The Best Assisted Living Communities in Brazoria County, TX

"We visited the assisted living facility of Orchard Park at Victory Lakes for my mother. She will be moving into the facility. We really love it, that's why we chose it. It's a beautiful place, and the rooms and everything are very clean. There is no smell, and when you go in, it smells like you walked into a high-class hotel. It's very nice and everything's well-kept. They have an award-winning chef, too. The room we chose for her is very big, and she has a patio that opens up into a courtyard. They have a garden and bird feeders there. The nurse checked my mom out so we could see what level of care she's going to need. She's going to need a level one starting, but I think they have four or five levels. They have two wings, which are the memory wing and the assisted living wing. She's going into the assisted living wing. They are not the cheapest place, and we got the biggest room that they have. We could have gotten cheaper in some of the others we looked at, but we really liked the people and everything about this place. For one thing, it's close to all the facilities that my mother uses, like her doctor, and it's also close to my brother. Their lunchroom was very nice. They had arts and crafts, a spa where they could get their nails done or get a haircut. They take people on trips, too. They can go to Louisiana and go gambling if they want, and I think they even offer cruises for some of them. During our tour, everybody was super friendly and introduced themselves. Even the residents were nice and spoke to us, so it was very nice."

"My dad was at Optimum Personal Care and they did a wonderful job. A friend referred me to this place. They have great staff who are very loving and caring. I don’t know what I would have done without them. They met his medical and dietary needs and at the same time makes him comfortable. This place was a good fit for us to have my dad stay at Optimum Personal Care. He was in a room and it was a good sized one. "

"My wife was in Discovery Village Clear Lake in assisted living. It's a nice place, the food was good, and the service was very good. It's just expensive. It's like $7000 a month. The room, the staff and everything were very good. It was like a small apartment, two-room, with a full bath and shower. They had entertainment at least a couple of times a week. They have a library and a little courtyard. It was very good."

"The Reserve at First Colony's assisted living was very nice. It was clean and comfortable. The apartments were quiet and nice. A little bit isolated, but they were okay. The staff who toured me was very nice and very accommodating. The dining area was nice, clean, and spacious. It was a pretty friendly environment too. They have a library and a place for exercise. They also have a really nice area for the residents to just socialize."

"The staff in the residents at Carriage Inn - Lake Jackson were all very friendly when I toured. The accommodations were very nice, they had more space and a full kitchen compared to the other place I toured. All the shared spaces or community spaces were very nice, the outdoor courtyard was beautiful, and they had flowers and pathways. It's just a nice facility all around. The living space was also more accommodating, there was more space. It's outside of our price range, but they still have better prices than the other ones I toured."

"I am currently at Sodalis Lake Jackson. It's assisted living so I don't have a stove or anything in this room. It's just a room with a refrigerator and a sink. It's a very nice place, but the only thing I don't like is it's not independent living. I want a kitchen, I want a stove to cook for myself, that's the only thing that I don't like. The food's pretty good and the management is nice. Overall, it's a nice place. I have one-room with two closets and a bathroom. It's just one room with a bed and everything is in one room. They exercise every morning, they have bingo, and they have happy hour on Wednesdays and Fridays. This next Monday they're going to have bingo, next Monday they're going to have Cornhole Tournament, and then they're going to have a hot fudge sundae bar. So it's a nice place. I have been happy here, so I would rate the staff highly. If I look at the activities calendar, they have something every day. The facilities are very clean. I think it's very expensive for what I pay for, for one room plus meals. I'm content here, they give me my meds in the morning."

"Sodalis Texas City was a very nice place. It was clean and the people were friendly. The price was just right. I liked that it had lots of choices of activities and things to do and it wasn't too far away from where we live. Beth was wonderful. She gave us a tour and was very nice. All the staff that she introduced us to were very friendly. The facility smelled nice. The size of the rooms was perfect."

"The place that I like the best down here is the Tradition-Buffalo Speedway. I like all of their amenities. The staff who toured us were very welcoming, very informative, and very helpful. I tried their food, and it's excellent. There's an indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium, an indoor courtyard, and balconies if you're not on the ground floor. There are several facilities for eating, like a café and formal dining. There's also indoor parking. It's just wonderful."

"We went to Brookdale Sugar Land. It's really small. I like it. I like the fact that it is one story, so my brother would be on the ground floor. I thought he was going to choose it because of its size and fact that it's quiet and there's not a lot going on. He's a little bit of a recluse, and he keeps to himself. One of the reasons why I thought he would choose it is that there are just not that many people there. I was really impressed with them, though. I like the staff who gave the tour. She was really friendly. They have an area in the middle of the complex that is outdoors. They have seats out there and everything. They have some chickens there, and I thought that was pretty cool. It was clean, and it seemed like a nice place. However, I don't think that the ladies took that much interest in individual people in the building. Nevertheless, it's one of the nicer places."

"I'm in the assisted living side of The Village of Meyerland. It's very nice. I have no complaints. The meals are fabulous. It's kind of expensive. I'm barely able to afford it anymore. They have a small refrigerator and a microwave. They have some large refrigerators, and you can request to see what they have left over. Some people leave their stuff here; they just store it, and somebody may request it, and then they'll have it. Three meals and snacks are included. They give you a daily agenda of activities. They have Oktoberfest. They're going to the Houston Museum of Natural Science tomorrow, so they have activities. The staff is very attentive and very kind. They're excellent. However, I'm not too pleased with the management. The building is very clean. They have scheduled days for housekeeping and scheduled days for your laundry. They pick it up and bring it back folded, and they put it away for you. About the value for money, it depends on the level they're coming in. If they're coming in on one, two, or three levels, the pricing is very good. However, if you're going from four to five, it gets very expensive. They have a walking area right close to the big park. They're pet-friendly, too."

"My mom is currently at Optimum Personal Care. The staff is excellent. They seem to be more motivated and more personally interested in the residents than the other places we'd been to. The staff is just superb. The rooms are quite nice. They're all semi-private. The place is always immaculately clean. They have fewer amenities and much smaller public areas, but they have a higher staff-to-resident ratio. However, the food is very bland. Mom complains about it but there's plenty of it. My mom is bed and wheelchair bound and she requires a two-person lift. The place is broken into pods where they have a common area and a dining room that is divided amongst 14 people. The large public area is lined with recliners. They have a common work table there and the times I visited they had some artsy crafty things. That's really the activity that they do. Most of the people that are there just sit and snooze in the recliner. Nevertheless, every time I have been there the staff members have been attentive. When Mother needs to be changed I push her pendant, and there's somebody there within 20 seconds. They are very helpful, very friendly, very responsive, very caring, and very affectionate toward the residents. The value is very good. My mom is paying somewhat less where she is in now than the previous place where she was getting less care. Now, she doesn't have a nice big room by herself, so there's that, but it is actually a good value."

"My husband and I are very pleased with our apartment. We were able to make it suit us and our needs. We appreciate the helpful, friendly staff, Debbie, Suzanne, Anne, Shonta, Riska, Grace, and Natalie among others. We've made some new friends and joined several activities like Dime Bingo, Gardening Club and Drama Club. We have found the community responsive to suggestions for improvements and new ideas. I would recommend Clayton Oaks Living to my friends and family."

"We visited the assisted living facility of The Reserve at Pasadena. They're a very clean facility. The decorations that they have, as far as the whole building itself, look like a hotel instead of a nursing home. The rooms were very nice. The nurses were nice, and the people seemed happy. They were all sitting in the kitchen eating, and it was very nice. I like that my father would have a private room for himself there with his own shower, and he can control his air conditioning, because he gets cold and then he gets hot. I really like the whole place in general. They have a hands-on baking class where they can all purchase a plate and cook whatever they want. They have bingo nights, movie nights, and all kinds of activities. The person who gave the tour was very nice and respectful. She asked me if there was anything that I wanted to ask about, and she answered every question. She was very nice to the people who were there, and they all seemed to know her. There were hugs, and it's like they're one big family. They were in the process of eating lunch, and she said we were welcome to sit there and eat if we wanted to. She said they have a chef who works there, and he prepares gourmet meals for them. He used to work for a hotel, and they hired him there. He's been cooking for them for 20 years."
