My mother has moved into Brookdale Portage. They're very friendly, and it's clean. They have neighborhoods where small groups of people go and eat together in a smaller setting and I like that. Her room is pleasant. When she moved in, there's new carpeting, and everything was new. She has a nice clean room. They'll take care of all of her needs supposedly. It's one fee, so it does not increase as they do more things for her. I know they had singing because of the holidays and she enjoyed that and she went down to do that. They do games and different things like that. It's a nice location. It's kind of in the middle of a neighborhood almost. It's not far from the highway. It's clean and it's attractive from the outside and inside.

I have been to Brookdale Portage twice to look at the place and I'm actually going back there with my son. It was a very nice place. I liked that they had larger bedrooms. The facility looked lovely. It was very nice, clean, and very neat. The staff has been there for many years. I was able to talk to some of them, who have been there for 17 and 19 years, and that tells a lot. The food was delicious. The chef sat at the table with us, gave us a beautiful salad with vegetables and fruits, and everything was cut and displayed beautifully.

Tammy was the woman that met with us and gave us a tour at Brookdale Portage. She was really informative and very warm. I really liked her. I enjoyed the place. It had a nice room with a nice window for my brother to have. It had a little kitchenette so he could make his own food, and a space where could make coffee. It had a nice area for him to move around. It's almost like a teeny little apartment. The price was all inclusive. So, there were not a lot of add-ons. It was more affordable.

What I liked about Brookdale Portage Michigan was they're divided up. They have multiple little dining rooms, so no one has to walk an extreme amount of space and you're going to know your few neighbors, which I thought was good. Everybody has a private room and their pricing was exceptional because it's a one and all thing, whereas in other places, you have to pay one price and everything just keeps going up. The number one thing about that place was that 100 percent of their employees are vaccinated. The staff was also very good because I was able to see them interacting with the residents. The place was very clean and very inviting. They had dining areas and things like that where you could sit down and meet, they had coffee available for their residents, in which I was able to grab a cup of coffee myself, and all the rooms had nice views from the windows. You'll always either look at the courtyards or some kind of greenery, not a parking lot or something like that. They had a lot of different activities available for the different residents there, like they do some kind of chair exercises, other activities where there is an elevator to go upstairs, and they had a piano, too.

I liked Brookdale Portage. It was in the top three of all the places I saw. My grandmother was in there ten years ago and they were very good. It was a very posh place and it seemed very upscale. The rooms were gigantic. The staff member was very good during the visit.

My mother was at Brookdale Portage. The quality of care went down. The place was rundown physically and was in need of a makeover. They have some activities, but they're limited because they're short staffed. The food was OK, but nothing special. Some of the staff members were very kind, but there just wasn't enough of them. She's in memory care. I was paying a lot more money and getting less in this place than where she is now.

The prices continually rose and the help they claimed they were giving was not given or even needed. Sometimes the meds were late or mixed up. Complaints of residents were dismissed. One woman who complained of stomach pain died of related causes. I would not recommend this facility. D

My mom is living at Brookdale Portage. I wouldn't say they're the best, but they are OK for what I pay for. They keep my mom busy. It is much better than her being by herself and living home by herself. She has her meals with other people and she is meeting other people. They have exercise classes, Bingo, movie nights, and they take the residents out for lunch and to different stores every so often. She seems to like that. The staff members are very nice. They take care of her very well. She loves the food, too. However, we had an issue with the electricity going off in my mother's bathroom and it took them too long (until the next day) to get it fixed. Due to this, I thought their facility was unsatisfactory altogether. Plus, the cost is expensive because they charge you for every little thing.

Brookdale Portage is a beautiful place but my dad really needs more than assisted living but that’s not their fault. We are trying to get him in to another location. The food is average. They also seemed a little short staffed.

Our visit with Brookdale Portage was okay. The staff was very nice. It was just not what we were looking for. It was much smaller. The rooms were not as spacious. They were smaller.

Brookdale Portage had their bedroom and living room all together, and I don’t care for that situation. The food was good. It was like one apartment, and there were about five or six or seven units there, and they went to the dining room all by themselves. The particular ones I saw, and that wouldn’t be a lot of interaction.

Everything was very nice at Brookdale, and the staff was great. The gal that helped us was very professional and seemed to know a lot about dementia and memory care.

Brrookdale Portage (memory care) is where my loved one resides as she has Alzheimer's. It's a beautiful place and the staff are outstanding! There is someone always available to listen if you have a concern especially the health and wellness director. I would recommend Brookdale to anyone who is in need of memory care.

At the other place, they were willing to work with you whether you had VA or a Medicaid waiver. Wynwood was not willing to work with you like that; it was self pay. The rooms were OK. They have a little golf course inside, a botanical garden, and a courtyard. It was a beautiful place.

Wynwood of Portage was nice. It definitely was assisted living, not independent, so you don't have really an apartment; you just had more of an efficiency or a big room to yourself. One thing I liked about it was they had small dining rooms on each hall so you got to eat your meals with your neighbors, basically. It was nice, clean, and updated. Staffing seemed good, and they offered physical therapy. It was a little more hands-on, of course, than the independent living places.

Our visit at Wynwood of Portage was a good experience, but they offer more care than what was necessary for our condition. I like that it's homey and comfortable, but it’s located in an area that we didn’t want to live in.

Wynwood of Portage is very expensive, but everything is deluxe. The rooms are very nice. If I had the money, this facility would be my choice.

Wynwood of Portage was nice and well kept. The staff was very nice. They were very pleasant also. However, it was not a good value compared to the other facility. Nevertheless, the grounds were very well kept. It was in a pleasant neighborhood. It was in a good location. A very expensive neighborhood surrounds it.

I went and visitied Wynwood of Portage. My mom was not ready to move in just yet, but that's where she would want to go because she knew people who have gone there and love it. It had appropriate décor. It seemed a little old fashioned to me, but I think that's probably for the target audience for care. It was perfectly modern, but the décor seemed appropriate for the age group served. I met with the person who handled all the placements, and she was exceptionally helpful. The other people I had interacted with were all very friendly and positive. The rooms were large enough for a nice sized bed, a pretty good sized sitting area, and a nice walk-in bathroom space. It was pretty big, so you could have privacy when you wanted it. They seemed laid out to be safe. They served me lunch, and it was a 3 on a scale of 1 to 5, but I had a feeling that the food was probably appropriate for the audience because it was not heavily seasoned. The dining room was very nice and welcoming. She told me of the things that they do, and they do quite a lot, but I don't remember them specifically. I liked the helpfulness of the staff, and I would recommend them to others.

Mom has been in Wynwood assisted living since March. It was very helpful. The staff was good, but I have found out since that they weren’t completely upfront with me about things. They told me that they would bill personal care services in April to May. That’s not at all how it goes. They bill in advance. Some of the food is really good, and other times, she doesn’t care for it at all. They have a good selection of activities. They have frequent ice cream socials. Once a month, you can go to the grocery store. They have arts and crafts, which she doesn’t generally go to. There were a lot of things offered that my mom doesn’t participate in or hasn’t yet. In my mother’s room, one room was a bathroom that has a shower, and the shower has a bench. In that room is a twin bed, a night stand, and chest of drawers. It has a good-sized closet, and we were able to put in a refrigerator, a microwave, a small entertainment center, and her recliner. I like the location and I like that she can have her cat with her. She would still much rather be at home, but that just can’t happen, so she’s learning to adapt.

Very professional and nice staff. Facility is beautiful and has a unique arrangement built around six community centers each having a very nice, quaint dining room. Great support system with nurses and have doctors on call. Rooms for meeting and social activities; a hair salon and physical therapy room. Wynn Wood does not have a Community charge like other facilities (which range from $3,000 to $10,000) but does suggest an advance payment of $3,000 to hold your reservation to move in when ready which is applied to your first month's rent. Provides basic furniture and room for your own. Located in a beautiful and safe neighborhood.

My mom is at Wynwood. We chose it because it is close to our house. I like that is it clean, up to date, and friendly. There is plenty of room for what she needs. The dining area is up to date and friendly too.

Wynwood of Portage was nice. They have an intimate type of setting. At other facility I visited, they have a big community, whereas with this one, they have sort of like little neighborhoods within the building. The facility was nice and clean. It did have nice décor and everything; however, the hallways were sort of dead-end hallways. They don't have a particular floorplan where you could go for a walk around the facility. At that place, you just walk in a hallway that turned around and then walk down another hallway that turned around and that kind of thing. They did have nice rooms and smaller dining rooms. I would recommend this place; however, it just ended not being a right place for us.

My husband and I visited Wynwood and we did not like the place. I did not like the location and the whole set-up. But the staff was very kind, nice and wonderful. The price was also not that bad. It was just not what we were looking for.

My Father in Law is staying at WynWood of Portage. My husbands family was not sure of where to send my father for the care and attention he needed, but now we are all very happy that they chose WynWood of Portage. The first time I drove my kids up to the home he is staying it it was simply as if we were visiting Grandpa in his own apartment building. Very beautifully landscaped yards, and nice looking building fronts. Never would you know it was a nursing home facility by the outer appearance. In fact my youngest daughter even asked me, are you sure we are at the right place mom, this doesnt look like a sick place to me! The innocence of kids! The staff here is oh so caring! My father in law has admitted to loving it here. He even has a crush on a few of his nurses I think! Such caring and sweet people to not other my father in law but to our entire family. The staff here really goes out of its way to make sure everyone is comfortable and taken care of at all time. They have a great way with working with my father in law and he always has a new story to tell my husband or I when we visit or phone him about a friend he has or a staff member who has gone that extra mile for him to make him feel that much more special and loved. He truly loves it here and I am soo happy for that! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for that great care for a loved one or friend of their own!
