"I cannot tell you how happy I am with in-home companions. I have had many experiences with different agencies, but this one has blown me away. The caregivers are never late, I have never had Her not show us up, cancel on me last minute, etc. They are really willing and able to do whatever it is that they can to help you. I never hear things like, the agency really doesn't allow us to do that, when it comes to things like cutting toenails, shaving legs or armpits, help me with my medication, etc. I use a Hoyer lift to transfer from my bed to my power chair, and doing with only one person can really be challenging but it hasn't been a problem. I made my initial inquiry online and the owner himself called me right away which blew me away. He made arrangements to come out to talk with my parents and I shortly after that. Now normally we would interview more than one agency before making a decision, but this just felt so right and so perfect. Another thing to point out, the owner knows the caregivers. So you don't have to worry about being sent out just some stranger off the street. At that first meeting, We stressed the importance of companionship, that while we needed someone to help with the caregiving, it was also important that we would get someone who would send time with me. I couldn't be happier with my Care Giver, we have become friends outside of ” work”"

"I am very sad to leave this review because most of the caregivers our family had during our tenure with VA were excellent, loving and kind. But I have come to the conclusion there is a serious problem with the ownership/management of this particular VA franchise. In the beginning, things worked as expected with normal fits and starts that are typical with home care. We developed great relationships with several of our Angels- but many of them suddenly left. It became really difficult to get in to a routine. This is especially important with dementia care. As people quit, others would come with very little training- they explained they’ve received only video training and nothing in the field. They didn’t receive any dementia training, which is not good, because every aspect of a dementia patients physical care is impacted by the mental impairment. Building trust is a vital aspect of home care- but everything the owners did undermined our trust and confidence in them. After a misunderstanding we thought had been resolved, it seemed they were looking for a reason to terminate our contract, which in the end, they did. It’s very sad and shows how little they actually care for their clients, the actual patients, because they are the ones who suffer. Our Mom loved her caregivers, and was used to them, but because of a minor issue which the owners were unwilling to work with us on or show any compassion or understanding, they abruptly terminated care. If you are looking for care for your loved one, I would think long and hard before contracting with VA of SW MI. If you are a current client, be very careful to follow the contract precisely, and don’t get on their “bad side.” You might find yourself without help!"

He is extremely knowledgeable regarding the PT and the medications I take. He is also very knowledgeable regarding the low pressure issues I am having. I feel like he is as determined as I am to get me back on my feet again. He is smart, compasionate, gentle and pretty funny at times! Laughter is needed at a time like this!
