"I'm considering Viva Senior Living at Easley for my sister if everything goes well. Everybody I've talked to seemed real nice and helpful in explaining things. I've had family members there before and everything was OK."

"My father has moved into The Residences at Park Place. It was a good location. Our family is close. The staff helped us organize and plan the move. It's very clean. It doesn't look like a hospital. It looks very homey and the staff was very friendly. The food was wonderful. He's enjoying the meals. Even on the day we moved in, our family was able to sit down and have a meal together, just as kind of a little welcome. They have pet therapy. They had a dog come in the other day that the residents can visit with and pet. They have a lot of game nights, bingo, cards and puzzles, and a lot of exercise opportunities where they'll have an exercise class or just some one-on-one chances to get some physical activity."

"The Oaks at Seneca is my favorite place so far. They all offer basically the same thing, but the biggest thing that I liked about The Oaks at Seneca was the fact that they don't upcharge for later-on issues, whereas the others do. They start out a little higher, but in the long run you're better off with that. The person I'm trying to place is going to get worse, so he is going to need more care, so we're trying to put that together, and that seems to be the best place at this point. The rooms were adequate. The staff who gave the tour was very nice, pleasant, and organized. Their dining area was adequate, too."

"I toured The Willows of Easley. My sister-in-law was going to reside there, but when they interviewed her and showed her the place, she was just too weak. They said they won't be able to take care of her. The employees were nice. I didn't taste the food, but I did see the menu. It looked delicious. Everything looked great. It's not an apartment. It's just one bedroom with one bath included. They were doing games and puzzles and things like that. They had a large area where people could gather and watch movies and stuff like that. They were very accommodating and very helpful."

"Oaks at Chanticleer is exclusively memory care. I was about ready to move in myself based on just how impressed I was with the facilities and with the things they do. They look good. The marketing director spoke to the head nurse and said, 'This is our nurse.' He introduced me and my sister. They have an ice cream shop there. The appearance and facilities looked like they were first-rate to me. There is a good variety of things for the residents to do. I was impressed with the place."

"We toured Belvedere Commons of Seneca. It was very clean, and it looked like they were very organized. I felt like it was a good place. The rooms were about the same as all the others, but they were adequate. Everything was up to what it should be. I've not tried their food, but the dining area was adequate. The staff who gave the tour was excellent. They're all very helpful. If there are any negatives, I would say that they charge for cable, whereas all the others don't. They also charge for different levels of care."

"TerraBella Greenville is a really good facility. If I were to make a move, I think it might be the one I would go with. The staff was excellent and very friendly. I met everybody, and some of the residents also. I found there were a lot of veterans there, which was one of my original plans; it was to look strictly for a veteran home, but this satisfies that. What I liked the least is that facility does have some age on it, but I understand they are now part of Discovery Senior, which is now the largest organization of its kind in the country. Not that it was in bad shape, it's just that you could see that some of the style was older and that they'd like to get it a little bit more into this century. The staff was awesome. I didn't expect to meet as many of the staff as I did, but I met the lady who was giving me the tour, who was like the membership director, and then the director of the whole place. I met the business manager and the guy who runs security. They have security 24/7 there. I met some of the veterans who were residents. I even met the lady who runs the hair salon. It's quite an organization. I didn't have time for the meal, but they said, "We can send the plate with you to go." They had a nice cafeteria area. Everything looked like it was in good working order. I rode up and down the elevator a couple of times. Everything seemed clean. I went into a couple of different rooms so they could show me the different styles of the layout. I was pleased with that. They had several different options available, and they offered me one that was a manager's suite that had just been opened up. It was very nice, but I don't need that much space. They have several good options, but they have almost 100% capacity, so I'm hoping they have something available when I am ready to settle down."

"We toured Waterstone on Augusta. What I liked about it was, number one, it was a newer facility. Number two, the care that we saw exhibited there seemed excellent. The people there were very accommodating. The facility itself was excellent, very clean and sanitary. There were lots of activities for the senior adults to get involved in, and the people there were just extraordinary."

"My mother will be moving into Kauhale Pettigru. I liked the location. It's convenient to my hometown and for all my siblings to get to. I liked the setting. It's in Downtown Greenville, so there are lots of trees and pretty outdoors. I liked that it's a smaller community. There are 20 people in memory care. It would be more conducive to the staff being more attentive. They're not overloaded. I had a pleasant experience. I liked the director who showed me around. She's very nice, very knowledgeable, and she knows her stuff. It was very clean. They had a patio and nice outdoor spaces. They had one that had a grill setup and an outdoor picnic area. They had another one that was sort of like a walking trail that just looped around the back. It was really nice."

"We toured The Blake at Hollingsworth Park. Compared to other facilities, it was pretty glamorous and it was more expensive. The staff during the tour was excellent. Everybody was very welcoming. The dining was more like a restaurant, so it was very nice. The room accommodations were very beautiful. They had a beautiful courtyard area. There was a media room. This is a very nice high-end facility."

"I went to see Maple Brook Terrace. It was very well-organized and well-managed. The entire place is very well maintained. For the time that I was there, it was very clean. With everything that they offer, I think the place is worth selecting. I didn't get a chance to intermingle with the staff other than the lady who was giving the tour and she was an excellent tour guide. I didn't have enough time to participate in one of the lunches that they were having, but she took me to a couple of rooms. One of the residents also allowed us into a room and showed us what it was like inside with furnishings and all that stuff. The room was very clean and very organized. You could tell that somebody watches out for their well-being. I don't think there's anything more that I can say other than high praise for the way they maintain the place."

"I toured Haywood Estates by Barclay House. It's very clean and very nice. The people were also very pleasant, but the mean age was a little bit high for me. The staff was nice. The food was very good. They have a library. In the gym, there was nobody in there, but the equipment looked like it operated and it was clean. Their dining room was very clean. It didn't smell like a community dining room. It was all very pleasant."

"The Legacy at Southpointe Drive was nice. Claudia, the director, was wonderful. She's very good at what she does. The facility has two floors, so some of the residents stay upstairs and some of them are downstairs. But the activities are all downstairs, so that's the only thing we didn't like about it. My mother-in-law can't go up and down. She can't walk very far without getting winded, so that would be kind of difficult for her to have to go downstairs and do the things that are there. They have a studio apartment. It was big enough; it was a good size. They have an event calendar and they talked about the communities coming in. They have activities. They have a garden. The dining room was not very big, but it was nice."

"My mom is in the nursing home at NHC HealthCare - Anderson. I'm very pleased. It seems that they have enough caretakers to take care of the people that are in there and personal attention was given when needed. They're pureeing her food; I didn't have a meal there. They play bingo, they have movies in the evening, and they also do crafts."
