"It would probably work better for me. It's close to where my daughter lives. It's a good-sized campus and it covers pretty much whatever your needs might be. It is a clean facility. Everybody appeared to be happy when I visited. The apartment I looked at was lovely. They have a wing there available if you should need medical help and that was a good feature too. This facility would satisfy what I was looking for. "

"I never really considered a nursing home for either of my parents. My dad passed away a few years ago and when my mother's life started to become because she was diagnosed with early Alzheimer's disease, I didn't have the resources or the time to fully devote myself to my mother. It took a while before my siblings and I decided that MapleCreek was the best choice for our Mother. MapleCreek offers a variety of living situations which is one of the biggest attractions that I found with MapleCreek. My mother is still able to live an independent life with assisted help. In other words she has her own fully functional room in a community within MapleCreek called The Woods. The room is pretty much like a mini-apartment. She has met some new people which I think has been extremely positive since the passing of her husband a few years ago. Some of these people suffer the same conditions that she does which at least from watching is an experience that is pivotal for her as well as personal. A spiritual thing would be the best way to explain it. MapleCreek offers a memory care program which is located within The Woods as well as advanced rehabilitation and one on one skilled nursing staff which is something that will be both inevitable and required in my Mother's future welfare. MapleCreek offers outings, a beauty salon, game nights and many other services that are crucial and have been extremely beneficial to my mom. MapleCreek is the last stop for most elderly individuals that come to live here. That is something that the staff made my family and me very aware of first thing when we were checking out the premises, which is true. A couple of the other facilities that we checked out kind of sugarcoated things which isn't what you need to hear when you're checking your only parent left into a nursing home. The staff at MapleCreek also includes Social Workers which is amazing because each and every one of them is specially designated into an area that coincides with the patients. A lot of the staff is young. That sort of turned me off at first because I wanted my mother to be dealing with people that were a little older and had a little more experience with life but so far everything has worked out in that aspect. I think the grounds at MapleCreek are flawless. The layout is immaculate. It doesn't feel like a nursing home at all. The cottage style condos and terraces that overlook the whole facility which are the independent living quarters really make the place feel like a normal housing community. Every time I drive up to visit my mom, I don't feel like I'm coming to a nursing home even though I am. My only worry is that the community isn't gated so anyone walking along can roam the grounds because it is located on a semi-busy street. 32nd street is in a decent neighborhood and the security is commendable but with the costs associated with MapleCreek, I certainly thing a gate would be advisable. Another random thought is the smell. I've always loathed the smell of hospitals and nursing homes. I can remember this nursing home that my grandmother was in and it reminded me of death, a stale dingy smell. MapleCreek does not have any weird smells; In fact it smells like a normal household would. Overall, despite the outrageous cost and lack of a gate I'm very happy with MapleCreek as a whole and wouldn't want my mother living anywhere else except with one of my siblings or myself. "

"We opted for a smaller room in memory care which is perfect because less furniture and “things” is perfect when dealing with dementia- large walk in closet is great with shelving up high for things you don’t want your loved one to get into- they love to rearrange and throw away their clothing- toothbrushes etc- staff has been very cooperative with requests for food preferences and enhancing nutrition- also with some special medical needs- with Covid getting more resolved the activities or musical offerings are increasing- stimulating dementia patients in different ways helps them focus on other things! I feel the staff tries very hard to meet the needs of the patient considering the staffing shortages going on for every facility of this kind- if you’re looking for a memory care unit -cascade trails has a warm comfortable vibe that is not intimidating to the patient and not overwhelming with housing too many people- it’s cozy!"

"Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community stood out in terms of the community feel and they had two spaces available that were twice the size of other places that we were looking for a reasonable price. So, it was like the right fit. It's not too expensive and fancy, but not too rundown. The people we talked to were very accommodating and friendly. There's usually a second-person fee for every month once my parents live there, but they gave them a deal where if they travel, they would waive the second-person fee. They didn't ask for that. They just offered. The menu looked really good. The smell from the kitchen was good and the dining room was beautiful."

The meal options offered at each setting are varied, well rounded, nutritional and tasty. Employees, from Eric all the way to the part time dining room staff are very friendly and accommodating to our Mother as well as family that comes to visit. "I recently moved my mother into StoryPoint Wyoming. When I first started searching for alternatives for her, it seems like an overwhelming task. StoryPoint was by far the best facility that I toured or inquired about. Every encounter I have with one of their staff, people is warm and reassuring. Even the executive director stopped by during our tour to introduce herself to my mother. She said she was available for anything she would need, and that included hugs. I find their caring and compassionate attitude refreshing. The facility itself is newly renovated, including common areas and individual apartment rooms. There are numerous activities available for the residents, as well as three meals a day. This was a big change for my mother, not cooking her own meals. However, she said she really enjoys socializing with her fellow residents at meal time. I really appreciate the simplicity of a flat monthly rent, which includes both her unit and three meals a day, with the option of adding on à la carte care services as they are needed. We opted for her first week to have her escorted 3 times a day to her meals. The care staff was great at coming to get her in her apartment, take her down to the dining room, and make sure she was seated at a table with friendly residents who are eager to meet her and converse with her. At age 103 I think my mother has found her new forever home. Surrounded by caring staff and friendly neighbors."

"Rivertown Ridge is a really nice place. They have their own laundry in every room, and they do housekeeping and linens biweekly. They have activities in different parts of the facility. The staff was awesome and did a really thorough job. The rooms are beautiful. Even the assisted living is really awesome. It's open and you have a view in the back or you can have a traffic view in the front. We really liked it. The apartments for independent and the assisted living are mixed together, and the memory care is on the second floor, but it's all in one building. They have a pub where you could get your breakfast or your lunch and a fine dining room for meals at night. Meals are included in the rent."

"I went to Byron Center Manor. It was very clean and neat, and very comfortable looking. The patrons seemed to be very friendly. I saw a one-bedroom, studio type thing. The staff was very nice. I just went in, viewed the kitchen area, I didn't get a chance to get friendly with anybody, I just went through the hall, down to the bedroom, and back out. It was all they would allow. There wasn't much of a yard. The apartment had a sink and microwave, and could fit a full-size bed, couch, chair, and a small table."

"StoryPoint was a little expensive. We had dinner there, and it was lovely. It was definitely gourmet; you can order off a menu, it had good service, and it was excellent food. The rooms were lovely, they had nice angles to the room, it had high ceilings, and everything was new and fresh. There was no problem getting around in a wheelchair. The staff seemed very nice, and they had a beautiful memory care area "

"Mom-in-law will be moving to Clark at Franklin. We chose that place, because of the level of care and its vicinity to our home. We plan on visiting her a lot, so we didn't want to be driving across town. They offer rehab services right on site, which she will need, and they had very nice, clean, and very appealing facilities. The rooms were very efficient. A hospital bed was provided, a couple pieces of furniture, and we could decorate her room. We were pleased and satisfied with it. There's always a nurse on staff and she can have all of her doctors' appointments. They have a chapel right on site, so the residents, if they want, can go to church, which was important to us. The staff, starting from the event directors, nurses, and aides, were great."

"We toured Porter Hills Village. It was a very nice facility, but it felt like a motel room. I mean, they even have little patios to walk out onto, which are nice. It didn't feel like you were living in a community. It was very clean and very different from how it's set up in the other facility, but it was certainly a very nice area. It just didn't feel like home. They were nice. I felt at heart that people really went out of their way to be friendly. They had a lot of volunteers. The dining area was nice and bright."

"Cook Valley Estates is very nice, it's more like apartments. They have basically the same facilities as the other place we visited, but it's smaller. I thought the apartments are nicer in their lay outs. When we went there it was after Christmas, so there was nothing going on. They have three separate dining rooms."
