"Aaron's Garden Senior Living & Memory Care was beautiful. It was great. There was nothing wrong with the community, but we wanted a single apartment for my father. We did not want a bedroom where he would walk out into the hallway. It was a beautiful setup. He loved it as far as if he was at that point to go there at a different time, yes, but not at this stage in his life. The people during the tour were very pleasant. It's very clean. The common areas were very pleasant."

"My sister-in-law was staying at Otterbein Lebanon SeniorLife Community. I like the availability of the staff. The staff was attentive to my sister-in-law when she was there for three weeks. The facility is clean, comforting, and inviting. They have restaurants, a hairdresser, and little stores on site. It was more like the feeling of an indoor village versus just a nursing home or assisted living property. They had things to encompass everything that you need, whatever the stage of your need is."

"I toured Beehive Homes of Liberty Township. I liked the fact that they were small-scale. I felt like if I'd been there I could have gotten more one-on-one and more personal attention. It was a very clean facility. The staff was very caring. I have no experience with them, but just from what I observed, they seemed nice and caring."

"Silverfern Cincinnati North was clean and nice. The staffing was pleasant. The activities were phenomenal. They have so many things for the seniors to do. It was very impressive. Even with family engagement, they have a special room for the kids to play, which I thought was great. There's a fantastic place for them to play. You could have your seniors and your kids in one place and have that interaction. You could give time and attention to the seniors, so that was very impressive. I like the apartments more than the ones that we have at the other place because it is a little larger."

"We went to One Lincoln Park, which is a 5-star place. Everything is just fine. It’s a very nice place and very close to my son’s house. They’re all very nice here. They’re completely re-doing the place with all new paint, counters, linoleum, and rugs. The place will be very, very nice. It’s 844 square feet and very pleasant. Everything is very much to my liking there. The apartment that I have is within a few feet from the door that leads straight to the parking lot where my car is. They have a valet service for parking and chauffeuring to the grocery store all included in the price. It’s all very nice. "

"I toured Bethany Lutheran Village for my friend. It's lovely. It's accommodating. It has lots of activities. It has a lot of levels of care. It is also a buy-in community. So there's a buy-in or an annuity that you have to put down, which is okay, and it's much more reasonable than the places in Orange County for the services, but you don't age in place there. So you buy in at one level and then they care for you on the continuum. You buy an independent, then you go to assisted living, then you would go to nursing care. Annie was really good. She was helpful. I didn't eat in the dining area, but they have a café, and I've eaten there. The food was really good, and there was lots of variety."

"Walnut Creek Campus assisted living was like the Marriott. It looked so different than the nursing home part. My husband was in the nursing home part, which was all right, but he had a problem with some of the workers who weren't very nice. It's like day and night. They had a piano in the dining hall, and it had crystal glasses and linen napkins. The only problem I had was you have to have money to be in their assisted living. It's a beautiful facility. They had concert grounds, and at each cubicle they had pictures of the resident's family members. They had people watching things in their theater room."

"Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care of Dayton-Centerville (Liberty Retirement Community) is not as good as many others. The rooms are nice enough. The care is pretty decent, but they don’t have enough help. They have activities for their residents like outings and groups of people coming in for entertainment."

"I toured Dogwood Commons. It was laid out well. It looked like a good interim step where you've got a big house, maybe 2200 square feet, and you're going back to 1500, but it had not only two bedrooms but also two bedrooms and a den. It had all the appliances except a washer and dryer. It had a two-car garage. The staff was friendly and forthright. The building is brand new, very modern, and nice."

"My mom is staying at St. Leonard Nursing Home. The appearance, the feel, and the look were all good. The grounds were well kept. I'm kind of iffy on the staff, but the social worker there is very good, helpful, and excellent. She was staying on one side of the facility, and their staff was excellent, but after the insurance stopped paying, she was transferred to the other side. I'm not too pleased with that side. They were supposed to be doing physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. I did not see the dining area or the food because when I usually visit, it is in between meals. I'm not there when they serve meals, but I know that she's losing weight. I don't know if she's eating or not eating, but they say she's eating. That's one of the reasons why I'm bringing her home, because I'm not pleased with how well she is recuperating. She's still weak, she cannot stand up on her own, she can barely walk, and that's not how she was when she went there. I am not pleased with the nursing staff, but not the other staff. The nursing staff need to be more in tune with the family by doing things like calling the family, keeping up with the family, and letting the family know what's going on with the patient. I understand they have a lot of patients and everything, but when you try to call into the nursing station, it's like you can't get a hold of them, and even if you did, it's like they don't know. There needs to be more understanding with the family."

"We chose it because everybody was friendly. Molly was very nice and very friendly. She knew all the residents by their first name. All the residents were very outgoing and friendly, too. They just gave the impression that they went above and beyond to make their residents comfortable. Since my dad moved in, he's been really enjoying it. If he doesn’t want what's on the menu, they're willing to make something else that he wants. The whole atmosphere was just very friendly, kind of like a family. They have card games and walking clubs. Someone comes in once a week to dust and sweep his apartment, change his bed, take his sheets and all his towels, and wash those. He has a washer and a dryer in his apartment, so he does his personal laundry. They call and check on him every morning. If he doesn’t respond, they call back after an hour. If he still doesn’t respond, they will come and check on him."

"Harmony Mobile Home Park is the most wonderful place to live. My neighbor from down the street just brought me dinner; we help each other and take each other to the store. It’s like a little family down here. I have 2 parakeets that have a cage right in front of the window and they just love it. They have a nice office and the ladies get down there and play cards. You do have to pay your lot rent which is a little over $300 a month and then you pay all your utilities. We get discounts on our natural gas. Everybody has to keep their place nice and if you don’t mow your lawn when it’s getting too high, you get told by the manager it’s time to mow your lawn. They want to make everything look real nice and they do a good job of it. We just got a new owner. None of us liked the old owners because they were a pain in the neck but I think this gentleman is going to be quite fair with us. We’d only have much crime around here. They’d robbed the bank one time and some guy just got out of jail. He picked out the first trailer, knocked on the door, tied up the lady and took her car but they had it back within 45 minutes. The cops caught him right away. "

"I moved into Sycamore Glen Retirement Center, and I'm really pleased. I like the space that I moved into because I have my own privacy, and the people and the staff are very nice. It's difficult. They can't offer everything they usually do because of COVID. I can't take advantage of the meals right now. It's independent housing, and they take care of the grounds and housing, so I don't have to do anything. I haven't had a lot of interaction with the staff because I haven't needed them, and I have my own home. They've come in, changed the air filters, furnace and replaced some windows that needed replacing, and they were all very nice. They don't do cleaning or anything like that, I have to provide my own, like a home health care aide. The facility is very good and well maintained, and the house was in perfect condition when I moved in. I've only been here a month. The staff that I worked with when I moved in was excellent, and they've responded when I called. Because of COVID, I can't use the gym or any community facilities right now. People who live in the independent living are not allowed to go up to the assisted living to participate because there's been COVID in the assisted living. It's much cheaper than others."

"My mom is in Trinity Community at Beavercreek nursing home. They do an excellent job, and the staff is very caring. The room she got is nice, and it looks like it's maintained well. They just opened the dining area back up, and it's alright. The food looks like nursing home food."
