"From the son of a resident, StoryPoint Union is the home my mother chose for this stage of her life. At 92 years young, she lost her husband earlier this year. Following that, this horrible Covid virus trapped her in the house that she had shared with him. Isolated and lonely, it’s certainly not the life one would hope for. StoryPoint Union had been under development for many months. In June of 2020 it opened to us. We all looked forward to it but didn’t realize how big the benefit of this facility and the wonderful people that support the residents there would be. It’s been a joy to see my mother find new friendships there as well as recount wonderful stories of the interactions she has with the staff. It really has been a wonderful new chapter for my mother and our family. A final point, we also appreciate the efforts the management and staff have taken to protect our relatives from the ravages of the Corona virus while still finding ways to keep her connected to our family. Good isolation and sanitizing protocols have been very effective and a comfort to all of us in the family. As everyone now knows, the elderly are most at risk from Covid-19 and it is nice to see this is a safe place for her to live in this new world. Thank you to everyone that has made this amazing facility possible. "

"My aunt has moved into Ohio Living Llanfair. I was there before she moved in. They have two independent living senior apartment complexes. The apartment is a nice one-bedroom-one-bath. She has a walk-in closet in her apartment complex. It also has a storage bin down the hall. It has a patio, which is what puts them ahead of the other places. It's a nice-sized patio. The staff were friendly and nice. They have bingo and card playing. They have a salon that does your nails and hair. They take them to the bank and grocery stores and other things. They told us that they hook up with another senior facility not far from them, and they do a lot of outdoor activities together. The one thing that I liked about them, when she was signing the contract, they told us that they would assign a mentor for her. So when she moved in, it was one of the residents that live there that walked with her the first week and showed her the facility. She didn't walk down to meals by herself and she didn't walk anything by herself. They actually knocked on the door, talked with her, walked her to places, and went to things together so that she wasn't like the new kid on the block that didn't know anything and nobody. So that was the nice part that they did."

"Our Dad moved to Storypoint after our Mom passed away suddenly at the beginning of the year and my sister and I decided that he could not live alone in the condo he and our Mom had been living in. We were looking for an independent living facility that would allow him the independence of having his own apartment, but including meals and activities and in a pretty setting with nice outdoor space. Our Dad had a wonderful chapter at Storypoint. The leadership is excellent and LeBaron the GM, and Brandi the Assistance GM were super kind and helpful, both as we were considering Storypoint, moving our Dad in, and throughout his stay. The rest of the staff was also great. The facility was clean, and our Dad liked the food and meeting other residents. Unfortunately, after about 6 months our Dad’s health declined, so we needed to move him into an Assisted Living Facility. However, I would give Storypoint high marks for his entire stay there and would highly recommend it for people looking for a great independent living facility for their parents or relatives."

"My brother is staying at Blue Rock Senior Living. There are very few residents there. My brother said the food is just tolerable. He says sometimes it's not that good, but he gets plenty of food. The room is very small, but he's making the best of it. I think they keep it very clean. The TV system that they have is Roku, so my brother cannot watch any Reds or Bengals games on his TV, and that's probably the biggest improvement they could make. There's one lady there who's been very helpful to him. She helped him set up his computer and other things. They do my brother's laundry once a week. They clean his room once a week. They have a stairlift, but it's very slow. Their courtyard and patio are very good. They have a very small library, so my brother goes to the public library."

"The Kenwood is a relatively new community. It is highly regarded. It is stunningly gorgeous and competitively priced. My mom seems overwhelmed because it is incredibly large, but her sister and the family are very excited about it. We like it a lot. My mom has memory issues, and we’ll move in next week. She’ll be in assisted living. We are going to continue with hospice nursing, but we will use their doctor on-call. I like this community a lot because it is literally stunningly. It sits way high up on a cliff. It is so pretty. It feels like you’re outdoors even though you can’t go outdoor. "

"We were unable to go into the memory care area of Traditions at Camargo. They were a little bit more strict about that, so we just saw the main lobby and went into a private office. We saw the lobby and one of the communal dining areas. Because of COVID, they're limiting the amount of areas that you can see, and so we weren't able to tour the full facility. We just met with one of the people there. They were helpful. The facility is brand new, so everything is very nice. The amenities were pretty much the same as all the other places that we have looked at. It was comparable to anything we would compare it to."

"I was impressed with everything at Northgate Park. They had a few problems before, but they worked them out. I wouldn't have booked a room there if they were not doing as good a job. They had good-sized rooms, I know that as I was trying to lay out what furniture to put there. In fact, I may go there someday. The staff that I talked to were very good, when they found out that my ex-wife had passed, they gave me a rebate of what I had paid. That says something very strong for me that they were fair. We had a walk around the place and I ran into a couple of people with their masks on and said hello. One of the things that's really great about this community is that it's a 1-floor place, and the hallways have skylights every 20 feet so there's natural light coming into the hallway. And the dining room also has skylights so there's also natural light coming in there. In other places, the hallways are dark and dank unlike here with natural coming in which is cool. They have pretty good staff. They can't compete with some of the other places, but their prices I thought were terrific for what you're getting."

"I like The Village at Eastgate. It looks clean. They have nice-sized rooms. It's a nice community. The lady that gave me an interview and the tour were very nice. They were helpful."

"We toured the independent living community of The Summit of Blue Ash, and our experience was good. They were nice and informative. The rooms are a little smaller than we expected, and we didn't like that it was too much of a hotel atmosphere for us. Other than that, the facility was clean, and the person who gave the tour was very good. We liked everything about it except the rooms. They had everything you could want. They had a pool, a game room, an exercise room, and an outside patio. It was all good. It's probably worth the money, but it's just a little higher than we can afford."

"I toured Sonesta Apartment Homes. If you're looking for something that's fully furnished, it's okay. It's good, but I wasn't looking for something that was fully furnished. Then the cost per month was too high. The manager was good, the only one that I ever contacted. She was helpful. The facility was good. It was pretty clean."

"Silverfern Cincinnati North was clean and nice. The staffing was pleasant. The activities were phenomenal. They have so many things for the seniors to do. It was very impressive. Even with family engagement, they have a special room for the kids to play, which I thought was great. There's a fantastic place for them to play. You could have your seniors and your kids in one place and have that interaction. You could give time and attention to the seniors, so that was very impressive. I like the apartments more than the ones that we have at the other place because it is a little larger."

"My mom moved there almost three years ago after living alone in a large home after my father died about seven years ago. While it was very difficult to "talk her into" making the move, she now says that she wishes she had moved there years ago. To say that the Pinebrook staff are incredible is an understatement. It is a smaller community and they make every effort to truly KNOW each resident as an individual. From every angle, my mom seems to have actually "reverse aged" since she has been there. Couldn't offer enough compliments as a very pleased family member. "

"I toured Beehive Homes of Liberty Township. I liked the fact that they were small-scale. I felt like if I'd been there I could have gotten more one-on-one and more personal attention. It was a very clean facility. The staff was very caring. I have no experience with them, but just from what I observed, they seemed nice and caring."
