The rooms are clean. Nurses were attentive and if anything was needed, they were there to help. Mom is 93 years young and she enjoyed her star there. She is even considering being there full time if needed.

My former mother-in-law and friend, Margaret has been at Cascades for years. She is now on hospice. The staff has always been helpful to me. The care I witnessed was good. Everyone there seems sincerely pleasant. I didn’t detect any stress among the staff or any of the other residents. I think the residents are well cared for. They have been very lenient with visitation during this difficult time for Margaret’s friends and family.

My mother was in the Rehab section and I stayed with her on a matress on the floor. In the room next to hers they admitted a woman with a toxic desease requiring that no one enter her room on the danger that they would be infected with whatever undisclosed infection that she had. They never informed my family of what her illness was. There were many empty rooms all down the corridor and they put her next to my mother's room. This is one of many, many violations of general infectious desease protections that I witnessed at Gulf Health Care Center. Beware!

My husband has been a resident of GHCC for 4 - 5 yrs. He has severe Multiple Sclerosis and is very disabled. There has been a lot of ups & downs and changes over the yrs. but have had to keep a close watch over his care. Over-all, this place provides adequate care, but falls short in the quality of CNA care. There is a high turnover of people in that area and many of them provide less than desirable care. There is a lack of "handwashing" amongst staff and a few CNA's seem to like to take a break in my husband's and room mates' room, while they are sleeping. They snack, read magazines and talk on their cellphone. I have hope for this place if the present Administrator stays for a.period of time
