"I was taken by ambulance to AFVW skilled nursing from Kaiser Hospital in Riverside. I had a conditions known as Guiliaume.Barret syndrome, most of my muscles were useless. I couldn't walk, had to be lifted in a wheelchair out of my bed via a lift. My hands were numb from neuropathy and I lost control of my bodily functions. I am an 85 year old Korean War veteran and was healthy until I had a fall in my shower on October 28. I had walking pneumonia, had 4.5 liters fluid removed from my lungs. Had lung surgery, spinal taps, MRI's Cat Scans and in short, I was a mess. Rehab at AFVW started the day after arrival. The therapist explained that each exercise was designed to wake up my muscles and waking up they did. From helpless I walked out behind a rollator 3 1/2 weeks later on my way home to my wife. Even the rehab therapist called my rapid recovery a miracle. My neurologist had warned me that I might never walk again. Folks, I can never say enough about the dedicated staff at this facility, not just the rehab but also the nursing, the CNA's that had to shower me, the nurses that had to give me my medications, insulin shots, I needed a catheter, not wanting to give too much info, but I will never forget how I experienced my medical miracle. "Village Hemet is the nicest one in the area. It's more high class. They have different programs where you buy your own condo and as you need assistance, they can provide it. When you need continual care, you move in to the main building, and they sell your condo for you and that money goes toward your account while you're in more care. The food is not gourmet level, but definitely better than food at a school cafeteria. They offer everything that you would need, like a library, beauty salon, barber shop, snack bar, and little coffee shops. It's more corporate owned. "
