"I'm a resident of StoryPoint Kalamazoo. I've been here seven years and they've changed management several times. Probably the best thing about the place here is our activities and activity director and the fitness activities and our fitness director. I've used all of them and I find it to be very helpful. They have almost anything you want all the time, so that you can't be bored. If you want to participate, there is something for you to do. I've used the fitness instructor several times to rehab and I've been very satisfied with that. We have an indoor garage below and it's handy, but it's quite messy now. The worst part probably is our food service. The food isn't always cooked the best. They overcook or they undercook, and we've had a lot of problems with the food. I know prices have gone up, and that probably is part of the problem. My apartment is fine. I have a bedroom with an extra room and it is very adequate. I have a housekeeper by the name of Alice that comes in every two weeks and she does a really good job. I'm very pleased with her. I know some other people aren't happy with other cleaners, but Alice is very good. She's very friendly, and she does an excellent job. Some of the staff are good and some aren't. They're remodeling the whole place."

"Wynwood of Portage was nice. It definitely was assisted living, not independent, so you don't have really an apartment; you just had more of an efficiency or a big room to yourself. One thing I liked about it was they had small dining rooms on each hall so you got to eat your meals with your neighbors, basically. It was nice, clean, and updated. Staffing seemed good, and they offered physical therapy. It was a little more hands-on, of course, than the independent living places. "

"We have a relative who has been at Storypoint, Oshtemo for more than a year. She lived in two other assisted living facilities before moving here and the difference in care here is so much better than she ever received at the other places. All of the staff participate in training and they are excellent. They constantly search for ways to improve and are always available to speak with family. They have more activities to engage residents, they also have outings for residents. Some of the other places said they had outings, but didn't follow thru. Our relative is much happier here and we know that she is absolutely safe."

"Its a great place from get go. They were able to fill all the paperwork for my mom and have taken care of her since last 3 years. The rooms are airy, well maintained and staff is very courteous and kind. Food is whole some and nutritious. It is a great place for my mom who has enjoyed staying there ever since. I can trust the staff to do the right things. My mom's safety has always been on top of their mind. Highly Recommended!!"

"I toured Blueberry Hill Assisted Living Lawton. I like that it was clean. The people were very friendly. The rooms were of a good size. They're not tiny, but they're not enormous either. All the meals are provided. The person during the tour was very informative, answered any questions that we had, and generally showed us around the facility. So she did a great job. The people stay in a room. They have activities that you can go on and they have meals that are prepared. The residents don't ever cook. They have three meals a day and a snack in the evening."

"We went to Maple Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care. The best thing was there was no smell, and it was very bright and cheery. They have a hair salon and activities seven days a week, so I was impressed. They also have a courtyard, which is very nice and very convenient. They also have places where you can get on a bus and go places together as an activity and stuff, which I was very impressed with."

"We are so thankful for TrueCare. They were the only assisted living place that financially met our needs. The rooms are cozy and the French toast is amazing. Plenty of things to do for residents and the tranquil outdoors makes it perfect for watching the birds. They have a beautiful park across the street to sit on a bench or go for a walk. Staff are easy to work with and do a great job taking care of the residents.. We love Calina, Iris, Paige, Judy and Nicol! They are committed to taking care of the residents and have become part of the family."

"We had a very nice tour. I liked the size of the rooms and that seemed to be really nice. The bathroom that goes with it is big enough that you can get a wheelchair in very easily, so that looks like it's a plus. I see that they have a salon to do the people's hair there, and that sounds kind of a plus for me too. I see that they've got a nice little spot in the backyard that's fenced in so that nothing can get in, and my mother won't end up wandering somewhere, and it seems to be very clean from what I've seen. The man that showed us through on tour was very helpful. I also talked to a lady to find out where we were supposed to meet and stuff, and she seemed like she was really nice, too. We didn't have a meal, but they told us that there are three meals scheduled each day, and they have a nutritionist for their whole great big corporation type thing, so they have very nutritious meals is what I understand. I like the fact that they had a TV room where the residents could gather together. There is also a sitting room up near the front. There is a piano up there, and they said sometimes people come in and play the piano for the residents so that they can be together. Or you could go back to your room and kind of have privacy if you wanted. Everything seemed to be very clean and nice, so I would say that they have a really good crew."

"My father-in-law is very happy with Bickford of Battle Creek. His sons go there and take him out on occasions. They did a veteran's thing recently and some of the family went. He said that the food is good and they feed him a lot. The place looks really elegant. It's always clean, nice, and the rooms are laid out well. The rooms have a little kitchenette and little bedroom areas as well. There are different kinds of rooms and the staff members are very pleasant. The residents go out to movies, they go to eat, and they play bingo and cards. They have several activities they can participate in if they choose to. It's expensive, but for what they offer, I think they have a good price compared to other places. This place is a good fit and I'm always impressed with everything when I go there. Some of the other places don't have as much to offer. I also like that the residents can lock their doors or their stuff, although the staff members can still go in. They seem to be full of people that you can associate with."

"I toured the assisted living facility of LakeHouse Three Rivers for my mother. I liked how it was nice and open with open rooms. A lot of places you go to have a lot of small rooms, but this was nice and open, so everyone can fit together. It was clean and well-kept. I liked how the nurses and the med passers interacted with the residents. From what I could tell, they were very nice and kind. I know they have housekeeping, meals, med-passing, and help with daily living like showering, getting dressed, and that kind of thing. There were two ladies there who ran the place, and they were constantly calling me and asking me questions about what they could do. They're generally concerned about what my mother likes or doesn't like, so I appreciated that. They were amazing and very accommodating to my schedule. They answered all my questions and concerns, and even gave me papers that went into detail about things we talked about. There was no guessing on my part; I knew exactly where they stood and everything, so that's nice. The facility was beautiful. It was like a family home, so it was very comfortable and very cozy with all the pillows on the couches. It also didn't smell like urine. A lot of places I went to smelled, but this one was clean, and that really makes a difference."

"The staff at NorthPointe Woods was wonderful. We met with two different people and they were very welcoming. They showed us the whole facility and their units were larger than any of the other facilities we toured. They also invited us to have dinner and we met several of the residents. They have a lot of green space. There's a gym, a game room, a post office, a health center, a salon, and all kinds of activities that you can sign up for to go out in the community. 20 dinners are included in the base rate. They have a cafe on site that's open from 9 until 3 so that you can go down and purchase food. Then they have a coffee and tea bar and hot chocolate and cappuccino that's open 24/7."

"My uncle is comfortable at Kelly's Hillside Manor. He likes the other people who live there. He likes the guy who owns the place who also takes him to all his doctors' appointments. My uncle shares a room with a fella and they get along really well. The owner's wife is from the Philippines and she does all the cooking, so she cooks Filipino food and my uncle really likes it. The owner takes them out for a pizza once every two weeks and asks them if they want to go to a movie and if they do, he takes them. Don, the owner, is a really great guy who cares a lot about the people. He always talks to them and listens to what they have to say."
