"We toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Grand Rapids. We didn't have an appointment. We just walked in and asked if we could visit the facility. The sales representative wasn't there, but one of the directors was, and she was happy to answer our questions, and she took us on a tour. She was very nice and very helpful, and we liked the facility. The only thing was, it was a little closer. That was the only thing that we were debating about. We like that it sits back off the road, so it was more wooded. It was where the metro was more urban, and so we liked the more country feel. It wasn't as opulent as the other facility, but it was very nice. They have a little courtyard that looked out over a pond, a nice little place where the residents could walk and sit outside and enjoy the weather."

"My husband was here. He enjoyed the food, he told me many times, and the staff treated him very well. He knew all of them and talked with them. His room was a nice size, had plenty of light, had its own bathroom, and was nice. He was in the memory unit and they had all kinds of games for the residents to play, and they brought in musical performances for them. He's legally blind so it was very hard for him to participate in a lot of the stuff that he couldn't see but they did try to think of whatever they could for him to do."

"The rooms are airy, spacious, and well-maintained. The dining room food is very good with a varietal menu for the residents."

"Rivertown Ridge is a really nice place. They have their own laundry in every room, and they do housekeeping and linens biweekly. They have activities in different parts of the facility. The staff was awesome and did a really thorough job. The rooms are beautiful. Even the assisted living is really awesome. It's open and you have a view in the back or you can have a traffic view in the front. We really liked it. The apartments for independent and the assisted living are mixed together, and the memory care is on the second floor, but it's all in one building. They have a pub where you could get your breakfast or your lunch and a fine dining room for meals at night. Meals are included in the rent."

"My dad has resided at Boulder Creek for almost five years. He initially moved there with my mom, but she passed away a year after they moved there. Since my mom passed away Boulder Creek's staff and residents have become very important to my dad, and he has immersed himself in all the activities and programs they offer on a daily basis. These activities mean so much to him that l literally have to plan my visits around them! He has befriended many of the staff and residents, and sees to it that his fellow residents attend the activities too. He really enjoys the singing entertainment that comes regularly, and loves the group volleyball games and movie nights too. Boulder Creek offers all kinds of crafting events, games, monthly birthday celebrations with cake and ice cream...just to name a few. Be sure to check out their monthly activities calendar, as it has something for everyone! My dad goes through the calendar and highlights every activity he was to attend. Group exercise is a don't miss for any reason, and meals are for socializing as well. I'm really glad that my dad is part of the Boulder Creek family, and he is too! His room is perfectly sized for him with a well thought out floor plan, and his bathroom is handicap accessible, with all of the necessary amenities. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff and how helpful they always are..to both my dad and me. In conclusion, Boulder Creek has been an extremely positive influence in my dad's daily life, and l'm grateful that he resides there. "

"My wife moved into Grand Brook Memory Care of Grand Rapids. My overall experience has been very good. I can't get in there now but her room was nice; I saw it when she moved in. Excellent place, nice high ceilings, and very nice accommodations. It's a good location, it's right by Wyoming, so it's only a mile from the mall. Pretty much everything is included, they do the laundry and the cleaning. They got an enclosed courtyard which is very, very nice so they can go outside and they can't get away because the building is completely surrounded; very secure. They got everything there. The day I brought my wife there I was able to get in the room and the chef brought us a couple plates of food and it was very good. Because of COVID I was not able to go out in the other part of the facility, but since we were the only ones in her part they brought us some food right down. Everything was fresh, no frozen, everything is made from scratch. It was excellent. They keep the residents busy, but she can't really tell me what they do there so I can't really tell what activities they have."

"I toured American House Jenison. From the time that I met Natalie she was very cordial, very polite, big smiles, and we had a good time. We had a good conversation. She was pretty thorough in presenting American House, which was nice. The place speaks for itself. It's very well-kept. The grounds and the apartments are nice. When we went into the open one, my sister was thinking about the living room area. When you walk in it is quite generous as far as space, then the bedroom. It was nice, had a very big closet, and a nice size bathroom. They do supply two meals a day if you want them, so that's included in the price along with all the utilities. Internet is also included in the price itself. There's this big bay window in the back that has a nice and beautiful view. There's a creek and a huge piece of land behind it. It's very calm. It's very serene. There's a beautiful golf course right across the street and there's a bike path out by the road that goes for miles. There's shopping, coffee, businesses, auto repair, and there's all kinds of stuff just blocks away."

"I went to Byron Center Manor. It was very clean and neat, and very comfortable looking. The patrons seemed to be very friendly. I saw a one-bedroom, studio type thing. The staff was very nice. I just went in, viewed the kitchen area, I didn't get a chance to get friendly with anybody, I just went through the hall, down to the bedroom, and back out. It was all they would allow. There wasn't much of a yard. The apartment had a sink and microwave, and could fit a full-size bed, couch, chair, and a small table."

"This is an excellent facility with friendly staff and engaging activities for the residents. I wouldn’t think twice about sending my loved one here. "

"I am very happy with them. My dad has only been there four or five days, but the place is as clean as can be, and the people are friendly. They have their own chef, and the food is fabulous. It’s not cafeteria-style food; it’s very well prepared. I like the way the staff takes care of him and the layout of the building. It’s secured but open. They make it feel like home for every resident."

"We toured American House Holland. It was a small community. The dining area was close to the rooms, and the rooms were very nice. When we were looking at independent living, they had two rooms together, a private bedroom which we thought was pretty good. The facility was not quite bright. It was a little darker. The staff was very articulate, friendly, knowledgeable, and very committed."

"Clark Retirement was very nice. They had the best menu of the four places I visited. The dining area was very nice. The menu was the most varied of any of the places I went to. I would rate Clark Retirement a 5 because it had everything I wanted except their prices are higher. It had many good features and probably the best features and the meal plans of any place; however, they have a long waiting list for a one-bedroom with a separate bedroom from the living room. They did have studio apartments, but I didn't want one of those. It was the price and the waiting; otherwise, I would have picked this community. "
