The residence is in a nice downtown area, giving it access to museums, restaurants, parks, churches, schools, commercials, and much more. We know the importance of our residents to keep maintaining their normal life and visit those places. Museums and open areas are our favorites to visit. Also in our facility, we have our own beauty salon, garden, outdoor space, computer space, barbecue area, and smart TV in each room.

The number of staffers that are on duty in the daytime and overnight depends on our residents and their needs, we seek to keep everything covered at any time of the day and night. In Better Days we have staff working 24/7 to keep our residents safe and well cared for.

Accepted Answer

The care staff ratio depends on our residents and their needs. In our facility, we are always governed by the compliance of AHCA. Our residents' families can decide which plan is adjusted better for their loved ones. We have staff working 24/7 in our facility.

This communication gets done by the owners, being one of them a Cardiologist, and also their manager and person in charge of Better Days. If any of the residents show a change or a health problem, it gets communicated immediately to the family through phone or any other fast channel.

Better Days Senior Living is not affiliated with any hospital, although the residence is owned by the cardiologist, Carlos Zamora. The residence has a direct network of communication and care with renowned cardiologists, critical care doctors, and neurologists, that provide advanced care for the most common ailments occurring at this age, including heart diseases such as arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, dementia, strokes, and TIAs. If any of our residents need a higher level of care, they will be notified to get in contact with skilled nursing or a hospital.

Accepted Answer

In Better Days, we accept people of all ages, depending on what kind of disability they have and what level of care they need. Our main goal is to offer a safe living facility with a healthy environment and the care we can offer. Currently, our residents are seniors, so we have created a happy and healthy elder community. In our facility, we offer the opportunity of letting our residents choose the activities they love to do and share them with the rest. We want them to feel happy and heard. They love to play board games, bingo, do crafts, and do other activities.

Depending on our residents' needs, we can arrange safe transportation for them at any moment or time needed, yet we don’t have a transportation service in our facility.

Accepted Answer

In Better Days, all the meals are prepared and planned by a licensed nutritionist.  We know the importance of a healthy eating diet for our senior residents. We have currently hired a cook to vary the meals every week, so our residents don’t get bored of eating the same food. We want to balance each meal with a plate that covers the three core food groups, proteins, carbohydrates, and vegetables.

Our facility is gated with a security sensor. Anyone who comes in or out, by foot or by car, we are notified with a sound that will alert un in the facility. The whole building inside out has a security camera system working 24/7. We want to keep our residents and staff safe all the time.

In Better Days we let our residents decide what activities they want to do. We know how important it is for them to feel heard and involved, so we let them choose what they love besides the set of activities we have scheduled. Some of the activities we do with our residents include board games, bingo, sitter size, current events, or even just talking to them. Talking to them and hearing them is important to understand how they are feeling since we all need to be heard and talking is a healthy emotional therapy.

We want to keep our residents’ families informed about their loved ones through all the possible channels, including a Newsletter, email, phone calls, and texts. The residents’ families can contact us and visit our facility at any time and day needed without notice or appointment. We want them to stay in contact with them at all times and in all possible ways.

All our staff in Better Days goes through a training process required by the state to get hired. The staff is properly trained 30 days before, within, or after being hired, depending on the needs and the abilities. Besides this training, the staff also goes through a process to be integrated into the Better Days family and the residence, understanding our values, mission, and vision. We want to keep building a professional and healthy family at all moments.

Accepted Answer

Currently, we cannot accept pets due to the size of the facility, although we always accept their short visit, since our residents and staff love dogs and cats. We do ask to keep them calm and controlled to maintain a nice environment and a pleasant visit. Our residence offers an open outside area for our lovely residents and their families.

All our staff in Better Days receive ongoing training regarding Alzheimer's and dementia. This allows us to offer proper care and a safe environment for our residents.

Accepted Answer

In Better Days we prefer our residents to not wander around the facility, since our residence stays open, and it is never locked up. We want them to stay safe, so we don’t accept anyone wandering, especially by themselves. Our staff can take them on a walk at specific times of the day.

This assessment is done by a MD, a Medicine Doctor, who is in charge of checking and supervising any changes in our residents' health and cognitive functioning. This process gets done every other week, keeping a health track of our residents.

All the staff is properly trained to know how to handle memory care residents, however, we cannot accept residents who need help feeding themselves. Better Days is an assisted living facility, and people who need techniques during mealtime should be in skilled nursing care and not at an Assisted Living Facility. We want to offer the proper care for our residents at all times and we know what is best for them.

All these mentioned before are good brain exercises that keep our residents' brains and memories working.
