"My mom is at The Pines at Oakhurst. It's a small community and the staff is very caring. She'd fallen and broken her hip. And they've just gone above and beyond to make sure she has what she needs. She needs all the care right now. I have not tasted a meal there, but my mom seems to enjoy the food. The place outside, I think it's nice. It's been hot outside, so there's a nice backyard area to go out and look at birds with trees. We haven't had a chance to do that and it's really hot right now, so I'm looking forward to the fall and getting cooler and being able to do that. But the facility's nice and very well-kept."

"We looked at The Landing at Augusta Woods Senior Living. It had all of the characteristics of a really quality facility. It had wide, wide hallways. It had an excellent selection of rooms available. It had all the attributes of physical therapy rooms, game rooms, swimming pool, and dining room. I would rank it way up there as one of the best we've looked at. They have appliances in the room. The kitchen is a full kitchen and you can cook in there if you want. There's washers and dryers and so forth. The staff who took me around was very knowledgeable."

"My mom moved into Village Green Alzheimer's Care Home - Conroe. It's clean, small, and the staff there are very caring, open, and really good with the residents. They have an outdoor patio. The common area is open and bright. There were some other homes that I toured that were also clean, but they just seemed very dark and dingy to me. There were two homes that I toured that were just awful, smelly, and their furniture was all worn out and old. You could tell that they didn't have money to even replace some of their awful furniture, but Village Green is very clean, bright, and has a very bright outlook. It is just bright and cheerful. They have a beauty salon, and my mom already had her hair done; she loved it. They have a community dog that just lives in the facility. They allow pets, so there is another resident that has a dog. They only allow us to visit in the patient's room. My mom goes to a lot of activities that she has talked about."

"My mother is at The Wellington at Conroe. The staff is always so pleasant, kind and helpful. It's a clean place and the staff adores the residents there. I show up there almost every day and they're always nice to everybody. The food is awesome, although sometimes it looks like they're throwing something on the plate, but that didn't happen very much. If a client wants something different that day, then they'll make that. It seems like they can't keep a housekeeper, but the staff steps in and they do the work. I honestly think that they need more people. Every day, they have activities starting at 8:00 in the morning, like exercises. When I go up there, they're out playing games. They have the most awesome lady that does activities with their clients. They do bingo, dominoes, everything you can think of. They make crafts. They're good with my mother, and they change her."

"Woodhaven Village was gorgeous. Love it. However, they require the food plan, which means that we're looking more towards $4,000 a month. My mother weighs 100 pounds. She does not eat breakfast. Everything we looked at with the full meal plan was not anything we were even remotely interested in. Woodhaven is opening up a 55 plus, but they are requiring a one-year lease, and we would like something a little bit more flexible. The amenities are gorgeous, beautiful, and in a very well kept area."

"The people at Avanti at Augusta Pines were very nice. The lady who took us through the tour was fabulous. The rooms were small. Even the two-bedroom unit did not have a whole lot of closet space. My furniture wouldn't fit in there. The upkeep of the place was perfect. Someone had just moved out of the room the day before we toured, and they were getting ready to paint and replace the carpet. We walked through the dining area and lounge area where they have happy hour every day. The courtyards were very nice. It was very clean, and there was no smell."

"My parents were residents in Assisted Living facilities until dad passed away my mom needed Memory Care. Mother is 98 years old and has been at Lewis Park Estates for over seven years. I would never move her from this facility. The staff has been professional and most helpful in anyway necessary to make mother's stay a good one. Our family is always greeted warmly, and the administrative staff makes themselves available for any questions concerning mother that we might not be knowledgeable about ourselves."

"Avid Care Cottages is great and is a personal care home. The place is very nice and clean. The staff is great. My stepmother is bedbound so everything has to be done for her. Her room is small, but clean."

"We toured Strake Court and my mother liked it. It seemed like a good size. It's not too big, not too small and the people were very friendly. They showed us the dining room, the TV area, the activity room, the library, the computer area, what their laundry setup is like, the courtyard, and what a typical room would be like. It felt contemporary and clean."
