"I have lived at Sentinel Pointe for more than four years. To me, having a caring staff is the most important benefit of living here. It's impossible to overstate the excellence of our staff. Their dedication to our welfare is commendable and to my knowledge, unmatched. They have done a fantastic job of maintaining all our services during this period of COVID restrictions, supply shortages and other difficulties. While the culture of caring is paramount, it's also nice that the building and grounds are very attractive and well-maintained. Our apartments are nicely appointed and comfortable. They are also working very hard to resolve difficulties with food services. I have every confidence, they will succeed in restoring the level of services that set Sentinel Pointe apart from other residences. "

"My mom is a resident of Rivertown Ridge, and what I like most is that the staff is excellent and the facility is clean. I liked their care program which is a specific memory care program. They have exercise, music, and arts and crafts. They have a walk-in tub, a chapel, and a specific garden area for memory care. I like that there are only 30 people in the memory care unit and there's a lot of individualized care. The food is nutritious and very well prepared. The meals that I have had there have been very good. It's a new facility and they have been open for 4 or 5 years, so it's bright and colorful. I am very satisfied with the care, the facility itself, and the care that my mom is receiving."

"American House Jenison was awesome. It was clean and open. You just felt free, and the lighting was good. The apartment was very nice. The person that did the tour was also nice and very well informed. The dining area was good. It was big. They also got a workout room and a theater."

"Byron Center Manor was good. The staff seemed very helpful and friendly. It was an older facility and that showed a little bit. I looked at the dining area, and it was very nice. Security was good. They had a list of activities that available, with something new every day. "

"The staff here treats our mom with respect and love. If we have any questions or concerns, they are always willing to help us out or work with our requests. We have treated the staff as our extended family and it shows in the care they have given our mom. They are always working on different ways to engage the residents and are working extra hard during these Covid times. We appreciate everything they have done and the extra miles they go. Prior to Covid they would have entertainment that would come in for concerts and music is the best therapy! They also love the visits from the therapy dogs. "

"We had a good visit at American House Holland. The ladies were very nice. I appreciated that they got right down to it and didn’t waste my time or their time too much. I got a great tour, my questions were answered, and they sent me home with some good paperwork, too. They also introduced me to a person who lived there; it was very nice chatting with her. They had a couple of different kinds of rooms in the assisted living, including a studio with a bedroom, living room, and a little kitchenette. For the independent living, it was a separate bedroom, a nice kitchen, L-shaped kitchen, living room, a walk-up patio, closet, and a nice bathroom. In the independent-living, there weren't any showers, so they had to go someplace else to shower. "

"Clark Retirement was very nice. They had the best menu of the four places I visited. The dining area was very nice. The menu was the most varied of any of the places I went to. I would rate Clark Retirement a 5 because it had everything I wanted except their prices are higher. It had many good features and probably the best features and the meal plans of any place; however, they have a long waiting list for a one-bedroom with a separate bedroom from the living room. They did have studio apartments, but I didn't want one of those. It was the price and the waiting; otherwise, I would have picked this community. "

"My husband is at Porter Hills Village. I think it is very good, and the staff is very good and very caring. There is not a big turnover, which always tells me that it is a good thing. He is in a room with another person, it is not very big, but he is comfortable. He enjoys the meals. There's not much activity for him because he is not interested in movies or playing games. I would not say they have a lot of amenities, but they have a nice courtyard walking area. Everything is always very clean, there are no bad smells which you can find in senior communities. I never had any bad experience with the staff. They always keep me informed. Of course, it's been very hard not to be able to visit him for almost a year, but they have meetings every three months. I guess I'd really emphasize on their cleanliness. They take very good care of him. He never had any problems with bedsores or anything like that."

"I liked Heron Woods very much. Everything looked good. I was told that they're going to be in some sort of transition. I liked the location and it's in a very nice area. The people I talked to and saw seemed very friendly. Everything looked clean and very livable. The staff was very helpful. It's kind of a newer building."

They had a lot of activities and a lot of talented and artistic people in the community itself sharing their talents, from art to quilting to crocheting to knitting. The apartments were a nice size. Everybody was very happy. The staff was wonderful. The attention that they gave to the residents stood out to me. "
