"My dad is happy in a ground-level apartment in Whispering Pines. He loves it. The food is excellent. The people and staff are great. They have managers who live there. It offers good activities and a caring environment. Wendy, Chris and Jed, the manager, have been super helpful in terms of helping him get acclimated to the surroundings. It is very nice. "

"My mom moved into Capital Oaks. I chose it because it was extremely clean, and I loved the fact that the property managers lived on the property. There's at least one person on the staff that my mother said was not friendly and was kind of rude. But for the most part, the staff there is great. I've tried their food and I think it's good. They have a beautiful movie theater. They offer different activities for the residents like bingo. It's a very, very nice facility."

"Independence Village of Olde Raleigh seemed to be a very nice facility. The staff during the tour was very knowledgeable and very friendly. They offered food but we declined. They've got a very nice dining area. We got there at lunch, so that's pretty much all the activity we saw. They have reading, theater, several groups that play games, and a gardening group. It seems to be very well rounded in terms of social activities. The rooms were very nice. The layout was nice, very clean, thought out, and well-appointed."

"My parents are at The Cambridge at Brier Creek. The place is immaculate. It's so clean. The people that work there are super nice and very professional. There is physical therapy onsite through WakeMed if needed. They also have medical care onsite. There's a doctor's office downstairs, there's a 25,000 square foot gym, there are two swimming pools, one saltwater, one junior Olympic-sized pool that's chlorinated. There's also a very large hot tub and there's a sauna steam room. It really is a resort. Everyone is just as accommodating as possible. No requests are too much. The food is, I would equivalate it to cruise dining, it's outstanding. It's almost unbelievable that it's that good. Part of your monthly rent, $400 per person, goes to the dining credit, and so you eat in a a five-star restaurant daily. They have lunch and dinner service, and they have brunch on Sunday. Part of your meals come directly out of your account each month. It's a great situation. The meals change. There are so many varieties, and all the people that eat there seem very, very satisfied. There are activities from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at night. This place has far exceeded anything that I looked at. My parents are very satisfied. I can't think of anything negative to say about the entire place. It is outstanding."

"We visited Stoneridge Gracious Retirement Living. It's new, well laid out, and the food was OK. The rooms were adequate, there was a library, a couple of computers, and a theater. We ate a meal there. They were very friendly."

"I toured the Woodland Terrace in Cary. I visited their memory care. They were very nice, but for me it was the ultimate cost. It's 5 stars, all the way across except the cost. I love their sitting areas, and I love the openness. I love the engagement of the staff, and I love the outdoor spaces. It's just that when my mom got to the later stages of her disease, it was going to be cost-prohibitive for me; I didn't want to have to move over again. The rooms were nice, very well laid out and roomy. I saw their beauty salon, where they would do nail care, and the TV room. I saw more games here too. From a distance perspective and the location, it's a really nice central area and easy to get to."

"Reserve at Mills Farm is fairly new. It's only two years old. We liked it because it had all three levels. Even if you're in independent living or assisted living, everybody kind of congregates all together. They keep the memory unit separated out, but the assisted living and independent living people can all converse together. The independent living is like living in an apartment, however they still check on you every day to make sure that you haven't fallen. They have safety features in each room, like a pull cord. The apartments have a very, very, very nice set up. It comes with the washer and dryer. A lot of the utilities are included, too, which we liked. Another good thing is that they have a pharmacy right there on-site. We're going to talk to the pharmacist, and they said that they're going to fill all of my dad's drugs. They will put them in these 8 by 11 sheets and color code them. They have a hair salon and all kinds of activities. It's more on the high end, but we feel like we're making the right choice. The staff was very thorough and very nice. They have been very accommodating. Every time we text Lynn (the director) to ask her questions, she answers immediately. She's been great so far. They have 24-hour security, a shuttle service, and a huge cool movie theater. There's also a lot of males that are there right now."

"Jordan Oaks was a very nice and attractive place. They did the full tour of the place -- the rooms, the different options they had for recreation, and the dining. The room was an apartment type with a bath. The staff was very nice and very pleasant. I would recommend it as a community. "

"My in-laws moved into Crossings at Heritage. It's an apartment complex for 55 and up. The staff was super helpful. We're able to explain all the financial needs with my in-laws. The thing we loved the most about it is everything's maintenance free. All the appliances are new and are included in the rent. Yard service is done for them. They also have weekly activities up at the clubhouse that my in-laws are enjoying. They're just super friendly. They don't have food. They cook on their own. Because of Covid, the activities are not all that great, but they will be."

"This community is my choice. I went and looked at it, and probably the biggest thing is that it has a nice kitchen. The other ones only have a small bar with a sink where you might be able to put a microwave but no kitchen. They have a lot of amenities. They have an exercise room and a theater. They have crafts and lectures. The place was very clean. The staff who assisted me was good. The food was very good, too. The room was very nice. It had a step-in shower and a washer-dryer."

"Springmoor was a nice facility. They had access to a nearby swimming pool, and they're planning to expand to have pickleball, which is important to us. There are two groups of buildings separated by a busy road that the people had to walk across, which is kind of a bad thing. Other than that, we liked the location in North Raleigh and it was more cost effective, so we are considering Springmoor. One bad thing is you need $15,000 to get on the waiting list."

"The Cardinal at North Hills was very lovely. We were very impressed with what they had available. We were impressed with their indoor pool. There were several restaurants that you could choose for dining, and I think the price included 2 meals a day. There was an art studio there. There were a lot of things for keeping fit. The staff who gave us the tour was very good. She was informative, showing us everything available there. They had transportation with Uber and Lyft. If you wanted a family member to stay, they had the Hyatt close to them and they have a special rate."
