"Covenant Village was very nice. We like everything about it. It was very neat, clean, pleasant, and very well-kept. They have a big park area where you can enjoy the outdoors in the summertime. The rooms were good. The people were very responsive. They gave us an opportunity to talk with some of the residents there. The tour guide knew the residents. She would say hello to them and then they would say a few words to us. That was a very nice part of the tour."

"My mother, who recently passed away,lived at Holland Homes for eight years. She could not have recieved better care at any price. The staff is very attentive and caring to the residents. All of her needs were always met there. Every time I visited the staff was very friendly and inviting. She was never treated bad. They treat their residents with care and compassion. Visiting is very flexible. The facility is very clean and well kept. Nurses and other staff keep family members updated about the resident. I would recommend this nursing home more than any other one in kentwood. There is a wide range of of activities for the clients to take part in and they are also able to leave the facility and go on walks or get time outside. I never had an issue arise from any of the staff members here. My mothers long time friend also stayed here and I often visited and she was well taken care of. "

"The staff's wonderful and the food's great at Spectrum, but my mom's still ambitious and would like more interactive activities. The only complaint she has is that she and the other residents only have a little something to do in the morning and then they sit in the rooms the rest of the day. The facility seems all nice, clean, and well-kept. "

"We toured Clark Retirement at Franklin. The facilities were very clean. The staff and all the residents were very welcoming. The item that I think hit home more than anything else was that it felt like any other apartment. This is a full apartment. This felt like a residence, like an apartment building, and like more so than any of the others, and that was a big thing. There's one lady that's been there 37 years, and we talked to her. We ran across maintenance people and all the others talked to them, and they were just very anxious to talk to us about the facility and their experiences there. It's got a bedroom and then a larger room, which has a living and full kitchen and bathroom and a walk-in closet. It has a full kitchen, it's not a kitchenette. It's a very nice dining room. You order off a menu just like you would in a restaurant. There's a meal allowance in the monthly fee for the facility."

"I was welcomed by the staff even though I had not called ahead to make an appointment. At first glance, it seemed very pleasant and one of the more "un-institutional" looking facilities I have visited. It was very relaxed. A group of younger people were talking with and playing monopoly with some of the senior residents. Some of the residents were just observing a bridge game, some were playing. All seemed to be having fun. Everyone apparently was able to come and go as they wished. The decor features nice bright cheerful colors and the common area was especially pleasant and welcoming. I really liked the staff. They were most eager to talk with me and answered all my questions completely and without even thinking about what they "should or should not" say...I have run into some facilities where this was a problem. The staff seemed very rehearsed at those places. The food looked and tasted wonderful. This facility has many more on-site amenities than I have seen in most, including a chapel. Many of the activities are scheduled, but many more seem to be just spontaneously undertaken by residents who decide they would like to do some crafts or listen to or play music. It's a really lovely atmosphere. When I began looking at facilities, I was convinced that I wanted my own apartment WITH a kitchen so I could do all my own cooking. Now I'm not so certain of that. Holland House is a definite possibility for me. "

"visited mother and father almost everyday, always clean. The workers are kind and treated people like they were their own family. I always had the peace of mind that my parents had the best of care. "

"Touring Holland Home Raybrook Campus was an enjoyable experience of seeing what was available. They presented different options in terms of living arrangements and different types of financial costs associated with that. The place was well done and well kept up and people were hospitable. Given that I taught at a college, this place was located very close to that college so that we could continue to enjoy the activities that are associated with the college. There were common areas. There's this swimming pool, a woodworking shop, an exercise place, and different restaurants."

"We toured St. Ann's Home for my aunt. They were very informed and very helpful to us. When we sat and spoke with them, they took their time to just walk us through an area we had a question about, which was nice. If we can't get into the other facility, we'll probably go here. I had a lot of questions, and there were some questions I hadn't even thought of, and she was very helpful to walk through those steps with me, encouraging me and giving me the information I didn't even know to ask, so I thought that was good. It was very clean. They were in the process of renovating a room, so we knew that it was kept up. They didn't leave things to get old, and everything seemed very convenient. Where you go from your room to eat or whatever wasn't that far away, which was nice."

"Overall the facility wasn't bad, of course nothing is like home but the care provided was good. My grand father could not go home so the care that was provided to him was very good. The staff worked hard to take care of him and provided the best possible care to him. They also worked very hard to physiclly rehabilte him. "

"They are doing pretty good at Spectrum Health Rehab & Nursing Center according to my friend. She is in a two-person room, so they are a little austere. They have bingo, and they also have arts and crafts. "

"I moved into the MediLodge of Grand Rapids. They do an excellent job. Their tenants are very good. The food is very good. The staff members are attentive. They go away and come back when I say they're supposed to. Everything is good. Everything is comfortable in the room. I like looking out the window, and there's a turkey outside. I don't know of anything negative that I've heard anywhere. They have bingo and some other things going on down there. All senior living facilities are a little expensive, but MediLodge of Grand Rapids is fairly good compared to some other ones. It is a little cheaper. I like the fact that it's in a setting where there's a lot of trees around, and wild animals, so it's kind of good."

"The Laurels of Hudsonville accommodated my mother's needs for a private room and a private bathroom. The staff was caring, well qualified, and responsive. When she had concerns or we had concerns, they listened to us. They were very good. "

"Porter Hills Village is in a very nice area. I like the location from where I'm living now. It looked very livable and very comfortable. The one thing I have against Porter Hills is I would like a two-bedroom and they do not have two-bedroom apartments, although I have seen some of their rooms, and that probably could work out. The staff was very friendly and I went to a craft workshop one day with them. I have been invited to activity-type things that I was not able to go to. They are keeping in touch with me."

"Friendly staff. Our biggest concern is that our father refuses to bathe and they don't force him to. Seems as though it would be a health issue to not have a clean body. They also don't seem to encourage him very much to participate in the planned activities. He is content to stay in his room and I think with a little encouragement he could be taken in his wheelchair to the activity room and might just enjoy some of the activities that are planned.We also have concerns with billing - several times we haven't received our bill in a timely manner. And our medicaid recertification was sent to Dad - and was just dropped back in the mail with please forward to us. Post Office returned to sender and therefore our paperwork was late getting back to the state. "
