"My former mother-in-law and friend, Margaret has been at Cascades for years. She is now on hospice. The staff has always been helpful to me. The care I witnessed was good. Everyone there seems sincerely pleasant. I didn’t detect any stress among the staff or any of the other residents. I think the residents are well cared for. They have been very lenient with visitation during this difficult time for Margaret’s friends and family."

"My mom is currently at The Shoal for rehab. This is her second time, and they're amazing. They get her up and move in just a short 20 days. They're helping her with PT and OT to build strength. They've already gotten her out of the wheelchair into a walker, so that's great. Everybody's been good, very supportive, and just enough push to get her motivated to get her out of the wheelchair and walk. It's a very clean facility. She's in a private room. It's got a full bath and everything. She's very picky, and she is on her diabetic menu, so they do accommodate based on your needs. The staff was very communicative. They call me all the time, and I like that. They're always punctual to answer any questions I have. They're really good. My mom's happy with the activities too, because when she's not doing her OT, she is running the halls in her wheelchair meeting people. I think it's $196 a day with her insurance after 20 days, and I think that's pretty fair."

"At first this was a good place with nice people. Lots of activities. They took really good care of mom even though she couldn't do to much due to MS. She was meeting people (nurses) and I met people. We really thought this was going to work out. A few years into it things were not doing good at the facility. They didn't pay bills on time and had mom life ins cancelled. She was able to get a new one. Also poor care had mom in and out of hospital. I really feel sorry for older people getting taken advantage of, and knowing that some day I will probably be one of those people. Anyways, Finally, new management came in and some people went and some new ones came. Lucky for mom she made new friends(nurses) and we both love them. The facility has been going thru renovations and is looking good. I really like the new human resource person and business admin., they are great. "

"I liked Baywind Village. They were friendly and helpful. I like the size of the rooms better than the semi-private. After my husband was in the hospital, they didn't have a bed. Because he has Alzheimer's and he is not friendly, I wasn't really that focused on the activities. I like the room. I liked the director of nursing, and everyone was friendly. I just like the feeling here better than the other place I visited. "

"The residents were bedridden or wheelchair bound. They were in a pretty sad situation and were at the end of life. The staff were nice and courteous. It's appealing, but the smell wasn't that good at Harbourview Care Center. They should improve on cleanliness. "

"My father stayed at the Regency Village for almost two years. It was not his first assisted living facility he stayed in. He had had problems at the other facilities. Regency Village is sparkling clean, something that is paramount. That is not that easy to achieve. Secondly, the food was really good, healthy and prepared with loving care. Most important, everyone one we met that worked there really cared! We visited my father everyday and stayed for several hours. In addition, the place was decorated bright and cheery, just walking in brings a smile to your face. The staff was patient and spoke gently with the residents. A task that is not always easy when dealing with some of the residents who have anger issues due to brain problems. They all always had smiles on their faces! They were also careful with medication and care. In addition, they never hesitated in an emergency, if a resident needed to be rushed to the hospital or taken to the doctor, they handled it with total professionalism! We never had to worry when my father was a resident at Regency Village; there, he was with family! "

"The only facility that Charles has been to is Kindred Rehabilitation Hospital, but that’s when he came out of the hospital. It’s fantastic; one of the very best around. It has great nursing and great facilities. They stay in touch with the family; they let you know what’s going on. They will give you updates. There is always somebody manning the telephones; you can go in at anytime. I could not express my gratitude to the people there. "

"This is a very nice, convenient facility. It's kept clean, with no foul odors, and when needing assistance, the staff is very willing to help. Our parents are at this facility, and we feel it's a safe, positive environment for them to reside. The staff are friendly and go the extra mile to make daily activities run smoothly. Almost every day, it seems that there is a function going on in the dining area for the residents. Bingo, ice cream socials, residents can attend mass, painting classes, etc. One parent has been at this facility for over two years, and we have been very happy with the staff and facility. I do recommend this location to others. (This facility is also close to hospitals and many doctors offices...very convenient.)"

"My mother came to the facility sick. The staff was on top of things but to be fair, the hospital released mom to early. Mom came into the facility at 7pm and the next day went back to hospital 8pm. All I can say it that they did stay with mom until she could be transported back to the hospital. Laurel Court made the right call to send mom back to the hospital. "

"I wouldn’t take mother back to ManorCare Health Services. The place was a dump. Everything is broken, and it’s in horrible repair. You had to bang on the light to get it to come on. The dining area was horrible; the residents in assisted and the ones that could go in by themselves all ate in one area. It was horrible food, horrible service, and a horrible atmosphere. It was $1500 a month more than where she’s at now, but I did like her doctor. She was there a long time, long enough to be dropped by her insurance. I got a prescription bill for $2300 for one month, and they didn’t advise me that I needed to get her on Medicare. Never was there a care plan meeting. They moved her to another wing where there was no therapy, and while she was there, she got pneumonia again. The a/c could not be controlled; it was too cold. I went back a week later. She was still in that room freezing to death. I was freezing to death, and after a fit, they moved her. "

"This is my second stay at Ignite Medical Resort Webster. The facility is beautiful. The rooms are surprisingly spacious. Each resident has their own room. There are outstanding amenities including a salon, luxe cafe and restaurant. The food is excellent. i've enjoyed each meal. The staff are friendly and caring. Nelly was one of my caregivers. She was friendly and professional and did everything possible to make my stay here as comfortable as possible. My only complaints are the internet doesn't stay connected and the tv channel listing is wrong. I am not a nursing home resident but there is no other option. I highly recommend Ignite and staff."

"I'm staying in Friendship Haven Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. It's very nice. It's very large. The room is very nice and very good. Housekeeping comes in every day and cleans the room. The staff are very courteous and very prompt when you call. They have a physical therapy gym, a dining room, and an activities room. I haven't been in all the hallways. I think there's five hallways, and I'm in the rehab hallway, and I have a room to myself. The food is good. They've got very good menus. Very prompt delivery for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have good activities, and they have games and things. I would recommend it."

"My dad was at Winchester Lodge Healthcare Center. It was right across the street from my mom's house. It was a brief rehab, post-hospital kind of stay. Everything was really positive. At that time it was pre-COVID, so my mom got to spend a lot of time with him, and do meals with him. My brother and sister got to visit quite a bit just to make sure that he was doing OK. He was recovering from a surgery. In that regard we were very happy with it. It was super convenient for everybody because it was in Alvin, and that's where they all lived. I don't live there, but it's where they all live. They were more appreciative because they could bring him out of the hospital and bring him closer to home until he got a little bit better and a little bit stronger. The physician came and rounded there regularly with a nurse practitioner, and that gave them a higher level of confidence that they will catch something early if anything was not going right. My dad seemed happy there. He liked that everybody could visit him and stay with him, but he stayed there pre-COVID, so there weren't restrictions. They liked the food, it was more like a cafeteria style kind of food, but it was good. He was eating, so he was doing good. The facility probably does not give off the best impression, but I think it was an older facility that was formerly something else. I think it has been around for 40 or 50 years. It has only been a nursing home for a while. It does not give you the best impression, but they keep it fine. It just looked dated, but it was clean. It probably was what you would expect for an older nursing home. That was maybe the only thing that was a little off-putting, because you are thinking, "Are they in this decade?" But everything else was good. They maintained it, but your initial impression would be that it is just a little dated. My dad was assigned to do speech, physical therapy, and occupational therapy at that time for all his conditions combined. It was not just the surgery, but they evaluated him overall. I think there were other therapies available while he was there, so that was good."

"My mother is in Laporte Healthcare Center. They make good food. The people are really nice and friendly. It's really nice. They share rooms that have two beds, dressers, and a little nightstands. You have to furnish the TV yourself. They don't have a phone and don't have their own restroom. "
