The Best Independent Living Communities in Butler County, OH

"The rooms at Silverfern Cincinnati North are well-constructed. It has the right amount of space in the one bedroom. It's pretty nice and very clean. The lady who gave the tour was great. She listened to me about my needs and where I was at."

"Otterbein Lebanon is about five or six miles from where my husband is. It's out in the country. It's very nice and it's got all the facilities right there, so you don't have to go anywhere. But still, if your spouse is not with you, then it's kind of far away. I like it and everything, but it's just too far away for me. I've been on a tour, and I've also been out there to see a friend. She was in independent living, and she was there temporarily. Her family was moving, so they put her in there until they got moved and got settled, and then she moved in with them. She was there probably for about nine months. Everything is open, so you can go from the office to the restaurant, and different things, but if you're wanting to go to like the apartments or to the assisted living or something like that, you have to go outside and go to other different community. It's so big, and I found it difficult to go to different areas. My friend liked the activities. She said it broke up a boring day as she put it, and she was very high on them. She said that she went there because her friends were there."

"We toured and it was nice. The rooms are very nice. The staff was excellent. They were very thorough and knowledgeable."

"My dad stayed in Traditions of Deerfield for three weeks. The place was very nice and the room was very accommodating. They have a chef, which I think he appreciated because he's finicky about food, and getting him good food was important for his particular situation. He wasn't mobile and couldn't really get up and ambulate on his own, but they were flexible and made different things for him. I have no qualms about their quality of food or the chef. I just had a couple of drawbacks about them. The food given to him was cold upon occasion, and when my mom went there to visit once, there were a bunch of dishes piled up in the sink. That was a little troubling. The staff was very nice, though. They were responsive, and they worked with us on price. The biggest drawback was what happened during Christmas. Nobody could come in and visit there and we get it, that it's because of COVID. I dropped off some Christmas gifts for him so he could have something to open, but we came to discover that several of the Christmas gifts were just put over on the side of the room and weren't even given to him to open until two days later. That just bothered me, because that was just a simple task. It drew my attention to the level of care that was going on there. Overall, it was about as we expected. He was getting physical therapy to come in, since they don't have any physical therapy folks onsite, so they had to outsource them. We had fun, and I had good communication with them. I wouldn't say I don't recommend the place, but price-wise they were comparable to the other facilities he ended up with."

"After looking at a few facilities close to my brothers, my father chose Northgate park. He liked the facilities and the rooms and that it is a month to month rental. I live out of town, so when I visit I spend a lit of time at the facility. Everyone is very friendly and caring. My biggest concern is the food. The menu lacks fresh and low sodium choices. There are a lot of sauces and gravies. My father needs b.c a low sodium diet, and when I asked I was told that their nutritionist said, that low sodium means he chooses not to put salt on his food. There should be healthier, fresher options. "

"Because Traditions of Lebanon was brand new, everything was sparkling clean. We saw the independent living places and then we saw the cafeteria and all that kind of stuff. We saw the little duplexes. It was brand new, and nobody else has been in it. It was very nice and very upscale. The staff was very helpful and gave me all kinds of information. You got one meal a day with their independent living and they had a little bar, a little cinema room, a nice little cafeteria, and a dog park."

"We went to Ohio Living Llanfair. I like the fact that it's kind of an all-encompassing type of community. It's a large campus with a whole lot of things there. So I think if my mom were to move there, she could live there for the rest of her life. They seem to have a very good staff and the apartments were nice. They provide two meals a day and one meal a day on the weekends. I guess the main thing is the continuity of the care of the person, and talking with other residents, there is a woman who is 101 who lived there for 25 years. The people we talked to were happy and they had been there for some time and that registered well with me. I think that the pricing was very reasonable. Residents were coming up to our tour guide, and talking to him. They had had an event earlier in the week about antique cars, with music and ice cream, and they were saying how much they had enjoyed the event. So people seemed to be engaged in activities and were happy there. They have two television stations for the residents, so one will give the calendar of events for the day, and then the other station records events live. So like, if my mom didn't want to go to the church service, she could watch it on TV, or if they had a concert and she didn't want to go, but she would like to watch it, she can watch it in her quarter. So, I thought that was a nice thing. They have a church, they have a library, they have an arboretum, and the grounds are nice. Right now. It's my favorite of all the ones that we visited. They showed us the menu for their meals and explained to my mom how to order her food to go, then If my mom chose not to leave her room on a certain day, they would bring it to her for free, which, I felt, was very kind."

"My brother is staying at Blue Rock Senior Living. There are very few residents there. My brother said the food is just tolerable. He says sometimes it's not that good, but he gets plenty of food. The room is very small, but he's making the best of it. I think they keep it very clean. The TV system that they have is Roku, so my brother cannot watch any Reds or Bengals games on his TV, and that's probably the biggest improvement they could make. There's one lady there who's been very helpful to him. She helped him set up his computer and other things. They do my brother's laundry once a week. They clean his room once a week. They have a stairlift, but it's very slow. Their courtyard and patio are very good. They have a very small library, so my brother goes to the public library."

"I went to Traditions at Camargo. Their dining room is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. They had lots of activities for the residents, and they had a movie theater. It's a nice facility. The staff was wonderful. Somebody from our church is a resident there and he loved living there. He raved about the food. The rooms are great, big, have huge windows, very light, and airy. He likes board games. He said he likes to go on the outings that they have. They go to the zoo, and they were going to Jungle Jim's that week. He was happy with all the things to do there. The only thing they're missing that the other place has is the technology of monitoring. That's the only negative. They just lacked that cutting-edge technology. They said they do a room check every two hours, but my wife and I liked the fact that at the other place, they get notified if a person falls in their apartment and can send somebody there right away."

"I chose Pinebrook for my aunt. What I like most about it are the services and location. The efficiency apartment is much larger here than in the other two places I visited, so I knew she'd be able to take more of her personal belongings with her. "

"Stay away from this facility! Staff is lazy, untrained and uncaring. Residents hygiene is not attended to, laundry is rarely done and any request is ignored. Staff is not responsive and is full of excuses. I am very frustrated with this facility."

"I like The Village at Eastgate. It looks clean. They have nice-sized rooms. It's a nice community. The lady that gave me an interview and the tour were very nice. They were helpful."

"We toured Ivy Knoll Senior Living. I like the fact that everybody seemed to be out of their rooms. They just seem to be with other people. They were socializing. Everybody seemed to be pretty content, pretty happy. We went to different places and saw different activities. I was just impressed that it seemed to be lively and social. I thought it was a nice facility. It's convenient. We went with the marketing director and she was very upbeat. I was impressed. It was a nice place. It seemed well taken care of. The rooms were standard sizes. They weren't enormous but they were certainly big enough for a bedroom."

"Our Dad moved to Storypoint after our Mom passed away suddenly at the beginning of the year and my sister and I decided that he could not live alone in the condo he and our Mom had been living in. We were looking for an independent living facility that would allow him the independence of having his own apartment, but including meals and activities and in a pretty setting with nice outdoor space. Our Dad had a wonderful chapter at Storypoint. The leadership is excellent and LeBaron the GM, and Brandi the Assistance GM were super kind and helpful, both as we were considering Storypoint, moving our Dad in, and throughout his stay. The rest of the staff was also great. The facility was clean, and our Dad liked the food and meeting other residents. Unfortunately, after about 6 months our Dad’s health declined, so we needed to move him into an Assisted Living Facility. However, I would give Storypoint high marks for his entire stay there and would highly recommend it for people looking for a great independent living facility for their parents or relatives."
