"My daughter is a resident at the independent living community of StoryPoint Cordova. I like that they have some entertainment in the afternoons, where different people come in and play music or sing. They have a kind of art program where someone is there to show them how to do some artwork. I thought that was a good thing. They take the residents on outings. I'm not sure how many or what type of outings, but I do know they take them to go shopping sometimes. They play games and puzzles, too. A group can just go on their own and play whatever games they want to play. The big thing about it is that they have a big swimming pool, and that is what I like to do. I like swimming. They exercise in the pool, and you can also go and swim on your own. I've had lunch a few times and dinner several times there, and the food was very good. I say hi to the staff members, and they talk to me, but I haven't really sat down in the office or anything like that. Everyone's really friendly, though."

"I toured Brookdale Dogwood Creek. I liked it very much. There wasn't anything I liked least. The reason we chose the other facility was because they would accept him there. He needed both physical therapy and cognitive assistance. He needs some mental care, and he also has some deep tissue wounds that kept him out of some of the licensed places. He was not eligible to go to any places. The staff was nice and lovely. The food was delicious. The facility was very clean. The room sizes were lovely. It's a very cheerful place."

"American House Bartlett was a nice place. It was an excellent place, so I would recommend it for people who get into that situation that can't come and can't afford to go. So, I would recommend it. The person in charge of bringing people in was outstanding in terms of providing information. They were very patient in giving me a tour, and I really liked the room. The unit that I went to was excellent. They are located in nearby restaurants, hospitals, the interstate, and a major mall."

"My friend is at Germantown Plantation Senior Living Community. It's good and very nice. She has a one-bedroom apartment. It's very spacious, it has a patio, and she's happy with it. She can come and go as she wants. They have a lot of activities. People even come in and entertain. They have group things even at night where they will have a special. They have movies almost every night. They have a movie theater, which is comfortable. They have an indoor swimming pool, too. And they have good dining rooms. The food is very good. She loves it out there. She is getting to meet people a lot better than she did before. The place is very clean. There may be a small price for laundry, but housekeeping is included in the rent. And they give out her medication for a small extra fee, which is fine with me. The staff is very good. If my friend has an accident or anything, they come right away. I brought her home the other day and she didn't feel good. I got hold of a nurse, she came quickly and she took care of her. It is very, very good. They have their own doctor on staff. If she has any problems, that doctor would take care of it. If she needs blood work or if she needs an x-ray or something, they can do it there instead of going out someplace."

"I was very much impressed with Heritage at Irene Woods. I thought it was very accommodating. I like the layout. I like the roominess of the rooms. The people were very, very friendly. In fact, I ended up staying there about five hours and participated in their happy hour. The people working there were excellent. The facility itself was excellent."

"I toured. I like the room, and the atmosphere seems to be OK. They told me they got a private dining room if you want to have friends, and they do the laundry if you want them to. They have three meals a day, and they have a nurse on duty 24 hours a day. They clean the room once a week. They take you to the doctors if you need to go, and they take you shopping sometimes; it's OK. I've known about this place for a long time, since they built it, and I know people that have lived there. They were happy with it."

"I went to The Goldton At Southaven. It was a nice visit. I would recommend it to anyone. It's very nice. The staff showed me around, and she was very professional and very friendly. I love the atmosphere there. It was very clean. Everything was beautiful. That place was something else. It's fantastic. I didn't see a courtyard, and they don't have much parking space, and that's a negative there."

"Opus East Memphis was very expensive, but it's a very nice place. My godmother was in there. The staff was very helpful. They had very good food. Her room was beautiful. She had a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom. It was very well kept always. They always had something to do. They had bingo and birthday parties. They celebrate all the holidays with activities."

"Trezevant Manor was very well maintained, and the patients there were very well taken care of. You had to have a lot of finances to get in, but for the most part, it was very beautiful. They had amenities like a gym, an exercise room, and a pool, and they had several things on the ground to make the patients' busy. However, I would say if there was any way possible to make it a little bit more affordable for people that had average income instead of high income. I thought this particular retirement home was for people with a three-digit salary. I thought if they would reviewed the average of retirement people and their income and made it somewhat affordable to them, it would be a big help for people who really wanted to go into those types of places. "

"My grandmother is currently a resident of the Mary Galloway Home. We chose this facility because they offer assisted living options specifically for women. We felt my grandmother needed more social interactions, even though she was still largely able to care for herself independentally. The Mary Galloway Home offers the perfect combination of care and activities. Since entering the facility a year ago, she absolutely loves it and has made new friends with both the staff and other women. They have special parties, outings, games and movie nights. The property also has a beauty salon and an ice cream shop. On her birthday this past May, the residents and staff even held a birthday luncheon for her and some of the other women celebrating birthdays. We love that the assistants take great care to make sure my grandmother is taking her medications correctly and eating a healthy diet, yet still allow her to live on her own terms. I love that my grandmother is happy and loving life more than ever before. "

"Mid-South Supportive Living was a smaller place, but it was well-kept. The people there were very, very nice. But it was small and there was no outside area where people could walk. I noticed they would go on the bus to go shopping or wherever they wanted to go. If you wanted to go to the bank, the bus would take you there. It was okay. "
