"I toured the Springfield Masonic Community, and what jumped out immediately was the living space itself. It was nice. It had higher ceilings and more light. It's more like an apartment. The cost factor is surprisingly lower than any of the other places. Beyond that, the location is about 8 to 10 miles closer for us. The space itself didn't seem institutional. The person who took me around, I describe him as a low-impact salesman. He was believable. It was a no-frills tour, which I appreciated. He wasn't brusque at all. It was a well-spent 25 minutes, and I got everything I needed to know. Unfortunately, there was a room across the hall from the room I toured. It was clear that somebody had been bumping into it with a wheelchair. So, it needed some touch-up painting that they couldn't get to. It's a facility that dates back to the 30s but is very well-kept."

"My uncle is in the rehab side of Villa Springfield, and he's been there several times because he's always falling. The place looks great, but they are understaffed now and it is really hard to get people for help right away. But overall, it is clean and my uncle has no complaints. The food has been really good, too. All the women that helped me get this going with him for his long-term care have been very sensitive to everybody's feelings and they've been very understanding. They have different activities in this one big room all the time, like bingo and entertainment."

"My parents are moving to Walnut Creek Campus. They're in a house there. It's very nice. I call it a cottage. They're independent, but it's part of Walnut Creek. Down the road if they would need other services, everything would be right there. There's a beauty shop. My dad went through it. They're really not having a lot of people go through still because of Covid. I've only seen the cottage. I know there's seven pianos in the assisted living area there, which is very close to the home my parents are in.They have dining rooms there for eating. There were rooms for social activities. It has newer appliances and is nicely painted. There is new carpet. It was very nice stuff, and the lighting in the house is very good."

"Trinity Community at Beavercreek was very nice, but it was very expensive. If you do self-pay and run out of money, there's no Medicaid waiver to help. Other than that, it seemed more like a fancy hotel. It was very clean, very bright, and cheerful. Their food was very good. Their rooms were a little small, but they had very large windows. When you looked outside, it almost looked like you were in the woods. The staff was very nice and very welcoming, too."

"I toured Bethany Lutheran Village for my friend. It's lovely. It's accommodating. It has lots of activities. It has a lot of levels of care. It is also a buy-in community. So there's a buy-in or an annuity that you have to put down, which is okay, and it's much more reasonable than the places in Orange County for the services, but you don't age in place there. So you buy in at one level and then they care for you on the continuum. You buy an independent, then you go to assisted living, then you would go to nursing care. Annie was really good. She was helpful. I didn't eat in the dining area, but they have a café, and I've eaten there. The food was really good, and there was lots of variety."

"We toured the Sycamore Glen Kettering Health Senior Living's assisted living. I appreciated the very positive interactions between staff and residents. It was a beautiful facility and appeared to be very clean. The rooms that we toured that were available were very comfortable. I don't know if you could call them spacious, but they were a good size. We also found the price to be very affordable. They had a library, which was beautiful. They had a dining hall that opened out into a little community garden. They had a separate room where they had all kinds of activities, including the ability to have an in-house theater. They have a long list of activities. It's almost as though the activity is going on all the time. I saw the menu and it looked to be extremely varied. The person who welcomed us there was very supportive and very helpful, and answered many questions, including those I hadn't thought to ask. She also worked with me over time as we were figuring out how we were going to help my parents."

"I had my husband at Harmony Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for respite care last year. I was satisfied with it. They took good care of him. By the time I came to pick him up, everybody just loved him to death. I was satisfied with the way they took care of him and their facilities. I could see that the staff cared about what they were doing in their job. They helped me with my husband. When I dropped him off, it was just rough for me to just walk away, so they kind of took him aside and put his mind on something else while I left. I appreciate it, they were really good. The day we went there, my husband got to have lunch, and it was very good. Everything looked and smelled good. He ate it, so I know it was good. The room he was in was kind of small for me, and he had to share a room with an individual because they didn't have any single rooms at that particular time. The room was okay, but I think it could have been a little bigger to accommodate two people. From what I saw, the residents sit around and watch television in the gathering room. I don't know if they had any other kind of activities for the residents, like little exercise classes or games and stuff like that. Other than that, I think they keep things pretty clean, and the grounds outside look nice. I didn't see anything that made me cringe."
