I'm looking at Corewell Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center because they have long-term care for my brother. He could live independently and someone would just check in on him throughout the day. And my family and myself can check in on him as well. So the goal is that facility, which is nice. They have all the numbers for doctors' appointments and everything that my brother needs. They can provide exactly what he needs. It's a very nice and clean facility, and so I'm hopeful that that's a place that we can get to very soon. They have some rooms that are private, but even the shared rooms are big with a curtain between them. It is a huge room. The bathroom and things are made for patients that are in wheelchairs and such. It's very nice, very clean, and very hospital like. The staff is friendly. I happened to walk in when they had about 20 residents in a room doing some mental math games. And the nurse that showed me around was very professional and very thorough. I spoke to a family who was taking their mother out to breakfast, and so I asked them what they think about it, and they said it's topnotch. So for me, it's good. It's close to my parents' house, so they can visit him. It's one of the best I've seen.

I was a former patient at Spectrum Health Continuing Care. I don't think there's anything I like best about it other than it is close to home. I was there during the COVID epidemic, so visitation was a lot of maybe one day and then not at all for another week. That wasn't their fault. There seem to be two different levels for the activities. One for the general population and they had special activities just for the assisted living. And it was quite clear. PT and OT staff are excellent. I made a lot of progress while I was there. The rooms were very small. And the common spaces were fairly open. They all had big televisions, chairs, and Davenport's grouped. And the thing I like the least is for us to eat in the dining room. You'd be done with your meal, and you wind up sitting there for an hour waiting to get taken back to your room. Most of the time you have to use the facilities and it just was not nice.

Spectrum Health is a smaller center, which is what I like. It's more personal so the care is exceptional, and it's very clean. I'm out of state so it was even more important to find a location for mom that would best fit her needs. I was there when she was served food and it was very, very good. She's in a semi-private room, but it's so large that even with a dividing wall between her and the next resident, it's very spacious. You feel like you have your own room and the bathroom is very spacious also. There's plenty of storage for clothes or other items of comfort. The staff has been professional and caring. So, it's worth every penny.
