"We visited the assisted living facility of The Reserve at Pasadena. They're a very clean facility. The decorations that they have, as far as the whole building itself, look like a hotel instead of a nursing home. The rooms were very nice. The nurses were nice, and the people seemed happy. They were all sitting in the kitchen eating, and it was very nice. I like that my father would have a private room for himself there with his own shower, and he can control his air conditioning, because he gets cold and then he gets hot. I really like the whole place in general. They have a hands-on baking class where they can all purchase a plate and cook whatever they want. They have bingo nights, movie nights, and all kinds of activities. The person who gave the tour was very nice and respectful. She asked me if there was anything that I wanted to ask about, and she answered every question. She was very nice to the people who were there, and they all seemed to know her. There were hugs, and it's like they're one big family. They were in the process of eating lunch, and she said we were welcome to sit there and eat if we wanted to. She said they have a chef who works there, and he prepares gourmet meals for them. He used to work for a hotel, and they hired him there. He's been cooking for them for 20 years."

"I toured Autumn Springs Home Care Communities Galveston. I liked the way it was set up. They're under construction right now. So, there's nothing available. I liked the management there. The manager was very, very nice and informative. The place was nice. Everybody had their own individual room, unless you shared a room with one other person. But it wouldn't be a bunch of people together. They showed me around everything. I just happened to pop up in the area. I didn't have an appointment. I liked the way they were set up with their rooms and everything. They have a library and different activities during the day. Everything was clean."

"The Reserve at Pearland has an awesome nurse. The facility looked lovely. The people there were very friendly and welcoming. They have lots of things to do. It was a beautiful place, but their staff was what really stood out for me. They were so friendly. They've reached out to me and they've offered to do things. They were wonderful. Crystal was the name of the nurse and she was fabulous. Chloe was the one taking us around and she was really good, too. They've got good-sized rooms. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. Everybody was very nice. If they saw us, they introduced themselves, so I couldn't ask for better."

"Belmont Village was beautiful. I was very impressed, but it's too far away from home, so we would never consider it. On all points, it was exemplary. You could just put a check mark all the way across. It was a wonderful place, but I would never consider it. It's too far away. "

"The Village of Southampton was stunning. The views there are tremendous. You can see the whole city and can see downtown. The location is in the Rice Village at Rice University. There's a whole bunch of shops there. As long as we're able bodied, we can walk a mile or two. There's a lot of places that are within walking distance. That's the strong point of that one. The views are awesome. It's like 18 stories (or something like that), and all the apartments are just gorgeous. We've been there twice. They have exercise rooms, a swimming pool, and a lounge on the top floor. You could buy alcohol, snack foods, sandwiches, and stuff. The view is like drop dead gorgeous. There's an outside balcony that goes halfway around the building. It's stunning. The food was excellent. This is the best place in town."

"My sister stayed at La Vita Bella for nine days. I highly recommend them. It's listed as an assisted living, but it's more of a personal care home. Everyone there is very good to the residents. At that time, they had 14 rooms, and they were private rooms. They're very caring. They have activities for the residents if they want to do them. I was impressed with it. It's a house that they built on to, and it's owned by a nurse. It's beautifully decorated. Their staff is very attentive, very caring, and very personal. It's just a calm atmosphere."

"I toured Sodalis Texas City. It was great. The residents there mentioned that they had been there for a year due to changes in owners and leadership through management, and it was very good. The residents there told us right away that they were very comfortable and well-treated. The layout plan for the small apartments is laid out nicely. It is very well-kept, clean, and easy to maneuver, whether you're in a wheelchair or using a walker. They had a terrace, dining areas, and sitting areas. They offered various types of amenities and outings, which was very good. I liked that they had cameras everywhere."

"Orchard Park at Victory Lakes was very nice. The staff was very friendly. The facilities were clean and lovely. It's a beautiful place. They would be in my top three or four picks. What we loved about it was it was so close. The staff was also very nice and on the ball. We came early because we said we needed a different time than what we had scheduled, and they were very accommodating. They have a library and so many different activities available for the residents. It just looked like a very nice place. The layout of the room would have been perfect for my dad. We were going to look for an individual rather than a shared room at each of the places, and their room was very nice."

"My husband was in skilled nursing in The Crossings Retirement Community. I was not able to see him for about a month due to COVID. The rehabilitation staff has remained the same. It's the same people, but the turnover was shocking during the last stay, nearly no one is still there. They're using contract workers to fill in the gaps. I was a little disappointed in the rehab process system, which surprised me. The food was wonderful there. The people were certainly nice enough. It was clean, it had different halls for different levels of care. Their long-term care is twice the price of any other facility. When I asked them why, they said because they are the best facility in the area, which is probably true. They can charge it and people are willing to pay it. The facility is pretty, the rooms are huge. They have the opportunity for church services on Sunday. It's a Methodist facility. There's a lot of opportunity to work on puzzles, there's a common area where people can leave the room and come eat together. The interaction between patients was done either in the hall or in the common eating area. They had a trick-or-treat party where they lined people in wheelchairs up in the halls and children were allowed to trick or treat, and the residents were able to pass out candy. The residents and the kids had a blast."

"Brawner Sunset Haven is not brand new. They have been there for a long time, but it’s kept up and it was of decent shape. It was not bad. The rooms were average, not too small, but not specially spacious. "

"My husband is now at Seasons Personal Care Home. It's assisted care, but it is also memory care. It is small, personal, warm, and caring. The staff are dedicated and compassionate. I've tried their food and it's very good. Activities are good. They have exercise, coloring, gardening, and some spiritual activities. It has a courtyard. It's small and it doesn't have a lot of amenities, but it is loving and caring. It's an older facility and they're building a new one. They can improve by having more activities and larger facilities."
