My mom moved into Avendelle Assisted Living at Rolesville about 3 weeks ago. There are just six people in the facility. She is getting the assistance that she needs with bathing, but she doesn't need assistance with eating. The facility has been great. The staff has been really good and responsive to her needs. They are very friendly, very nice, and very patient with her. They are very friendly with the family, as well. It feels like a home there. She had a hard time adjusting in the beginning because she was coming out of her own apartment, but they have helped to make it work. During her first 3 days or so, they brought in an extra person that would be there specifically for her to get her used to the facility. Her room is very pleasant. It is well taken care of. It is very clean. She is using some of their furniture, the bed, and dresser. But we were able to bring in two of her own chairs that she likes to sit in and we were able to decorate her room as we pleased. We've been there often when they've been preparing the food. The food looks very good and nutritious. She sometimes doesn't want a full meal, she just wants something like a grilled cheese sandwich, and they've been willing to do that as well. They have a person who comes in to do haircuts. Hopefully next week, they have a podiatrist who's going to come in and clip her toenails. We often take her for a walk in the neighborhood, which is a very nice neighborhood with sidewalks. They are willing to take her for a walk, too. We feel very safe with her there because she keeps wanting to try to go out like she normally used to. As soon as the door opens, someone is notified. We were shocked at how expensive it is, but the nice thing is there is an all-inclusive price. It's just one price and if you need some extra things, they don't add on.
