"I wish I could go less than a star, although this home took good care of my mom while she was there, the employee's at the time were so thoughtful and caring. They came to my mom's funeral and visitation when she past. My mom had Alzheimer's, I look back and can see the progression of this heart-breaking illness. There is no words that can say how this illness effects the loved ones around the person. I love my mom very much, we were best friends. Then I became her caregiver "mom", that is what she called me. The poor rating I am giving this facility because those that cared for my mom are no longer there, well there are only two left, and I watched them walk on eggshells there. The way they treated my dad while he resided there is beyond words. They thought in their sick twisted heads (the staff) believed they were protecting my dad from me, they did not protect them I honestly believe they caused him so much stress that he had numerous strokes. Until he had a massive stroke that ended his life a week later. He was depressed, a man I watched take on the world, all he wanted was to beable to see me. I would not send my dog to this place. It started out loving and caring and turned into a money greedy facility that doesn't know the truth from a pile of crap. I love both my parents and am going to go through the rest of my life with one regret, that I let my dad stay in this place....... "

"My mom was in this facility during the covid pandemic as part of her rehab after time in the hospital. Mike Eby in social services provided exceptional, personable care and empathy for and towards mom. He was invaluable to me and my family when we could not be there in person. Mike provided guidance, updates and above and beyond assistance during a heartbreaking tragedy for mom. According to mom, the food here was delicious; and the care and rehab were successful! The rooms "smallish" but with good light. Mom met regularly with PT, OT and activities rep - all in her room because the facility followed strict COVID guidelines. We are VERY grateful to all who cared for and helped mom during this difficult time. "

"This nursing home is good, but could do better. A majority of the staff is polite, though some act careless (for example, walking past a resident that needed help). The general smell of the nursing home is not pleasant. The rooms for the residents, however, are quite nice. They have comfortable beds, bathrooms with all the necessary handicap accessories, and even a cable TV. Blind residents even get books on tape to listen to. The nursing home has a library in which many residents read often. So, all in all, this nursing home is pretty good. "

"Medilodge of Westwood is very kind and did a lot of work with my mom's PT and OT. They have worked with her even on the weekends for therapy. They were very kind when she would have a setback and get sent back to the hospital, they would take her back again. That happened three times. They have card games, art projects, hymns, and broadcasts. My mom thought the food was good, too. It's just not as updated and quite as clean as the other facility they have in another area."

"My dad stayed in The Springs at the Fountains for five days. I have mixed feelings about them. They care about him, but they don't seem to have a way to handle if he has an outburst. He tried to hit a staff member a couple of times, and their response to that was to automatically send him to ER. Then, the ER referred him to a geriatric psychiatric unit. That's where he is right now, so they can regulate his meds. I have no idea if they have normal protocol, if they're supposed to be equipped to handle patients that aren't perfectly behaved, or if this is exactly what they do. There were two patients to a room. It's not a very big place. They basically can maneuver it all in a wheelchair. They just go up and down the hallways. They're not really equipped to have someone sit with him. It was clean, and the people were nice enough and were very courteous when we were there. "

"My grandma is at MediLodge of Kalamazoo for rehab. There's not much to look at. It kind of looks like a normal facility, but the staff is really nice. They actually seemed like they care. I was never able to go in because of COVID, but we have visited her through the window. Her room looks like a hospital room, but it was clean. They have a common room where they can watch TV. They have arts and crafts too. The staff really don't interact with us when we go and visit her, but they email and call us if they need to. Whenever we want to know something, they're always available to talk to us. All nursing homes are way too expensive, but they are on the cheaper end."

"The facilities were clean, tidy and everything seemed to run in a very ordered and timely fashion. The nursing staff was vibrant and friendly and the activities department spent many hours keeping the residents entertained. The food was a little above average for such a facility, and there was a different variety each day, always with fresh fruit, salads and a choice of different sides. The setup was more of a hospital where around 120 patients lived, and often spent their remaining days there. Backgrounds and ages varied as a handful of sand, and some residents were only in the facility for short-term physical therapy (a department filled with positive, smiling and kind individuals). The building is divided into wings, often by age, illness or term of stay at the facility. Upstairs is where the general activity happens, people going in and out all day, deliveries, doctors, nurses, the kitchen and cafeteria. Downstairs houses residents who are losing or have lost much of their mental faculties, and are taken care of by a different set of staff members. "

"My mother-in-law has been at Bronson Commons for 4 years now. They have excellent and friendly staff, and they are very concerned about their residents. It seems like a very clean facility and we're always welcome as visitors. They have a beauty salon that she likes to go to and get her nails done. They play games, do puzzles, and do art activities. She goes outside a lot. They have yards that they can go to. They have a cafe where you can buy food and snacks if you're visiting a resident, and the food there is good."

"My father was at Medilodge of Holland, and it appeared clean. The only thing was that they were understaffed. There were times when I had to wait a long time for a nurse. They didn't seem to have any compassion. It was just a routine. They were quick to come in and out and spend much time with my father. The food was cold; I know he complained about that. They didn't wear name tags half the time, so you didn't know who you were talking to. I would not recommend Medilodge and I will not go back there."

"My mom is at Laurels of Galesburg. She is doing well. She is in memory care because she has dementia and they take good care of them. My mom's room is clean. They have a mat because she falls down a lot. The atmosphere is nice. In terms of activities, she does music and bingo. They have music a lot and they have people come in and sing and stuff like that. She enjoys their activities. The food looks and smells good, too. Overall, so far, Laurels of Galesburg is really nice. The staff members are really good. They keep my mom busy and occupied."

"Want to express our gratefulness to the Heritage nursing home. Both our mom and dad have been residents. Their heartfelt compassion and care for them has been outstanding. They truly care for these people with their whole heart. Dad just passed away and they were so comforting to the family, making sure we understood what was happening and offering help and hugs when needed. We cant say enough about the great care."

"I toured Douglas Cove Health and Rehabilitation. The only thing best about it is that it would have been closer to where I live. I was familiar with the place. It's been there a long time. So, it's old. They have made a few improvements, but it just didn't seem as friendly, and more like a nursing home than the other facility. The whole atmosphere is more gloomy. They weren't as up-to-date and cheery-looking. The person who gave the tour was very cordial. He was the assistant manager. I just get the feeling they were more short-staffed than the other facility."

"My mom is in HealthBridge Post-Acute Rehabilitation. We're having a really good experience. Obviously with COVID we can't go in the building or anything with her, so I couldn't give you a review on that. They're very accommodating about coming to the door and taking things back and forth to her. My mom is really happy, she is thrilled with her therapist, he has her up and walking, the use of her arm back, her speech is back, and this is on a three-week span since her stroke. So it's been a very good experience. We do a lot of stuff via phone conference calls with the staff. It came highly recommended from the hospital and the place she's moving into."
