"The tour I had at Lakeview Village was good. The person that did the tour was very thorough and took me anywhere I wanted to go. He was very friendly. Everybody knows everybody as well as the residents. The first time I went there, I was looking at a buy-in, which all the residents you run into said that it's the best decision they ever made. It had a lot of things for guys. It had a good wood workshop that was very well supplied with equipment. It was very nice. The community seemed very close-knit, like a family. The buy-in facility was very new, very modern, and very well done. The one-bedroom had an open area type of situation. When I went back to look at the pay-as-you-go apartments, they're more limited in that area and it's in an older building, which for me made a lot of difference. The cabinets were brown and things were kind of beige and that type of thing, but that might work for others. They were going in and renovating those apartments that were vacant. They were also renovating the hallways and the entryways (because it's an older building)."

"Garden Terrace looks fabulous, and it seemed like it would be great. They have only memory care. They get all of the patients involved; it happened to be the time in the World Series, and the patients were all doing things for the World Series. They were also decorating pumpkins; it just seemed very good. It’s kind of in a busy area, but the building itself was fine. I was pleased with what I saw, and the staff was professional and pleasant. It’s very accessible, it's close to a hospital, and they told me that they have like three concerts a week. "

"I'm in Parkway Care and Rehab right now. It is very nice and clean. The staff is very nice. I got a private room, and it's nice, cozy, and clean. They have activities for the patients. They play games. They got everything. There's not a dull moment here. They keep you busy. They got a courtyard and a patio to sit outside. Its price is reasonable."

"What I liked best at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park are some of the staff, but I also don't like some of them. The atmosphere is good. I am no longer able to fend for myself, and they help me with fixing the meals, taking showers, general care, and medications. Most of the staff are very good. The rooms are small. It's supposed to be a two-person room, but if you get two people in here, it's very crowded. There's no place really to get away from your roommate or anything if you don't get a good one. The food, most of the time, is good. They serve a lot of rice, mainly different flavors of rice, which I am not fond of. I don't like rice, but I realize it's an economical thing to fix for a large group. I don't get into any of the activities they have, but they have quite a few. I watch a lot of TV. I have a DVR where I record shows that I want to see. They do as well as they can, but they seem to have huge amounts of rooms that they're responsible for in the housekeeping. They don't have the time to do any deep cleaning. They just don't have the time to do anything extra when they've got 50 or 60 different rooms that they've got to take care of daily. It's kind of impossible to add anything extra to it. Their housekeeping staff is excellent. The nurse's aides are one of the main reasons that I give a score of four because some of them are excellent and others are lazy."

"We visited Santa Marta last summer, and it was wonderful. I have friends who live there. It was beautiful and clean. Their food menu was very desirable; it’s like going into a restaurant and you can order what you want. They have activities for the residents. My friends love it there. "

"At the request of a relative who was considering Aberdeen Village, my sister and I dropped in to see the facility. My first impression was that this had to be one of the nicest facilities I had ever visited. The staff member who met us was very graciously showed us around even though we did not have an appointment. Every area, rooms, common areas, dining room, pool were clean and beautifully decorated. There were many resident activities which seemed would fit everyones tastes. As we were getting into our car in the parking lot a current residents relative parked next to us and expressed how happy her mother was living at Aberdeen Village. To me, the was the best recommendation of all! I felt comfortable that this facility is part of a well established network of care facilites with a good reputation. "

"My dad lived at Evergreen for 2 years and received WONDERFUL care. Staff is kind and competent, not a lot of turnover or temps, and Directors are good at communicating. They let the resident live on their own schedule and everything is personalized. The facility is homey, not fancy. The only drawback was that dad had a roommate which didn't bother him a bit but his room was very small and it was uncomfortable for us when we visited. Evergreen worked great with dad's hospice provider and when he died, all the Evergreen residents and staff lined the hallway as a final send off. It was very moving and I will always appreciate everything they did for my dad."

"I live in Claridge Court and I love it here. It's a wonderful place. It was remodeled about a year ago, or maybe a year and a half, and it's very up-to-date. It's a small community of senior residences and that is one of the things that I like most about it. You get to know everyone who lives here and it's like a big family. We all know each other and care for each other, and that makes it very pleasant. We have an activity room, library, card room, a tub, a grill, and a dining room. We have a big garage at the lower level which is good for safety and bad weather. We have all sorts of activities. We have a fitness center, lots of machines, and a big room where we have numerous classes of yoga, seated exercise, and volleyball. It can change all the time and we can change to different activities. The food is wonderful. We can order just about anything we'd like if we don't care for what's on the menu or are not very hungry we can order a hamburger, homemade potato chips, a grilled cheese or tuna salad, and chicken salad. We have wonderful employees. Many of them have been there for years and years. We have wonderful maids and good servers. The maintenance people and cleaning people have been here for years."

"Awful place. My mother has been allowed to languish in pain and they won't give her any pain killers. They claim they have to wait for a doctor's prescription, although the hospital sent all orders and medication list when she was transferred. They also have not been monitoring her diabetes as they should. He levels have been running dangerously high and they don't seem to care. Finally, it takes over an hour for a nurse to respond when my mother calls."
