"I toured The Manor at Saratoga. I like the facility. It was clean. The residents that I saw seemed to be happy. Victor, who gave me the tour, was very nice and very experienced. He not only told me about the facility, but he told me about the neighborhood. It seemed like a very nice neighborhood. He had a menu for the month posted, and activities. The only thing that I did not like was the room that they would put my husband in if he went to that facility, he would share a room with another person. I did not like that only because they told me at the facility where my husband is now, and when he was in the VA hospital here in Durham that he hollered out during the night. He called my name all night long. And I think that might be disturbing to the patient, and I wouldn't want him to disturb the other person. The Manor at Saratoga was also somewhat cheerful and inviting, so I liked that. It was welcoming."

"I like Carillon a lot. It was very nice. The room was a 2-bedroom with just enough space. The staff was great. Everybody was great. I don't know about amenities or activities, but I know they have a craft room. It was all good. The place was very clean. The layout was great. The dining area looked very nice."

"My husband has moved into Avendelle at Lazy River. This place is phenomenal. They have been the sweetest walkers and caregivers, and it's run by a great man, Darren. My husband seems to fit right in. I'm just amazed by these people. They have listened to everything I've said, and they've tried everything they can. He's adapted so well there. It felt warm and it felt like a home and I thought he would like that better than a hospital-looking place. This is a locked facility, but it was like a home. He can walk into the kitchen and he has done so well. The staff updates me every day, "He's done great today," "He was such a joy today." I can't say anything wrong about this facility. This facility is amazing to me. I know they have puzzles, they have building stuff, and they take them out for walks. He got there at 1:30, and they warmed the food up and they gave him chips, a nice, good old ham and cheese sandwich, and cookies. They gave him iced tea until he pushed it away, he said, "I'm full." I just can't say anything, but wonderful things about this place. When the morning shift gets off, they empty all the trash, mop all the floors, and they clean the kitchen and all the bathrooms before they leave. It has been spotless every time I've been there. It was the best price of any place I went to. It was clean. The staff is wonderful, and they're hands-on. They check on him every five minutes. The price was reasonable."

"I liked the rooms at Sunrise at North Hills. I thought they were nice. It seemed to have a very positive environment. The person that gave me the tour was Alex and he was super, super nice. I liked him a lot and they were very friendly. They engaged with their residents. There were people around. So, it wasn't like residents were just sitting by themselves. The dining area also looked nice and I thought the therapy area was really good. They had in-house therapists. Their barber shop/beauty salon was good, too. They had a little sunroom and the place seemed clean."

"I toured The Manor at Edgewater. The bedrooms were in complete disarray. The lady who met us was clearly in poor health and she could barely walk. She was older and said, 'It's just me, 24/7.' The kitchen was beautiful and clean, but the bedrooms were not. There's no housekeeping, and the people there have to take care of their rooms. The rooms were semi-private with shared bedrooms."

"My Mom has been a resident at Abbotswood for 3 years. As a medical professional I learned about Abbotswood through patients and other medical professionals. After visiting I knew it would be an ideal retirement/assisted living "home" for my Mom. Abbotswood at Stonehenge is a very warm and inviting community. The staff has a genuine interest and gets to know each one and their families. The dining room staff prepares wonderful and well- balanced meals. The Wellness staff encourages the residents participation in activities. I would recommend this community to anyone looking for a safe and "home-away-from home " place for their loved ones. "Sunrise of Raleigh was very nice. My biggest concern is that they're telling me that they could provide a lot of services, which made me concerned based on their staffing pattern. The rooms were nice and everything else was nice. I just didn't feel confident with the level of care they said they could provide versus their staffing pattern. The place was nice and clean, and people seemed friendly and interactive."

"I thought that Morningside was also kind of homey and personal which I liked. I liked that the facility was smaller. However, they had no kitchen at all but they said you could have a mini-fridge in there. It was an assisted living which was what we were more ultimately thinking for my mom. "
