You have the independent living and you can go into assisted or memory care. The grounds are beautiful and the food tables are nice and like in a cruise ship. The rooms were clean and spacious and the ones I saw have their own back porch which was nice. My friend there runs a beauty salon. You can get massages and your nails cut. That would be the place I would want to live. "

"I visited The Village at The Woodlands Waterway. I didn't see the employees, but I talked to the sales manager and the director of the assisted living. They were very informative and well-educated. The rooms were very luxurious and very well made. I had lunch there, and food was very nice. They had all sorts of recreations and computer rooms. They also had a swimming pool. "

"The Landing at Augusta Woods Senior Living was a brand-new place. We just felt that it wasn't established. They were still adding things and just opening up, so they weren't complete on that, but it was a very nice facility. We're looking for a more established place. We toured the independent living. The dining facility, recreation area, and theater room were very nice. They had a snack area where you could get snacks and things. The rooms themselves were very nice. The staff was good. They were new, but they did answer all questions that we had."

"I visited The Pines at Oakhurst's memory care. It's a converted home, and there's nothing wrong with the conversion, from what I've seen. They typically do a good job when they do conversions like this. They widened the doorways to increase access to bathroom facilities. They made the bedrooms safe too. Most of them had single beds in them so that it was safe for a person to get in and out. The staff were very friendly and very open to any question. I'd say they did a good job. The place was all clean, too. We walked in the kitchen and you can practically eat off the floor."

"Avanti at Augusta Pines was a beautiful facility. It was gorgeous. They have great amenities and lots of places for residents to gather. The rooms were beautiful and very functional. I never saw any residents outside of their rooms. I didn't see any residents participating in anything or sitting out in any of the little rooms or gathering spots. It wasn't mealtime, so nobody was eating in the dining room. I passed some rooms and saw residents inside."

"My mom has been lived here for several years. Although we haven’t been allowed in the facility for 10 months because of the virus it has been an excellent place for my mom. They go above and beyond on kindness and care of the residents. I have been very happy with the help they have given me in helping my mom. "

"I completed a tour of Valiente Senior Living and Memory Care. It's kind of all wrapped up in one big ball and an all-in-one place. It was very clean and there was no odor. The administrator is a very nice man and seems to be very into his job of making sure that the clients have exactly what they need. I was impressed by that but I don't think that we will end up there for two reasons. Number one, it's quite a bit farther away from our home than I thought it was going to be. It's a 40-minute drive and I can't do that every day of the week. Number two, while it was lovely and had everything that I love, it was quite expensive and beyond my budget. It seemed the staff was lovely and the administrator was super nice. They had their dog in there too and all the clients were in love with the dog. It was very nice but as I said, the distance and the cost were too much for me. I love the tour. I thought the tour was great and I think the place is great. It's really a nice setting, kind of rurally, with lots of trees and living spaces outside as well as inside. I was there for an hour and everybody was on their best behavior. I expect that if you're in there, you will enjoy it. All their clients were happy, clean, and well-fed. I think that the manager was great. I think he had great ideas, he is really determined to give his clients the very best, and he actually cares about these people. My parents have passed, but they were both in a nursing home, and I would have done anything to get them into Valiente Senior Living and Memory Care. It is much better and so much nicer. My parents' nursing home was horrifying so it was really nice to see that there actually could be a better situation than that. The big thing is that they also only have 16 beds so it's like a huge family but it's not 300 people so it's wonderful. I think that a small way to go is just the way to go. It really is more individualized care. You get to know your clients better than you would when there are 300 of them. The administrator told me that the people who were coming there actually stayed. Their family isn't like, "Oh my God, get him out of there". They appreciate it and enjoy it. They have a lot of involvement with the families too. They have many activities where they would have 70 or 80 people there. They get all the family members and have dinners and celebrations. I guess if they are willing to participate, they must love how their loved ones are doing. I didn't eat there but from what the administrator told me, the clients are getting healthy meals. He said they buy all their food at HEB so there's no frozen pizza, frozen burrito, or any crappy kind of fast food thrown at them. A cook was there cooking homemade, vegetable soup when I got there and it smelled really good so I think they're eating very well. The smell is also super important to me, and it smelled like my own house so it was great. It was a little scuffed up, but everybody's house had little spots on the wall too. The wear and tear is a real thing and they got a lot of people in that house but it was still nice. I would say it's certainly not this beautiful Homes and Gardens cover story but it was very nice."

"The New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care in Tomball was good. They were very kind and very nice, and there weren't any marketing issues. If anything happens and I wouldn't like the place where my husband is now, I would probably put him there. I liked the fact that it was small, and that the people who work there were extremely friendly to me and very accommodating. I just looked at a 1-bedroom. I wouldn't call it a studio but it's a one-bedroom and a bath and that's it. The room was adequate. They were having a Mardi Gras party during my visit. I liked the outdoor area very much. It was very nice and the patio was nice. The residents seemed to be having a good time with what they were doing. It was the memory care that I looked at during my visit. The people who worked there like the director, the activity director, and the people from the kitchen were extremely nice to me. I toured their memory care."
