"My brother is currently in Spring Branch Transitional Care Center. It's probably one of the better places that has taken some time to meet with me and sit with me. They let me know what I can provide, what they can offer, and what they can do. It's an older place but they have plenty of staff. They are well-staffed and have plenty of doctors. Several doctors are there 24 hours a day. They have eight dining areas. They've got patios and common areas. They have a lot of people there and they have to furnish their own TV but they have plenty of coverage, libraries, and all that stuff. The building overall is an older unit but they maintained it pretty well and it's pretty nice."

"Hallmark was clean and well-organized. It was excellent. If I were going to move, that's where I would move. The woman who took us through was outstanding. Everything was in beautiful order. The rooms were handsomely set-up. The tour was excellent. We were there for lunch, and the food was excellent. It was apparent that plenty of the things were set-up. They had a swimming pool."

"When we arrived at this facility My wife had just had femur surgery requiring a rod be implanted along her leg. She could not even stand up or go to a bathroom for the most basic needs. The nurses were terrific and care for her with compasion and competence. She had no apetite but the food was delicious and nourished her through the days. Two therapists were assigned to her. The Physical therapist cared for her structure and strenght recovery while the Occupational therapist cared for preparing her to do all basic needs she was accostumed to do like shower, wash/fold clothes, cook. They were two true professionals that nursed my wife to life with gentleness and firmness as the situation required. Though there are many different departments handling the miriad of details her recovery required, it is marvelous all of them worked independently and yet allways tendered to her needs in a reasonable timely fashion. This experience has humbled us and has enriched greatly our cultural awareness of all the wonderful people we encountered at Vosswood. Yes, we recomend this place wholeheartly. My wife is pain free and has recovered her independence."

"Woodridge looked OK. One of my biggest priorities was that it’s close to my house and my daughter’s house, and they accept Medicaid. It’s more like a hospital as far as the rooms were concerned. They had a large, open dining area that looked like a buffet line; you get a tray and move down a line. The administrator was very nice and sympathetic with my situation with my wife. It was clean and had some outside areas that looked nice. "

"My aunt was at Spring Branch Healthcare when she was released from the hospital. For a period there, she had to wear a diaper and they would not change her very often. She would tell them I need to be changed they would have to go hunt for diapers and wipes and it would take 20 minutes before they would come back. There was some nice people there but it was just very strange how they acted. One thing positive about this facility is that the food was very good. It smelled good and tasted good. Majority of the patients there were people in their wheelchairs with their heads hanging down and their mouths open. "

"My grandfather was a resident here. It's best quality by far was the staff. My grandfather had bouts of dementia and was not always the nicest person, but the staff always treated him with patience and kindness. When he had his wits about him he always spoke well of them. The facilities are clean. Not everything is brand new, but everything is in working order and everything is neat and orderly. The facility was small, but not crowded, and it is very conveniently located right next to Memorial Herman Northwest Hospital for emergency care. Care seems specific to the needs of each patient, in my experience at least. My grandfather had a roommate and they were always treated as unique and individual. They were very willing to work with us on payment through medicare and our insurance, and there were never any of the usual headaches that normally come with medical billing. They kept him safe and as comfortable as was possible in his last years, and that's a wonderful thing. Therapy team has been able to get him to participate more than he has ever at home. He looks so much better, social services handling discharge greatly. "My step dad just moved into this facility which has new owners as of today. They are re vamping the whole building. The grounds are nicely maintained and the building inside and out is clean. There is faint smell when you walk down the halls but it is a much better facility than others I have visited. The staff including the admissions director, receptionist, dietician, activities director, maintenance men, LVN, and nurses' aid, and social worker are all people I have met. They all have been very nice. The receptionist answers the phone on the first ring when we call to inquire about things. These are all things I like about the place. The room itself is on the smaller side, and it is plain, but we went in and decorated it and will continue to create a home-like environment for my step father. The other place he was in was horrible and had people speaking rudely and disrespectfully to both my mother and their residents. At Stoneybrook, I have found everyone to be quite informative, upfront, and transparent about billing, care, and protocol. This is refreshing and my step dad is happy he is there. It isn't the fanciest of facilities, but what does that matter if it is clean and the staff is caring, polite, and prompt in the care of a loved one? "

"My father moved from Austin to Treemont Health Care Center a little over a year ago in order to be closer to family after living alone and experiencing health issues. My sisters and I knew it would be a huge transition for him; however, he chose to embrace the Treemont Lifestyle. The staff has taken the time to get to know him, and he knows the staff by name. The variety of activities is a plus, and he looks forward to participating regularly. Who knew he would love to color? The attentiveness and quality of care from the administration, direct care/nursing staff and the therapy has made a positive impact on his demeanor and overall happiness. We are truly grateful for the Treemont family. "

"While in Houston, I stopped by a facility near my hotel to see how much different the homes in Houston are vs. the homes in Dallas. I was impressed with the fine furniture, nice therapy gym, and pleasant residents. Everyone seemed to enjoy their work place as well as the residents were all interactive with each other as well as the the staff. There was surprisingly no odors which is common for nursing facilities. "

"Victory Home Health serviced me the after surgery, I am not elderly, but I had an extensive surgery. The services that they had were I have somebody to come in that helped me and assisted me from the hospital. She gets my prescriptions, she made sure that I had meals, she helped me bathe and takes care of my personal care. The caregiver and the people in the office were absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend them to anybody else. "

"I have a love one in this facility .Yes they may have some issues sometime .What facility dont? I know that if I have any concern at all I can let them know about it and they will adress them right away.I would not place my love one in a facility that I am not comfortable with. When I leave to go home I know she is going to receive the best care. The staff truly care and thats important to me.The therapy team is awsome. That is the best rehab team I have ever seen. They truly are well trained therapist. My mother and I are very happy with our decision to come to this facility . We wouldnt change it for nothing in the world. This is her home and as the staff would say her second family. "

"It is a facility that in my opinion treats their members like family. The environment was positive and the staff and employees were very kind and helpful while we toured. They were able to answer all of our questions and concerns and treated us with kindness. Kindness goes a long ways. I very much appreciated all their help during this time of transition for my family and I."

"My husband is in Silverado Hermann Park. It's excellent. The staff is very caring, very efficient, and knowledgeable. I can't say enough; they're just wonderful. The whole place is very well run. The food is great. It's great all around. His room is fine. I'm able to put pictures up, and they have a TV, but I bought a larger one because he is visually impaired. They have a lovely little dog for the community, and the residents just love him. He's in the second level of their care, so he doesn't have as much, but they have a lovely dining room and a common room. Right now, their activities are somewhat limited. They have performers come in, and there are a lot of different things that they do for them. I don't get to come every day, but I get to see him enough to know that there's plenty to do. Everybody I've met is just as wonderful as they can be with me. They're very kind and very supportive, and they keep me informed. I have no problems at all with them. He's been there for almost a month now, and it's been great."

"Brazos Towers at Bayou Manor was a lovely place. There were three women I met with who were residents, and we had coffee together, and I was able to ask questions of them and hear their experiences. They had all lived there for eight years. They were delightful and very nice people. It looks like a nice place. Their financial requirements are pretty high. If you sign up for it, it's continuing care, and they will not put you out if you run out of money. But they require a substantial amount of money. It's invested and kept. If you don't use the money, 90% of it is refunded, but it still ties a lot of capital. They told me that most people lived there for 12 years, but they do have people who are over 100 living there. The staff took me around and showed me about three available apartments. One of them was in the new section that was built in the last few years. It was more of a modern build. I preferred the older building, which had a more traditional feel to it."

"We went to TIRR Memorial Hermann, and that was a wonderful place; however, Gala was not ready for that level of therapy at the time in her journey with her strokes. It’s a very wonderful place; they are the best of the best and had excellent customer service. The food and the staff were good. They did a lot for Gala. They have total body recovery, cooking, OT, PT, speech, swimming pools, and aquatics therapy. Gabrielle Giffords -- the congresswoman that was shot -- recovered there. It was homey, and there were a lot of testimonials on the wall from people that had recovered there. They were so impressed. They actually have a doctor that worked there, and they have a lot of people that come back as volunteers. "

"A Reassuring Nursing Home Visit: Clean, Caring, and Comfortable Choosing a nursing home for a loved one can be a difficult and emotional decision. As someone who values cleanliness and compassionate care, I knew I needed to visit a few facilities before making my choice. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit one that not only met my standards but also made me feel comfortable and secure in my decision. Cleanliness That Stands Out When I arrived at the nursing home, my first concern was how clean the facility was. After all, a clean environment is essential for both the comfort and health of the residents. To my relief, the common areas were spotless—floors were freshly swept, and the furniture was well-maintained. The restrooms, which I always check first, were pristine. It was clear that maintaining high hygiene standards was a priority for the staff. The residents' rooms were tidy and well-kept as well, showing a commitment to creating a welcoming space for everyone. The cleanliness of the facility gave me immediate peace of mind. It’s easy to overlook, but when you see a facility that takes pride in its surroundings, it speaks volumes about the care provided inside. The Helpfulness of the Staff What really stood out to me, however, was how helpful and attentive the staff was during my visit. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and genuine kindness. One staff member took the time to give me a tour, patiently answering all my questions about daily routines, resident care, and safety protocols. They didn’t rush through the visit and made sure I felt comfortable at every step. I also noticed the way the staff interacted with the residents. There was no shortage of smiles, encouragement, and personal attention. It was evident that the staff were not just doing their jobs—they genuinely cared about the well-being of those they cared for. This made me feel more confident that my loved one would be in good hands if they were to be admitted. Feeling Secure in My Decision As I walked through the facility, I couldn’t help but think about how important it is for families to feel at ease with their choices. Visiting a nursing home is about more than just checking off a list of requirements. It’s about feeling comfortable with the environment and the people who will be responsible for your loved one's care. The combination of cleanliness and caring staff made me feel secure in my decision. I was no longer overwhelmed by doubt; instead, I felt reassured that this was a place where my loved one could thrive. The staff made me feel like I wasn’t just another visitor—they made me feel like family. Conclusion Visiting a nursing home is a big step, but it's an important one. Whether you're seeking a place for a loved one or just learning about your options, take the time to consider the cleanliness, the staff, and the overall environment. It’s these factors that will help you feel confident in your decision. If you’re in the process of selecting a facility, I encourage you to trust your instincts. Look for a place that values both cleanliness and compassionate care. Your loved one deserves to be in a place that makes them feel safe, secure, and well cared for."
