The Best Independent Living Communities in Hamilton County, OH

"I visited the independent living community of The Summit of Blue Ash, and I liked it a lot. It's just that their 1-bedroom with a den is not really a 1-bedroom with a den. It was more of a 1-bedroom with a small corner that you could do something in. It wasn't even a room, but just like a larger closet. My siblings are literally down the road from where the facility is, so it's convenient for all of them. I like that it's centrally located. The facility is brand-new, so it's nice inside. Meals are all included, but they have a full-size kitchen in the rooms. They also have room for a dining room table and a living room area. I would prefer to have their 2-bedroom apartment because I want an office that is also a sewing room, so that's what I need the second bedroom for. If my kids also come, I have a second bed that they can sleep in. Even though the facility provides an apartment-type thing that they could stay in, that's on a first-come, first-served basis, so if somebody else has it reserved at the same time, then one would get it, and one would not."

"My brother is staying at Blue Rock Senior Living. There are very few residents there. My brother said the food is just tolerable. He says sometimes it's not that good, but he gets plenty of food. The room is very small, but he's making the best of it. I think they keep it very clean. The TV system that they have is Roku, so my brother cannot watch any Reds or Bengals games on his TV, and that's probably the biggest improvement they could make. There's one lady there who's been very helpful to him. She helped him set up his computer and other things. They do my brother's laundry once a week. They clean his room once a week. They have a stairlift, but it's very slow. Their courtyard and patio are very good. They have a very small library, so my brother goes to the public library."

"I visited The Wellington at North Bend Crossing. It was fine. The dining area was nice. It was an open area. They also had another place they called a deli. They had small kitchens, but you don't need a big kitchen when you're in that situation. The staff was very nice and seemed knowledgeable. The problem with the COVID-19, they didn't do as much and didn't show you as much."

"My aunt almost lived at Mallard Cove Senior Living. It was a nice facility. It provided three meals a day whereas some of the other ones only did one or two. She looked at available apartments there whereas some of the other facilities only showed us, models. She looked at three apartments there. The apartment she looked at actually had laundry in the room, which was a perk. The one thing that I liked about this facility compared to the other facilities was that, should her level of care increase and should she need assisted living, she would not have had to move apartments, she would just have to change rooms. The only thing that held them back, is they only had a balcony, and she wanted a patio. She had put money down to move in there and then changed her mind and moved into another facility instead mainly because of the patio. They provided three meals a day and they had a lot of different things that they did there in terms of happy hour and bingo. The staff was friendly. When we walked in, everybody was nice. It's a nice facility."

"I visited Sonesta Apartment Homes, and I will be moving to their independent living community. I like the atmosphere, and the people were very friendly. The buildings were very nice, and it's a nice central location. The apartment is excellent. They have a laundry facility and ample parking spaces. They also provide meals."

"After looking at a few facilities close to my brothers, my father chose Northgate park. He liked the facilities and the rooms and that it is a month to month rental. I live out of town, so when I visit I spend a lit of time at the facility. Everyone is very friendly and caring. My biggest concern is the food. The menu lacks fresh and low sodium choices. There are a lot of sauces and gravies. My father needs b.c a low sodium diet, and when I asked I was told that their nutritionist said, that low sodium means he chooses not to put salt on his food. There should be healthier, fresher options. "

"Stay away from this facility! Staff is lazy, untrained and uncaring. Residents hygiene is not attended to, laundry is rarely done and any request is ignored. Staff is not responsive and is full of excuses. I am very frustrated with this facility."

"I have spent several hours on the phone speaking with Victoria and Carole. I believe that this facility truly cares, not only about the residents but about the families as well. Truthfully, my father didnt qualify for this facility and I was very disappointed. I would consider it a real blessing if he was able to live here. Even though my father didnt qualify for this facility, Victoria spent so much time explaining to me the different types of and levels of care. She was so kind and I was very grateful for her compassion and understanding. Please take the time to look into this wonderful facility knowing that the Management really cares. I highly recommend that you take advantage of knowing you will be placing your loved one into one of the best assisted living centers our area has to offer. "My sister is in Silverfern Cincinnati North. We chose it because it had everything included, so that's utilities, cable TV, and internet access. She got two meals a day included too. It encompasses all of her normal expenses. It's fairly new for us, but we're pretty happy there. The size of the rooms is fine. It's a very nice facility. They have a nice dining room, a nice lobby area, and an indoor pool. All of it is well maintained. They have a workout room, a movie room where they do movie nights, and a pottery room where people can go and paint pottery and do art. They also have a general art room and a game room where they have the typical card games and dominoes and that kind of stuff. They have a nice outdoor enclosed area where they have a fire pit, some chairs, and covered picnic tables and stuff. You can go outside that, and there is also a walking trail around it. It's open for pets. My sister likes dogs, so she can go out there and sit and have the dogs come up to her. So, it's nice for her to have some exposure without having to have her own pet that she has to take care of. The staff members have been so far very helpful. Their maintenance guys came in and helped us get stuff set up. One of the maintenance guys fixed her walker. The staff that does the program seems very nice. The dining staff is good. My sister likes the folks there. I haven't heard her say anything negative about anyone there. It's always been pretty positive. They have art classes, exercise classes, big ball yoga and stuff like that. They have popcorn on movie nights. They have party things where they go outside and enjoy the great outdoors. They have a virtual reality room where you can go and play video games. They have a small library, but it's not like a public library with hundreds and hundreds of books."

"We went to see Celebration Villa of Highland Crossing, and we liked it. We toured for independent living. It would have been nicer if there had been a balcony or something, but I think it was very clean and they were very informative. I was disappointed that there was no balcony, but maybe that's a safety feature, so there's no way for the residents to go outside from their apartment. The staff members were very gracious and very nice. If we could afford it, it would have been a good choice."

"I visited here. The tour was great, they were very informative, answered all my questions, showed me the entire place, and my dad felt comfortable there. The staff was very helpful, they even gave us an apple pie. From the tour it looked like he would have everything he could need in there."

"The Village at Eastgate was good. It's a little more expensive than the other place, but that would be my number two choice. It was nice. I told them that I would want a first floor and they told me that that costs a little more and I said that was OK. I thought their facilities were good. They had a salon where they do your hair. They didn't have a manicurist. You get one meal included in your rent. You have to pay extra if you want lunch and breakfast, but you have an equipped kitchen in your apartment so you fix your own meals. I didn't meet too many of the staff, but the lady who showed me around was really nice and very helpful."

"The Waterford at Fairfield was open and had lots of activities. It's a little bit smaller than the other places I toured, so it's more compact. That's part of my impression. We saw the activities calendar, there's yoga, bingo, movie night, and there's Kroger shopping. There were lots of activities. Kristi was the staff who gave me the tour. She's very informative, very approachable, very personable, and very informed."

"Celebration Villa of Summit Hills was beautiful. They are getting everything redone in there, but still, the grounds were lovely. They were nice, neat, the grass was trimmed, and the plants were still in pretty good shape even though it's wintertime. The guy who did the tour for me was awesome. The dining area looked nice. They were doing crafts when I was there, and that looked like fun. It was a great place. They were clean and neat."
