I placed my mother at Strake Court. I like that, from the top administrator all the way down to the actual caregivers, know every patient and every quirk about the patient. Things that they can do, things they need help with, they do a real good job of that the whole time. They really care for the residents there. Second, I think they have a really good activities program for the older people, and they have something that I didn't notice at the other place. The activities lady has a service dog; she does tricks, but her big thing is that she just goes around, and everybody pets her and watches her do things. That would be my second: the way the activities are handled, and everybody's brought in. There's something for everybody every day, except for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. It needs a little bit of updating: shampoo the main carpet, that kind of thing. But I think it's just that time of year when they're starting to work on getting things done. I did share dinner with them all one night, because it's her first time there. I'm there a lot, and I see what they give them, and they're very, very nice meals. They do have the alternate list, where if you don't like X, you can go get Y. My mother does not like their toast. She talked to the head cook, and she said, "Do you like oatmeal?" My mom's like I love it. Now, instead of toast, she gets oatmeal. They'll even do little things like that. The rooms are kept really clean. They get housekeeping once a week, which comes in and cleans everything, washes the floor, and cleans the shower. The residents' rooms are always kept right off, and if there's a spill or something that the resident can't do, they can get help to do that. Everything is picked up, and it looks nice. They do a great job in the dining room. It's all in sunflowers and gold cloth napkins right now. It's really pretty. The rooms are clean, the dining room is immaculate, and the sitting room with the TV is nice. They always have drinks out that the residents can get, because they try to get them hydrated. They said that was what they found hardest with old people. They don't want to drink much, and that's where I'm at with my mom. I appreciate the ice water, and the coffee, and the stuff out for them to drink. There are always snacks out for them. Denise does a great job; she's remarkable. They have two dogs that will come. Kenny and Tucker. The residents love them, and their courtyard is really phenomenal. They have different raised planters, and the residents can plant whatever they want. One man has tomatoes, and another lady has flowers, and the activity lady helps keep them watered and stuff. Then there are turtles. They don't know where they came from, but there are 11 little turtles in the area. The residents will save lettuce from their sandwich and then feed them. There are bird feeders that they've put up all over. It's just really a nice place. Everybody always wants to go outside when it's not too hot. My mom loves it. The level of care can be quite a lot on top of the room fee. Basically, once in a while, my mom may need help because her pants get stuck in the back. But it's a point system. She was rehabbing a broken shoulder; she was at maximum with the bathroom, four or five points towards her care. She got it to the point where she didn't need any help. They had to watch to make sure she didn't fall. The points stayed up because it was based on the CNA's time. Whether she's helping or not, she's still spending the time. That's a little bit, but they do keep track of what is being done; they did lower her amount for the month based on her overall care because she's doing almost everything now. A big difference was if they went to the hospital; basically, if they came right back that day or the next day, they got to keep the room. But if they did, like my mom when she broke her shoulder, she was in the hospital for four or five days; at the other place we would have had to pick up her stuff, and she'd be done. But not at Strake Court; they kept her room, and they just dropped her level of care to none for those four or five days. I still had the rent on the apartment, but I didn't have to pay all of the health fees. To me, that's a big plus because she's moved in now with the bed and the little living room set up. I would not have been happy having to move all that. That's one nice thing: that's their home. It's just like if you're at home, you're not gonna lose your home because you went to the hospital for a few days.

Strake Court was wonderful. Madison, the one I saw, provided me with all kinds of information on what to expect. She said, "Even if you don't take us, if you need anything or want anything, I can give you information on what to do about things." She was very helpful. She phoned me one time and said, " I just want to let you know I'm still if you have any questions." The facility was great. Everything was clean and nice. All the waiting rooms and the dining rooms were really nice and well-decorated. All the staff were really good, too. They have a library and an activity area. They have activities planned for the people living there. They have a pretty courtyard. The rooms were nice, too.

We toured Strake Court and my mother liked it. It seemed like a good size. It's not too big, not too small and the people were very friendly. They showed us the dining room, the TV area, the activity room, the library, the computer area, what their laundry setup is like, the courtyard, and what a typical room would be like. It felt contemporary and clean.

My friend is on a waiting list at Strake Court. The facility seemed very clean. The people were very nice. The coffee was wonderful, and I don't even like coffee, but it was good there. Everybody was wonderful, even the people that live there. It looks like a community. They had plenty of activities. They just had a party the night before. They had a barbecue, and they even had beer there. They have a studio, which is more open concept. They have another one that has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. But we'll get the studio, and it's plenty big. It's got a big closet and plenty of room for your bed. You could take a recliner and a little table. The staff member was excellent and wonderful. She always smiles. The dining area looked really nice. They have a courtyard, and all the apartments are around the courtyard, so you can go out in the courtyard and smoke up there if you smoke. They have a little area for the smokers. And then, if you have a pet, it's fully fenced. They have a hairdresser who comes in once a week. They have their own mailboxes inside.

We've been very pleased with them because they provide the 2-person assist that my mom needs. It's an older facility. It has a courtyard in the middle, and it has studios and 1-bedroom apartments. I've been pleased with their staff, and my mom likes the food. She's been to a movie theater with them once, and she's been happy with their activities.

Kind and compassionate group. We are involved during Covid lock-downs. They always keep us informed. If we get a call from our relative inside. We call them to see what's happening and they go immediately to check. They have been very responsive and are doing a great job during Covid to keep things as normal as possible in difficult times.

Oh My! Both of our parents are there and we love this place! The staff are some of the most caring people I have ever met in my life. The nurses and staff treat our parents and the other residents if they were family, We were so thankful they had an opening for them.
