Assisted Living Communities in Fairborn, OH

"Grand Court Dayton is a great place. The place is clean. If I was gonna be going to a place, I think this facility I would choose. The main thing that caught my eye originally was the little patio areas that they have there. I have both a small dog and a cat and they said they would accept that. "

"Brookdale Oakwood was a little bit smaller than the other two places. It was a better fit for my mom. The staff was really good. They have a good amount of activities. It was very clean and nice. Everything looked nice there. One of the things about Brookdale that was really good is they have a good staff to resident ratio. They also have a case manager that reviews the cases every day and tries to make sure that the care that they're providing is appropriate or adjusted if needed. They also are requiring their staff to be vaccinated against COVID, so I'm very appreciative of that. I just think that's a good thing to be doing right now. It sounded like their staff was good. I asked about the training, and they have their staff in three weeks in training and shadowing somebody before they ever start to work; I thought was really good."

"I toured The Carlyle House Assisted Living Community. It's a small independently owned facility, and it was recommended by our attorney for assisted living and memory care. There wasn't any availability there. I did look at their assisted living apartments, very nice, with a very small kitchen, and food area, but it was all very nice. I did go over and look at the memory care area. It's a small facility. The person who assisted me was friendly and had lots of information."

"Super clean, brand new facility with the best caretakers I have had the pleasure to meet. I have no worries with my Father in their capable hands. He has his own room for times that he feels like being alone. "

"We visited this facility. I love it. It was awesome. They have a little chapel and a little workout room. Most of people have their own little patio outside their doors. The rooms were very spacious. I just love it. They did have activities. They even have a woodworking room for the men."

"My parents have moved into Northwood Assisted Living. The area is nice where they're at. They have a pond outside their place and it has ducks and stuff, so they're enjoying that. The apartment that they live in is nice and roomy. They have activities, and they have a place where they can walk outside and it's pretty. Dad plays the guitar, so all the residents can hear that. I know the staff is very nice to them, although sometimes they get treated as children, and I don't like that. I wish that the staff would realize that this is their home now. They knock and they come in, in their apartments and I just don't like that because that's their home. I want them to be treated with respect. The dining area looks nice, and the people there are nice. They get three meals a day and there's coffee all the time. I always think it's too expensive. There's therapy there."

"My dad didn't think he needed to be at Sterling House. But they went above and beyond and tried to figure out how to get him involve. He seems to be coming around now. He has his own apartment and he says the food is wonderful. They just seem more homey and they took care of my dad much better. "

"It is a huge facility. My friend would have been totally lost there. The staff was friendly. They do a lot of trips."

"I kind of considered The Wellington at Dayton as mediocre. Their common areas weren't that large. They didn't seem to have a lot of emphasis on activities. The facility was laid out in a U shape. So, some of the rooms are rather far from the dining or other activities. The facility appeared clean but it seemed like it wasn't as kept up. They weren't upgrading as much. One of the one-bedroom apartments that I looked at had a carpet that was extremely worn. The staff was fine. They didn't ask a lot of questions about my needs or that type of thing, though. They have a bus to take people to different places or appointments. The facility was small, so they had a very small library and a very small activity room."

"Grace Brethren VIllage was home. The minute I visited I knew it was home for my Father-in-law. After 4 months of hospitals and rehabs, we decided on an independent living cottage. Unfortunately, his health didn't allow him to stay in it long term, but even when he was in their skilled nursing, he did not think he was in a "nursing home". I cannot say enough about the staff. From Julie in marketing, Kim the social worker, nursing staff, all the way to the volunteers who bring in fresh ice water, they are the most pleasant, caring group of folks I have ever met. They don't only treat their residents with kindness and respect, they also take care of the family. This is my first experience dealing with an elder who needed this type of aid and will be forever grateful for the help I have received from Caring.com and the folks at Grace Brethren Village. I would choose this place for my dearest family and myself!! "

"Brookdale Englewood is very welcoming and clean. My father moved in last November 29. Their location is convenient, and the grounds are neat and well cared for. The rooms and apartments are very nice. The rooms are very neat and have a refrigerator and microwave. The food is god. They are a very caring and efficient staff. "

"Sterling House of Englewood is a nice place. Their dining area is very clean and very nice too. Everything looks like it's all taken care of. The staff are OK. "

"I'm living in Stoney Ridge Senior Living. The facility is nice. It's well-kept and everything, the rooms, I've only been in a couple, but it seems to be well kept up in everything. The people here are here, they're good. When you call somebody for help, sometimes it might take two hours, sometimes they don't come in at all, especially at night. The food is okay. It's not great, but I've been to nursing homes, and they're about the same. It's edible. They have something every day, they do a good job of the activities, like bingo, or card games, or they have like a music thing, or get together on Fridays and so forth. We have a lot of things here. They said it was cheaper, but it isn't."
