"I have lived at Sentinel Pointe for more than four years. To me, having a caring staff is the most important benefit of living here. It's impossible to overstate the excellence of our staff. Their dedication to our welfare is commendable and to my knowledge, unmatched. They have done a fantastic job of maintaining all our services during this period of COVID restrictions, supply shortages and other difficulties. While the culture of caring is paramount, it's also nice that the building and grounds are very attractive and well-maintained. Our apartments are nicely appointed and comfortable. They are also working very hard to resolve difficulties with food services. I have every confidence, they will succeed in restoring the level of services that set Sentinel Pointe apart from other residences. "

"My mom is a resident of Rivertown Ridge, and what I like most is that the staff is excellent and the facility is clean. I liked their care program which is a specific memory care program. They have exercise, music, and arts and crafts. They have a walk-in tub, a chapel, and a specific garden area for memory care. I like that there are only 30 people in the memory care unit and there's a lot of individualized care. The food is nutritious and very well prepared. The meals that I have had there have been very good. It's a new facility and they have been open for 4 or 5 years, so it's bright and colorful. I am very satisfied with the care, the facility itself, and the care that my mom is receiving."

"American House Jenison was awesome. It was clean and open. You just felt free, and the lighting was good. The apartment was very nice. The person that did the tour was also nice and very well informed. The dining area was good. It was big. They also got a workout room and a theater."

"Byron Center Manor was good. The staff seemed very helpful and friendly. It was an older facility and that showed a little bit. I looked at the dining area, and it was very nice. Security was good. They had a list of activities that available, with something new every day. "

"My parents, who are in their 90s, have resided (with their dog) in an independent living apartment at Storypoint in Rockford for a year and a half. The services provided have met their every need, from maintenance to urgent health care. The entire facility is lovely, and I truly can’t say enough about how nice, caring, and capable the staff is. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, while the facility is, by State of Michigan mandate, closed to visitors, the management has made extra efforts to keep the residents safe, entertained and engaged. "

"We chose Legacies Village for my mother. I felt like she would be comfortable there, and the people seemed really nice. The staff was fine. They answered all the questions. We had one meal, and it was good, and they offered different options. The amenities were good, and the rooms were clean. The staff at all of the ones we visited were great. We just basically went with the size."

"American House Holland seems to be a nice area for respite care only for a week. It's clean, and I didn't smell anything when I walked there. It seems to be an organized place for seniors. It's very convenient and quiet. The staff who accommodated me was friendly and nice. The room she showed me was big enough for one person. It's clean and organized, but we have to bring our own stuff. They only provided a bed for my father. The common room is more where people can play some acuity games or whatever. It's not that big a place, but they have activities."

"Freedom Village although pricey was very top notch. First of all the safety of the residence with Fire Protection cannot be surpassed. The measure that the facility took with fire proof walls, sprinkler systems, and fire drills with the staff and residents was above expectations. Dining in this facility included food prepared by a 5 star culinary Chef, not a grill cook. There were several different dining rooms for various foods and atmosphere. Menu included high end foods like lobster and lamb, to fast food like tacos and burgers. All staff members including maintenance maintained a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. I was made to feel like part of the family there within the first several minutes of walking on the grounds. They even had a full scale fitness center, an olympic size swimming pool, and a movie theater. The activities department had something to do everyday from local shopping trips, local parades, bowling, birdwatching, and simple gardening. The nursing staff in complete control and very knowledgeable. When asked a question that they could not answer they immediately sought out someone who could answer your question. I did not notice one resident or family member that appeared to be unhappy or unsatisfied at Freedom Village Holland. "

"The staff is very nice and friendly. They are caring and very helpful people. The place is very clean, and before you occupy the room, they are freshly done. They do have activities like crafts, music, exercise, and outings. "

"We visited the Baldwin House Lloyd's Bayou. It was very clean. They were very professional. The biggest negative is, I think it's three or four stories tall and my father would not like that. The rooms were very clean. The lady was very good at showing us the place and different rooms, a game room, and the dining room and stuff like that. However, she never called us back to see how things were going. But she was very professional, very friendly, and knew a lot of the residents. It was very well maintained, and there was no odor."

"Clark Retirement was very nice. They had the best menu of the four places I visited. The dining area was very nice. The menu was the most varied of any of the places I went to. I would rate Clark Retirement a 5 because it had everything I wanted except their prices are higher. It had many good features and probably the best features and the meal plans of any place; however, they have a long waiting list for a one-bedroom with a separate bedroom from the living room. They did have studio apartments, but I didn't want one of those. It was the price and the waiting; otherwise, I would have picked this community. "

"My husband is at Porter Hills Village. I think it is very good, and the staff is very good and very caring. There is not a big turnover, which always tells me that it is a good thing. He is in a room with another person, it is not very big, but he is comfortable. He enjoys the meals. There's not much activity for him because he is not interested in movies or playing games. I would not say they have a lot of amenities, but they have a nice courtyard walking area. Everything is always very clean, there are no bad smells which you can find in senior communities. I never had any bad experience with the staff. They always keep me informed. Of course, it's been very hard not to be able to visit him for almost a year, but they have meetings every three months. I guess I'd really emphasize on their cleanliness. They take very good care of him. He never had any problems with bedsores or anything like that."
