Commonwealth Senior Living at Grand Rapids

We toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Grand Rapids. We didn't have an appointment. We just walked in and asked if we could visit the facility. The sales representative wasn't there, but one of the directors was, and she was happy to answer our questions, and she took us on a tour. She was very nice and very helpful, and we liked the facility. The only thing was, it was a little closer. That was the only thing that we were debating about. We like that it sits back off the road, so it was more wooded. It was where the metro was more urban, and so we liked the more country feel. It wasn't as opulent as the other facility, but it was very nice. They have a little courtyard that looked out over a pond, a nice little place where the residents could walk and sit outside and enjoy the weather.

Everything at Commonwealth Senior Living at Grand Rapids was brand new when I walked in. Everything was redecorated and modern. Everybody was right there to help me. As I toured the place, the residents that I did see were involved in an activity in a group room. You could see what the activities were, what they were going to do next, and what they were having for dinner. They had a juice bar that the residents could go to at any time and get juice, water, or whatever they wanted to drink. The guy who sat down with me to talk about the finances, was very much like he wanted to see bank statements and he wanted to see how much money was in the bank. It was more than just knowing that you could afford it. I felt like they wanted to see what was there to figure out how much of that they could get. It kind of made me distrust them a little bit.

Everything about Commonwealth Senior Living at Grand Rapids was nice. I spoke to one of the residents and she couldn't say enough about how nice the place was, how excellent the food was, and everything. Everyone on the staff was nice. They showed me around and I couldn't ask for anymore. It's a brand new facility so it's nice and the rooms were brand new and they're building more. They do field trips there. It was a nice place and that's the top one we're considering. Plus the price was more in line with what we were considering.

Kevin is very informative and the staff was very friendly and caring. We also appreciated the hospice staff they worked with.

We had gotten my father in, but he passed away. They were really good, they did a really nice job, and the last month he was there we had hospice, so they were keeping my mom informed of how he was doing the whole time. It was a good experience.
