I visited this facility

I visited Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie and toured their independent living. They greeted me with such friendliness and I felt I was family. They were so polite, nice, and very welcoming. They gave me a tour of the place and explained everything including how it was to live there. I also met some of the residents and they were very welcoming. The place is very clean and well-kept, too. I like the place. They also have activities and things for you to do.

Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie goes from independent living to assisted living and if you need more care, goes to nursing. My mother was there in 2006. I had called them because they had told me that they refurbished some of the apartments. I was interested to see what they had done and the things that they had changed. It's really beautiful there. I like the apartments themselves. They have the nicest, largest apartments. I think you get a pretty good bang for your buck. I only met the one person who was up at the desk, and then somebody took me around. It was very nice and informative. For the money that they are asking, they give you three meals. When my mom was there, it was only one meal that they gave you. They used to have a well-stocked gift shop and a tea shop. It was beautiful, but that was stripped down for whatever reason. Now, there's hardly anything in there. They have a pool. You just pay rent. You don't have to plop any huge amount of money down. It was convenient. Right across the street was the nursing. When Mom was healed, she went right back to her apartment. The setup was nice and I liked the idea of only having to pay rent. Everything was included like your internet.

Mom was at Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie for respite care. The community is very active and very nice. They have something going every hour of the day. They had games, arts and crafts, and all kinds of social things going on. It was extremely clean. The staff was very, very friendly. The food was good. She's a very picky eater and she ate there. The value for the money was also good. Respite care is expensive, but they're right up there with most of the other ones.

I liked that the head nurse of Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie was very good and very, very nice. I immediately thought that that was one of the more important things, to have a nurse that seemed compassionate, levelheaded, and knew what was going on and not just the help. I like the locale. The place, in general, is close to restaurants and other activities. I liked the size of the rooms and the prices were reasonable.

I went to Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie. I like the fact that they have all other levels of care that are right there, so when my mother needed it, she could progress to it. I also like how nice and clean it was, and how big the one-bedroom apartments were. My mother also liked the fact that they had a stove, and their laundry facilities were right there on each floor. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable. I also talked to a couple of the residents, and they were very happy there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm living in Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie at the present time. I'm in independent living. They have assisted living and they also have a rehab facility. I chose it because it's within a block of where my daughter and grandson live. It met all the particulars that I was interested in. I have a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. I have a nice bedroom that would take a king-sized bed. It has two dressers, two nightstands on either side of the bed, and a full closet. My living room is probably 15 x 20, and I have a 50-inch TV, a couch, and two chairs. There's a double sliding glass door that opens to a patio that overlooks the swimming pool. I have a full kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, a full operating stove, a coffeemaker, a microwave, cabinets, and everything I need. The bath has a shower with a seat in it. I have a built-in closet in the bathroom for my linens and it's clean. The facility is nice. There are activities that go on every day and variation of events. You can participate in them or you can go and watch or you can stay in your room and not participate. We have three meals a day, and we have a cocktail hour on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On certain evenings, they have movies with popcorn or you can choose not to participate. There's racing, bingo, all kinds of games, and transportation to shopping or Wal-Mart. They will take you to doctor's appointments. The facility has adequate covered or garage parking. Dining is restaurant style. You sit down with whoever you would like to sit with. It's casual attire. Breakfast consists of eggs or a special meal. There's fresh fruit, cold cereal, and oatmeal. There's a swimming pool, a weight room, a billiards room, a shuffleboard room, a card room, a bistro where they have events, a meeting room, and a bingo room. There's everything you want. The dining area is just like going into a five-star restaurant. There are always two entrees to pick from. If that isn't up to your needs that day, there are probably 20 items on a special list that you can pick, and they will fix it immediately for you. The staff is very, very friendly. I haven't seen anyone with a bad attitude at all and I've been here for three months. Everyone's very friendly, and they'll do anything you want. I had a light that went out in my bath area and within ten minutes, someone was there. There were two lights over the sink, only one was out, and they changed them both. The food is outstanding. There's a waitstaff that knows your name. They know if you like fresh fruit and juice, and it's there waiting for you when you come at 7:30. They take your order, omelets, poached eggs, pancakes, waffles, bagels, fresh fruit, you name it. We get housekeeping once a week. They will wash your personal belongings if you would like. They change your sheets. They vacuum the carpets and dust everything. It's just like having a maid at home. The activities are great. There's something to do every day or if you don't feel like doing it, you don't show up. I went and looked at 14 different places and this was the best value for my dollar.

I visited Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie, and I like it very much. For me, it's the best in the area. They have beautiful gardens. They have a nice one-bedroom apartment with a balcony. My experience was very nice. If I need it, I will come back to this place, and I would recommend it. The lady I met was very, very nice. They have nice entertainment, too. They had two libraries, a nice dining room, a cafe, a beautiful swimming pool, and a game room. The facility was very nice and neat.

Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie was a very friendly and very caring place. It's very homey and the dining room has cloth napkins and linen tablecloths. They have a library and laundry rooms on each floor and they check every day to make sure you're OK. They have people that will put up the shelves you bought if you need them and they're willing to help whatever you'd like them to help you do. They have lots of things to do, like bingo, shuffleboard, water aerobics, games, puzzles, and a workout room. Plus, it's quite beautiful. I saw a one-bedroom and it looked like it would be very comfortable. It's also very clean and I think it's going to be wonderful. We were invited for lunch and the food was good.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend is in Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie. It's an independent living facility which can go to assisted living if needed. She's good where she's at now. I don't know much about the facility. I've been there once to visit her, and I'm going to go again this weekend. It's a beautiful facility. It is just really impressive. Now that things are opening up and most seniors have been vaccinated for COVID, they're beginning to have more activities and so forth for the residents. My friend is in a small, one-bedroom apartment, which is very nice. They have a library on each floor, including a large-print library. It's well run. I know they have three meals a day. I feel hesitant to put a rating on the place, the reason being my friend is extremely fussy and no place is going to satisfy her completely. I can only go on what I saw when I was there. I don't know anything about how quick they are to respond if there's a problem or if the food is that good. I met the staff only at the check-in desk. They have two main entrances, there's a desk at each entrance, and they have an electronic check-in procedure that actually takes a photograph of your face and matches it when you sign in. They seem to be very courteous and willing to answer questions. I haven't eaten there. My friend's very fussy. She likes very light California cuisine with weird kinds of lettuce and that kind of thing. They have a Mississippi night where they could have their choice of ribs, shrimp, and all sorts of different kinds of cuisine, and she seemed to enjoy that. I think they probably do pretty well with the food. It's just that she's so fussy. It's very clean and very well kept. During COVID, when everything was shut down, they didn't have gatherings, but now they are starting to have them again. I know she goes to art class, and she plays a couple of games -- Rummikub and something else. I really don't know what all activities they have going right now; I just know that they've started up again now that most everybody has been vaccinated.

I saw the Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie. I've dealt with the head gal there, and she's awesome. The rooms were nice. I thought the food was fine. They gave you a menu, it's kind of like going to a restaurant, and it was good. There's nothing to complain about. It's a very beautiful place.

gone and happy to be.

A very nice concept. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Activities are varied and a lot of fun. The only deficit is one of the residents feels she is in charge and the rest of the residents do what she says and makes it so a lot of residents do not want to participate in activities. The former director let her run the facility as she wants no matter that she bullies many people and causes them to go to other facilities where they are all equal. She is definitely guilty of elder abuse.

We decided on Harbor Place. The apartments were lovely, spacious, convenient, and met all our needs. They have a variety of activities, outings, and it's a nice, social atmosphere. They encourage friendships and relationships, which is important. The dining area was very nice, the service was good, and the staff was lovely. The fellow residents we dined with had nothing but nice things to say about the place. They have a beauty shop, a little gift store, a pool, card rooms, movie rooms, and a library.

Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie was a very beautiful place. I liked it. They had little apartments. When you walk in, there's a bathroom to the right, the bedroom was straight ahead, the little kitchen area to the left, and a little outdoor balcony. They were small, but nice and had just enough space. The food was excellent. The staff was very informative and very helpful. They had an arts and crafts room, a lot of activities going on, a lot of trips to go shopping, lunches, and day trips. The grounds, the lobby area, and common areas were beautiful. My friend was very happy there.

I know two ladies who are at Harbor Place, and they're very happy there. Their one-bedroom apartment seems small to me, but my friends seem quite happy with it. There's a lot to do. They have Wii games, bridge, mahjong, movies, and bingo. There is also a bus that would take people to different places. My friends think their food is good. Another thing I like about Harbor Place is its location because it is right down close to where the shops.

Our experience at Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie was very nice. The apartments were nice except for the kitchen, which was inadequate. They had a lot of programs and lectures which we, as outsiders, were invited to, so we attended a couple, like one on nutrition. The staff was very helpful. I was impressed with them.

I visited Harbor Place, and the people who showed me around were very nice. They had very nice grounds and everything was beautiful. The apartment was set up very nicely. I can't say anything negative about it. Everything was there. I've been there three or four times and it's lovely. It's like walking into a beautiful hotel with a big courtyard in the middle. It's away from the main traffic area which is good and the rooms are nice with high ceilings and balconies on some. They have two meals a day and a nice menu to choose from that changed every day. I could take my little dog with me. There's covered parking, and a little deli where you could have lunch on your own, and a little gift store where you can get aspirin or toothpaste if you run out. They were very accommodating. In one three-story building was all independent, and in a separate building is the assisted. There's also a building in front where people go for physical therapy. There were people playing cards in one room, and they had a nice pool area, workout area, and a big ballroom area. They do a full buffet breakfast with everything. For dinner, there's always fish and another special, plus the regular menu, so you have a choice of two specials or the regular menu. It was beautiful. The value was certainly there.

Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie is a beautiful facility with nice grounds. They had lovely apartments, beautiful dining room and library. It was very lovely, very nicely done. The lady who assisted me during my visit gave a lot of information. It sounds like a place where if my father needed to go; that’s where he would go. They have dances, all kinds of arts and crafts, and card games. They take the residents to the beach, shopping mall. On certain days, they have outings. There’s a lot of activities going on.

What I liked about Harbor Place was that if you needed to go in for a rehab, they had a facility right across the street; they weren’t so separated. They could easily go across and see that person rather than them being so far away. It was very clean; the rooms were nice and laid out well. It was definitely a true aging place.

I recently visited Harbor Place to look for a place for my father. It seemed ok but I noticed that a lot of the residents in the assisted living had private aides or nurses with them. I spoke to a couple of residents who said that they were advised to get "Additional" help to make sure that all of their needs could be met! I am sorry, but, if I am going to pay somewhere between $4000.00- $ 5500.00 per month and you can't provide all of my fathers needs, then you should not be in the assisted living business. When I spoke up about it, they really just lost interest in everything else.

I didn't get to see the rooms in Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie when I went in to talk to somebody. She basically told me how much it was and that it would be anywhere between $4,000 and $6,000. When I kind of blinked my eyes and I said I couldn't afford that, she didn't even bother to even show me anything. She just kind of brushed me off. She didn't even act like she wanted to work with me or try to give me any ideas or anything. So, I said, "Fine. Okay, thank you. Goodbye".

My mother is living at Harbor Place for two and a half months. I am happy because it was her decision and it is working out very well. She is in a good size room with one bedroom and closet, a small kitchen with decent size living and dining room and with a lovely large bathroom. She was familiar with the place because before she moved there, she had been visiting the place to play bridge as the facility allows people from the outside to go in and participate in their activities. The staff is wonderful. They answer our questions and give us great information. Since my mother moved in there, every day she talks about how happy she is to be there. She is very busy. She goes to her exercise class every day. She loves the meals. In fact, my son and his family come over there and we have a lovely dinner in their dining room. My mom loves everything about it and we are very happy.

Living at Harbor Place would be wonderful for a people like me. It would be like living in a beautiful hotel or a five star resort. However, it was too big for my dad and he would not be able to navigate that. I thought it wasn't geared for old people. I also didn't see a single resident when I was there.

I place my Aunt at Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie and it is an absolutely phenomenal place. It is like a five star hotel. When you walk in, it does not have an odor. My Aunt had an apartment and they clean it every day. They change her bed and wash her clothes. The staff is phenomenal and they take good care of their people. When my Aunt cannot make it for breakfast, they bring her breakfast in bed. They know everyone by name. The food is great. They have activities for every hour or every hour and a half from nine o'clock in the morning until six o'clock at night and every holiday, they have a family dinner.

This facility should get high marks for being an excellent location with good competent caregivers. The biggest complaint I have is how it treats these valuable personnel according to my uncle who is both a resident and a witness. Staff work all through night without decent food to eat or even a break. I know I wonder how competent anyone can be without eating, or working for 8 to 10 hours without a break. Accidents and poor judgement can easily be attributed to either of these disturbing trends and when you combine them it is a recipe for disaster. My uncle has seen CNA's stumble through shifts in no condition to really take care of others when they are so lacking rest and fortification themselves. It is an accident waiting to happen and a labor complaint ready to be filed! Ms DR. Martinez

When you forst arrive at the facility it reminds to of a hotel. It is a 4 story building with beautiful landscaping. When you walk into the assisting living building you tend you get depressed. everyone looks depressed and it smells like old people and a doctors office combined. I kind of felt bad for the people living there some of them looked so sad. The staff was nice, though some of them looked likethey didn't even care to be there. But the building is nice and taken care of on the inside and out. Though i can't really say that about the residence.

What I like about this facility is the arrangement of rooms. In addition to this, I also adore the apartment itself where my mom stays. The surrounding is very clean, it has a lovely water feature, beautiful landscape, a porch and lots of sitting areas. The staff is very friendly. They even gave me their cell-phone numbers, returned my calls and were always expecting me. I've also met with people who are members of the health team like the director, person planning the menu and others. One instance when the workers were very helpful was when I faced difficult challenges with my mother's insurance. Another thing I like in this facility is the multi-steps of care. It varies from independent, assisted, memory care and others. It has also a place where residents can stay until their remaining days so it won't be a hassle moving them to another one. Furthermore, it has a nursing service available 24/7. My mother doesn't care about the food; I think this is what they need to improve.
