Yucaipa Hills Post Acute. I think this facility is okay but YOU CANNOT REACH THEM BY PHONE IN THE EVENING. Like this evening i spent two hours calling and no one would answer the phone and they are too cheap to put phones by the patients bed.

The people at Calimesa Post Acute have been very helpful and attentive. Dad is very comfortable, and they treat him well. He has everything he needs there. They have music, bingo, and people coming in to sing and visit them. I'm happy with the way they are taking care of Dad. The food is good, and Dad seems to be enjoying it. If he wants something else, they're willing to make it for him right away. The place is very clean and sanitized.

My mom is in Braswell Family Senior Care. They’re very adept at caring for Alzheimer's patients. She never has to ask to go to the bathroom. They anticipate her needs before she even has the need. They deal with it so positively and so calmly that the patients always have the attention that they need. If there’s negative behavior from the patients due to their Alzheimer's, they have trained professional treatment from the caregivers, nurses, and CNAs. They treat the patients with love and respect. My mom has really bad outbursts, and even with her difficult behavior, they love her anyway. I’m so happy my mom is there. They have alarmed doors. You have to have a code to get out of the unit where she is. If they had a tendency to wander, they have an ankle bracelet, so they’ll set off an alarm. The food is delicious. She has gained weight, and she is healthy. She had a sore that wouldn’t heal, and now it’s healing. The difference is amazing. They really monitor her. They know her every move, and they communicate with me. We’re so pleased. Her room is clean, and it’s an older place. The bed is clean and comfortable, and she has her own dresser. She is allowed to have pictures on her wall so she can make it as homey as she needs to. Their focus is more on the patient than the room. It’s very adequate, and they don’t let her in her room by herself very often. They try to keep her busy and out with the other people into activities. They’ll watch movies. They have exercises where they’ll bounce the balloon back and forth with one another. They’ll have a quiet time where they’ll dim the lights and play soft music, and a lady puts candles around so it’s very calming. They’ll play bingo or cards. They’ll have a time where they’ll read the newspaper together and do current events. Everybody gets to be involved at whatever level that they’re at. When somebody is not able to participate or starts acting up, they take them out and put them in a different area so nobody upsets anybody. They handle it as best they can.

My father-in-law has dementia, but not at the point where he has to be locked down yet. And my mother-in-law need a lot of assistance in getting in and out of bed, going to the bathroom, and changing her diaper. I chose Braswell Community Care because it has the skilled nursing area that mom needs and they also have an Alzheimer's unit. So they can be in the same facility and she can visit him when the time comes that he has to be in a locked down facility. They have a private room with bathroom facilities and a TV. They have activities at the center that they can participate as much as they can. Then they also have that individual care that they both need. Dad is also a fall risk. So right now, because he's fallen out of his chair a couple of times without having somebody right there watching him constantly, he's taken around in his chair with the nurses. He gets up in the morning and follows them wherever they go except for mealtime. Otherwise, he's with the nurses doing something all the time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had not any issues with them. They evaluate my in-laws constantly to find out what their next level of care might be, especially dad with his dementia. My mother-in-law has gotten to the point where she can knit again. Now, she's got other ladies in the center knitting. So they usually get her up in the afternoon and stay up till early evening out the front with the nurses or teaching others to knit. Braswell is an older facility. Average, nothing fancy. But for the care they need, it's great. They also accept Medicare/MediCal.
