"We are current residents of StoryPoint Kalamazoo. The food, activities, and facility are very good. We have been very pleased ever since we moved in. It represents a great place to live out your senior life. My apartment is a little over 1700 square feet. We have all the space that we really need. It's like a three-bedroom. We have endless activities. We go on trips, and we go on lunch and supper outings. We have a music review tonight of the spring music activities. We bring in artists from the university. We had the Kalamazoo Orchestra. Right now, my wife is practicing handbells for a handbell concert that is being held next week. We have a full woodshop, a stained-glass studio, and pottery. They have transportation to all the different things. The grounds are being redone. Inside, the facilities are being repainted and has new carpeting in and new furniture. It's like brand new. The food is very good. One nice thing we have here that most communities don't have is underground parking. It's incredible."

"I have been to Brookdale Portage twice to look at the place and I'm actually going back there with my son. It was a very nice place. I liked that they had larger bedrooms. The facility looked lovely. It was very nice, clean, and very neat. The staff has been there for many years. I was able to talk to some of them, who have been there for 17 and 19 years, and that tells a lot. The food was delicious. The chef sat at the table with us, gave us a beautiful salad with vegetables and fruits, and everything was cut and displayed beautifully."

"It is new. It has nice wide halls and lots of light. It's just more open and it feels less institutional. I saw activities going on. I saw some singing going on and some cardio drumming at one point while I was there. It looks very clean."

"My husband will be moving to Blueberry Hill Assisted Living. We had a very nice tour of the place, and the staff was very nice and informative. They also have lots of things for the residents to get involved in. I don't think the assisted living room we saw was the largest, but there was nothing wrong with it. The upkeep of the place was very good, too. We went through the dining area, and it was very clean."

"The rooms are well organized and spacious. The cleaning staff is absolutely great! The chef and kitchen staff are fantastic! The activities are varied and frequent with lots of participants. Most of all, the care givers are super kind and loving to the residents. They are efficient and usually know the answer to any question I ask. The best thing is, if they don’t know they find out and get back to me."

"I had a good visit at Brookdale Battle Creek Assisted Living. I was prepared to take my mother there, but she ended up having to go to the hospital. They'll have to do another assessment of her to see if they can still cover her level of care and if it's a yes, then that's where she'll go. I liked the facility. Every person I talked to there was helpful and very engaged with all their residents. It's very nice. The facility is not too big. It's relatively small, but there's plenty of room for the number of people there. There was a music thing going on during my first visit there. When we were moving my mother's furniture in, it was a beautiful day. Rather than having the alarms go off constantly with their residents, they said, "Let's go outside", because they took the residents out into the garden so they weren't being disrupted by us coming in and out constantly. That was very thoughtful."

"It was very clean. A lot of people had their doors open, and everything was clean and smelled nicely. The people were incredibly nice. It was a quiet neighborhood. I liked the whole setup of it. They don't have a nursing home, but they will keep you until the end. The staff has been in constant contact with my relative and with me too. I liked it so well and it was convenient, so I didn't go any place else."

"The staff at NorthPointe Woods was wonderful. We met with two different people and they were very welcoming. They showed us the whole facility and their units were larger than any of the other facilities we toured. They also invited us to have dinner and we met several of the residents. They have a lot of green space. There's a gym, a game room, a post office, a health center, a salon, and all kinds of activities that you can sign up for to go out in the community. 20 dinners are included in the base rate. They have a cafe on site that's open from 9 until 3 so that you can go down and purchase food. Then they have a coffee and tea bar and hot chocolate and cappuccino that's open 24/7."
