"I toured Robinwood Retirement Resort, and that was very nice. The rooms are larger but a little outdated. They have great dining facilities and food is always available. They have an on-site gym. Kevin was super helpful and answered all my questions."

"I visited The Summit of Germantown. It was a wonderful experience. The place was beautiful. We loved all the amenities. The staff was very nice, and she answered all our questions. The one we looked at was a one-bedroom, and it was nice. It would have been adequate for my mother's needs. They showed us the gym, the swimming pool, where they have exercise with an instructor, the cafeteria, some of the rooms where they play games, the library, and things of that nature."

"Germantown Plantation is an excellent facility. It is very expensive, but you get what you pay for. They have different sized rooms like you can get a studio or a one bedroom. The facility is fairly new, and the staff seems to be really decent. They have entrées, and you can go in to order what you want. They have times setup for everybody, so it was fairly efficient. The place is good, but it is a little more expensive. "

"My mom moved into Royal Retreat. Everybody's nice and it's a nice place. She has a one-bedroom, it's got a living room and a kitchenette, and it's got a covered patio in the back. There's a refrigerator and stove, the apartment-size one. They offer meals, there's a dining room, and she's kind of picky with her food. It's kind of an old building, it was built in 1965. There's a movie night and bingo. They do snacks and stuff like that."

"I went to Town Village Audubon Park. I liked them. They got a gated park. It's not big, but it's big enough to let my dog off the leash. They got a swimming pool and I saw women doing water aerobics in there, and I was like 'I would like that.' They also had some classes where they were doing yoga and stuff. The atmosphere was nice. They got fireplaces all over the place and I love that especially in the wintertime when it's nice and cozy outside. They have several little restaurants in there and a big dining room upstairs where they have tablecloths and real napkins. It's nice. It's like a five-star restaurant. There are two fireplaces, and then they have a pool room. It's not just an older people's home. The staff were very nice. I didn't see anything wrong at all. The young man that I talked to and that walked around with me was just really, really nice. I met the maintenance men at the place, they're young men and not old people that hardly get around. They got young maintenance men, somebody that can get the work done and get it worked fast. From the outside to the inside, and the staff, everything was first-class. They showed me a room where if I slipped and fell as I did back in December, they would have people come in and I can do my physical therapy right there. "

"I am living at Sycamore Ridge Gracious Retirement Living. It does not have a swimming pool, but it has everything that everybody offered. It's newer. I fell in love with the staff, even the people living here, and it was less expensive. It is a great place. I recommend it to anybody. They are in the process of planting flowers right now, but it's very well kept and extremely clean. They are all eager to please and do anything they can to help. The food is fantastic. I'm gonna be gaining weight. We get three meals a day. I am never just sitting in my room. After you eat, you do the activities, and my favorite is bingo. They've got crafts, floral design, art, a sewing club, a book club, and a walking club. I can't even name all of them. It's really good. You can have anything you want here. The activity director makes them great. She's really perky, and she does everything. I have no complaints."

"I went to Heritage at Irene Woods. Jill was our tour director, she was very friendly, she introduced me to both staff and residents by name, she said they check on the residents every day. She obviously knew her residents, I met the chef, and I did eat there; the food was very good. They had a bistro as well as a dining room. To me, it can meet every need the residents can possibly have, if they wanna eat light, if they wanna take their food to the room, if they wanna eat in the dining room and socialize. They had gardens, all of the inside rooms all face the gardens. The rooms were carpeted, a full kitchen, very clean. She took me to see three rooms. I was very, very pleased, the furnishings were lovely, the tour was complete, she showed me the exercise room, beauty parlor, and the craft room. They also have a bus that will take the residents to Walgreens, Kroger, and Walmart, to doctors if they make an appointment ahead of time. They have a doctor on staff that's there once a week, but they have nurses on staff all the time. The facilities are beautiful, it looks like a hotel. Any resident that's gonna be living there is not feeling like they're dumped off in an old folk's home. I was extremely pleased."

"Bellevue Woods is a good place; I'm very impressed with it. They don't have any vacancies, so I'm on their waiting list. Everything is impressive. They have a dining area, which is very clean, and different kinds of activities. They have church service, Bible studies, a hair salon, a swimming pool, and a shuttle that takes the residents shopping."

"I'm at Avenida Watermarq at Germantown. It's 55 and older adult living. I like the security. The staff is courteous and helpful. I cook my own meals. It's clean. The structure is OK. They send us a monthly list of different classes, fitness classes, and games. They have a lot of different activities. I have a one-bedroom regular-sized apartment."

"Ave Maria Home Care Services was the only one that would charge by the hour instead of having a minimum of four hours. There's about three people that come and it's mainly medication management and then transportation, so it works really well for my parents. I would definitely recommend them. "

"I moved both my parents into this community. I thought it was just absolutely fabulous. When I first went in there, I thought, "Oh my gosh, this looks like a cruise ship." I have never seen anything like it. The care is assisted living and assisted living and memory care. There are pianos everywhere. They would call my dad a lot when somebody didn't show up or something and he would play the piano. He loves it. My mom is in memory care and then my dad is in the assisted living part. They're not in the same apartment, but he is with her for hours every single day. All the apartments are nice. They have a lot of different apartments depending on how much room you need and how much you want to spend. Down in the memory care, the apartments are not large. The bathroom is really wide, wide enough for wheelchairs. It has a huge shower so that they could just stand there and bathe the residents. My mom's room has a single bed with a nightstand and a lift chair. She has a regular size dresser and a television. There is a huge floor-to-ceiling window, which is really nice because you can open the wooden blind and just let the natural light come through. My dad's room has a kitchenette but no stove. He has a microwave in there. It is very nice. He has a living room area, which is plenty for him, and a great bathroom. In his bedroom, he has a double bed, a computer desk, a highboy, and two closets. So there's ample room in there. I get along great with the working staff. I think they're great. They just have a gift and love for it. They're just wonderful. If there are any problems, you can go to the nurse or to the director in that area with your issues and it gets corrected. We have a really hard time with my mom trying to get up and go to the bathroom by herself, and she would fall and hit her head every time. So they got a toileting schedule for every four hours. They didn't come in and ask her if she needed to go to the bathroom, they just took her. The food there is outstanding. They do not allow any canned foods. Everything is cooked fresh and purchased fresh. They have a two-page menu everyday. They'll come out and try to give them what they want. They have a lot of sugar-free desserts. They don't put much salt in their food. They have lots of fresh fruits, lots of fish, and chicken. There's always a hamburger or cheeseburger available if that's what you want. "

"Embassy Apartments was really nice. It was a gated senior's apartment, so it was pretty secure since they also watch out for each other. The lady who showed me around was polite. She showed me both their one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. The one-bedroom was small and did not have enough closet space. They had a laundry room, TV room, and receiving room. I saw the dining area where they could have functions and the pool."

"The staff at Elite Personal care-home are truly amazing. They pay great attention to detail and provide services that your family will need. My dad loves bingo and the staff would sit and they all enjoyed it. Elite Personal Care-home is a great place for your love one to age in place at. They offer assistant living and independent living. All you need to do is bring your clothes and a smile and they take care of the rest! I used them for respite but i am loving forward to long term placement for my dad with them! The rooms in the house are cozy, great in size and has all accommodations for my dad. "

"I've been a resident of The Atrium and Cottages at Lutheran Village. It's great that the people are very friendly. You've got access to dinner five nights a week, Monday through Friday, and that's included in the agreement. The maintenance staff is great. You don't have to fix any machines. All the maintenance was taken care of, including the washer, refrigerator, and grass. Utilities are rolled in, you don't have to worry about those bills. It's a triangular building and inside it's an atrium with palm trees and bromeliads and a little water feature. They bring in entertainment for special events. They have church services, movies, and exercise. They have one-bedrooms, a small two-bedroom, and a large two-bedroom. They have balconies. We're on the first floor, so we have a patio. Value-wise, you can't beat it. The food, it's not a five-star restaurant, but they cook and serve it. They will deliver it to your condo if you don't want to go down to the restaurant area."

"I moved into Feels Like Home. It is beautifully furnished and looks better than any other senior living place in this price range. Everything is kept clean. Right now, they only have about 40 to 45 residents and can handle about 100 more because the facility is created for that. The rooms are larger than most places, and rates for similar places are about $100 a month less. In independent living, you don’t get that much care, but it is available if you need help with your medication or taking your shower. The staff is small but very dedicated to helping the residents and knowing their needs. I’ve gotten a lot of help from people on the staff with moving my furniture. There is more one-on-one contact with the staff, the administration, the owners, and the maintenance staff. There is a feeling that they are here to help and serve you. I would like to see more recreational activities such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and creative activities. They have bingo and Family Feud, but they are very limited. Based upon its friendliness, cleanliness, interaction, and care for the residents, I would give it a 4. "
