"My wife's cousin is now at The Summit of Germantown. She has been there for a week now. It's excellent. It couldn't be better. I like the beautiful wide hallways. It's easygoing and secure. Excellent staff. My wife's cousin's room is adequate and essentially brand new. It's a bedroom, a kitchen, and a little living room. It's very nice. The dining area is very nice, too. My wife's cousin is happy with the food. The places we visited were very impressive. But it came down to a financial decision, and that's why we chose The Summit of Germantown. They're accommodating."

"My daughter is a resident at the independent living community of StoryPoint Cordova. I like that they have some entertainment in the afternoons, where different people come in and play music or sing. They have a kind of art program where someone is there to show them how to do some artwork. I thought that was a good thing. They take the residents on outings. I'm not sure how many or what type of outings, but I do know they take them to go shopping sometimes. They play games and puzzles, too. A group can just go on their own and play whatever games they want to play. The big thing about it is that they have a big swimming pool, and that is what I like to do. I like swimming. They exercise in the pool, and you can also go and swim on your own. I've had lunch a few times and dinner several times there, and the food was very good. I say hi to the staff members, and they talk to me, but I haven't really sat down in the office or anything like that. Everyone's really friendly, though."

"I did a tour of Town Village Audubon Park, and it was fine. I had no problems with them, the look of it, and the people in it. The cost of the of the apartment was in a price range that was OK for me. They're in an upscale neighborhood. This is not a congested area; it's in a neighborhood. The apartment was a one-bedroom, with a living room, kitchen, laundry room, and closet. The staff gave me all the information I asked for, and we toured the location. I think he told me everything I needed to know, although I did call back and ask a question, something I had forgotten to ask earlier. He was a very nice person. He was knowledgeable, he answered my questions, and I have no problems. In about an hour's trip, I couldn't see everything that was there; with what I saw, though, there was no problem."

"Robinwood Retirement Resort is one of the later ones built here. I loved it; I just don’t like Bartlett. I loved the atmosphere and all the programs that they have. They don’t have continuing care, but you can get private care. They have an agency within the building if you need assistance. It was very nice and upscale, and the personnel that I met were very cordial. The one thing I found unusual about Robinwood was that you can eat at any time of the day. They have a special time for meals, but if you get hungry at night or in the middle of the day, you could go in. They have what they call a "chef" area, and they have chef’s salad and food like that, which was very nice. It was very well done aesthetically and not expensive. If they were in another part of Memphis, I wouldn’t think twice; I’d move in there. They have a sauna and all kinds of activities, a movie theater, and a lot of stuff you can do there. "

"The Farms at Bailey Station was excellent. It was a great facility and a great location. It was a new facility. We looked at some of the rooms available for independent living and they all were quite accommodating. The design was such that you could function there even if you had to need some assistance. We saw the exercise facilities and the dining hall. They served us lunch and the food was better than a lunch that I would get from any typical restaurant around. It was very good. The staff were very accommodating, very friendly, and very knowledgeable."

"My tour of Avenida Watermarq at Germantown was wonderful. I looked at all the apartments that they had available, and they were all very lovely. They have quite a few amenities there. They have an art class, a pool, and a workout room, which is great. They had an activity that particular day that I was there. It was like music dancing. They had some food and wine, and they called it Wine Down Wednesdays. They had a theme which was Jungle Boogie. They had a lot of active seniors out there dancing. They were having a blast, and it was lively. They looked happy. So that pretty well made my mind up right there. If those 80-plus-year-old people were that active and were moving with the grace of somebody in their 40s, that means that they are following a very good program to keep them healthy and fit like that. The staff members are very nice. I like Linda the most. She's the sales consultant, and she's very personable and very reachable. She and I hit off very well because we had a lot in common. She's very perky, and I immediately loved her. I'll be getting a two-bedroom apartment. They have two-bedrooms and one-bedrooms. They have probably about five plans per bedroom unit, so they have a wide variety of floor plans. I was impressed. And there was another little girl. Her name is Victoria and she's actually in charge of the activities. She is the perkiest little thing. She is very lively, and she keeps those seniors lively. "

"I found Feels Like Home. It used to be Franklin Park but it's now on new ownership, and the name of it is Feels Like Home. The staff is very amenable and friendly. I haven't been there for the meal. They're still in the process of renovating it, but they have renovated it very well. They have a very large dining room, and there's a chapel. They have everything with the exception of a pool. They don't have a swimming pool but that's OK for me because I'm in a wheelchair anyway. I like all of it. The dining room, and the chapel are impressive. The rooms on the first floor may or may not have a patio. Upstairs on the second floor, they have patios, too. The living atmosphere seems to be open and nice. The dining area is clean, open and very nice, too. They have transportation to doctor's appointments and housekeeping. It's more affordable, too."

"Bellevue Woods is a good place; I'm very impressed with it. They don't have any vacancies, so I'm on their waiting list. Everything is impressive. They have a dining area, which is very clean, and different kinds of activities. They have church service, Bible studies, a hair salon, a swimming pool, and a shuttle that takes the residents shopping."

"I went to Silvercreek Senior Living Community. The rooms were fine. Just looking around, you could tell it was an older facility. The staff was nice and pleasant. I did not sample the food. The dining area was very adequate and looked very nice. They have quite a few amenities. They have a library, a swimming pool, a hot tub, and exercise rooms. They have offsite things that they take the residents to that are interested in going."

"Embassy Apartments was really nice. It was a gated senior's apartment, so it was pretty secure since they also watch out for each other. The lady who showed me around was polite. She showed me both their one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. The one-bedroom was small and did not have enough closet space. They had a laundry room, TV room, and receiving room. I saw the dining area where they could have functions and the pool."

"Opus East Memphis was very expensive, but it's a very nice place. My godmother was in there. The staff was very helpful. They had very good food. Her room was beautiful. She had a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom. It was very well kept always. They always had something to do. They had bingo and birthday parties. They celebrate all the holidays with activities."

This facility is very well maintained and offers great independence to seniors that only need limited assistance with their daily activities.
