"I did a tour of Town Village Audubon Park, and it was fine. I had no problems with them, the look of it, and the people in it. The cost of the of the apartment was in a price range that was OK for me. They're in an upscale neighborhood. This is not a congested area; it's in a neighborhood. The apartment was a one-bedroom, with a living room, kitchen, laundry room, and closet. The staff gave me all the information I asked for, and we toured the location. I think he told me everything I needed to know, although I did call back and ask a question, something I had forgotten to ask earlier. He was a very nice person. He was knowledgeable, he answered my questions, and I have no problems. In about an hour's trip, I couldn't see everything that was there; with what I saw, though, there was no problem."

"Robinwood Retirement Resort is one of the later ones built here. I loved it; I just don’t like Bartlett. I loved the atmosphere and all the programs that they have. They don’t have continuing care, but you can get private care. They have an agency within the building if you need assistance. It was very nice and upscale, and the personnel that I met were very cordial. The one thing I found unusual about Robinwood was that you can eat at any time of the day. They have a special time for meals, but if you get hungry at night or in the middle of the day, you could go in. They have what they call a "chef" area, and they have chef’s salad and food like that, which was very nice. It was very well done aesthetically and not expensive. If they were in another part of Memphis, I wouldn’t think twice; I’d move in there. They have a sauna and all kinds of activities, a movie theater, and a lot of stuff you can do there. "

"The Farms at Bailey Station was excellent. It was a great facility and a great location. It was a new facility. We looked at some of the rooms available for independent living and they all were quite accommodating. The design was such that you could function there even if you had to need some assistance. We saw the exercise facilities and the dining hall. They served us lunch and the food was better than a lunch that I would get from any typical restaurant around. It was very good. The staff were very accommodating, very friendly, and very knowledgeable."

"My visit was very friendly, thorough, and nice. The apartments are a little on the small side but I understand. The staff who toured me was very nice, knowledgeable and tried to understand what we were looking for. I think the place was very good."

"My tour of Avenida Watermarq at Germantown was wonderful. I looked at all the apartments that they had available, and they were all very lovely. They have quite a few amenities there. They have an art class, a pool, and a workout room, which is great. They had an activity that particular day that I was there. It was like music dancing. They had some food and wine, and they called it Wine Down Wednesdays. They had a theme which was Jungle Boogie. They had a lot of active seniors out there dancing. They were having a blast, and it was lively. They looked happy. So that pretty well made my mind up right there. If those 80-plus-year-old people were that active and were moving with the grace of somebody in their 40s, that means that they are following a very good program to keep them healthy and fit like that. The staff members are very nice. I like Linda the most. She's the sales consultant, and she's very personable and very reachable. She and I hit off very well because we had a lot in common. She's very perky, and I immediately loved her. I'll be getting a two-bedroom apartment. They have two-bedrooms and one-bedrooms. They have probably about five plans per bedroom unit, so they have a wide variety of floor plans. I was impressed. And there was another little girl. Her name is Victoria and she's actually in charge of the activities. She is the perkiest little thing. She is very lively, and she keeps those seniors lively. "

"I found Feels Like Home. It used to be Franklin Park but it's now on new ownership, and the name of it is Feels Like Home. The staff is very amenable and friendly. I haven't been there for the meal. They're still in the process of renovating it, but they have renovated it very well. They have a very large dining room, and there's a chapel. They have everything with the exception of a pool. They don't have a swimming pool but that's OK for me because I'm in a wheelchair anyway. I like all of it. The dining room, and the chapel are impressive. The rooms on the first floor may or may not have a patio. Upstairs on the second floor, they have patios, too. The living atmosphere seems to be open and nice. The dining area is clean, open and very nice, too. They have transportation to doctor's appointments and housekeeping. It's more affordable, too."

"Kirby Pines is a unique place to live! The community is on 60 acres of pristine grounds, complete with a lake, greenhouse with garden plots, a walking trail through woods, gazebo for events, with a welcoming entrance lobby which has been recently redecorated. The activities are too numerous to list, but include musical programs, Mahjongg, bridge and other games, water aerobics, all kinds of painting and crafts, pool, ballroom dancing classes, vespers and religious services. All levels of medical care are available, from independent resident apartments or garden homes, to assisted living, to memory care, and beyond. Dedicated and caring staff throughout. There’s a movie theatre, a fully staffed woodworking shop, Performing Arts Center that holds several hundred people, pool room, crafts room, public puzzle table, concession shop, exercise classes, choir. Daily food selections are outstanding and include elaborate holiday celebrations coordinated by our chef and kitchen. BUT, the people who live here create the heart! An amazingly warm and caring community! More can be said, but if you don’t have a family, you’ll definitely be part of one here. Come check us out – you’ll be glad you did. (Residents of 6+ years)"

"Bellevue Woods is a good place; I'm very impressed with it. They don't have any vacancies, so I'm on their waiting list. Everything is impressive. They have a dining area, which is very clean, and different kinds of activities. They have church service, Bible studies, a hair salon, a swimming pool, and a shuttle that takes the residents shopping."

"I went to Silvercreek Senior Living Community. The rooms were fine. Just looking around, you could tell it was an older facility. The staff was nice and pleasant. I did not sample the food. The dining area was very adequate and looked very nice. They have quite a few amenities. They have a library, a swimming pool, a hot tub, and exercise rooms. They have offsite things that they take the residents to that are interested in going."

"I am living in Shelby Station's independent living community. I chose it because I live in an apartment of my own, and not in a building with a lot more people. My apartment is quaint and nice. It's roomy enough for one person. The facilities are clean, and there are no pests. It's nicely painted and has a nice bathroom. It also has a big pantry. I provide and cook my own meals. The coordinator sends out papers weekly about each activity that is going to happen. Like tomorrow, we're getting our vision checked, and we don't need to worry about going anywhere to do that, because they come here to do it, which is good. They also have a food bank that comes here, and that's another good thing. The place is clean, and they keep the grounds nice. The staff is very helpful. They make sure that you don't need anything. If you need anything from maintenance, I might call them at 3, and no later than 3:10, they're here doing whatever I called them for. My apartment was also really clean when I moved in. It's worth what I pay, because I don't have to pay utility charges."

"Embassy Apartments was really nice. It was a gated senior's apartment, so it was pretty secure since they also watch out for each other. The lady who showed me around was polite. She showed me both their one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. The one-bedroom was small and did not have enough closet space. They had a laundry room, TV room, and receiving room. I saw the dining area where they could have functions and the pool."

"Opus East Memphis was very expensive, but it's a very nice place. My godmother was in there. The staff was very helpful. They had very good food. Her room was beautiful. She had a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom. It was very well kept always. They always had something to do. They had bingo and birthday parties. They celebrate all the holidays with activities."
