"We toured Santa Marta Senior Living. They had very nice facilities. They had on-site rehab and physical therapy that we needed, and they had nice restaurants with good-looking restaurant-quality food. It's all very clean. They had a library and a salon. They had a pool and a pool on the hot tub for people who could do that. The staff was new to her position, so maybe there are some growing pains there. She didn't seem as attentive to the kind of answers that we were getting when asking questions. It seemed like she was kind of on autopilot during the tour and kind of robotic, and it didn't seem very tailored to us like some of the other places we visited."

"Awful place. My mother has been allowed to languish in pain and they won't give her any pain killers. They claim they have to wait for a doctor's prescription, although the hospital sent all orders and medication list when she was transferred. They also have not been monitoring her diabetes as they should. He levels have been running dangerously high and they don't seem to care. Finally, it takes over an hour for a nurse to respond when my mother calls."

"We toured Lakeview Village. I liked their very welcoming staff. The tour guide was knowledgeable, asked a lot of pertinent questions, and did a good job answering our questions. She was great and very personable, and she listened to the questions and used the answers to make decisions and guide our tour. The facility was nice. They have a full-time rehab on-site that is available, and covered parking is nice. They have both a library and a beauty salon in-house."

"My father has been at Westchester Village of Lenexa's assisted living since February and he's happy there. The place is very clean and up-to-date. There's an exercise room and a hairdresser. They also have bus trips and regular outings to grocery stores, Wal-Mart, and things like that. They provide transport to the doctor's office and doctor's appointments. They also have a preacher who comes in once a week and they do Bible study. The staff seems very attentive and professional. They're very communicative. The rooms are spacious, handicapped-accessible, and in good repair. I have not tried their food but he eats 3 times a day and he is happy with it. Their dining area is restaurant-style and it seems to be nicely done. They're on the high end, but I think I'm getting good value for my money."

"Garden Terrace looks fabulous, and it seemed like it would be great. They have only memory care. They get all of the patients involved; it happened to be the time in the World Series, and the patients were all doing things for the World Series. They were also decorating pumpkins; it just seemed very good. It’s kind of in a busy area, but the building itself was fine. I was pleased with what I saw, and the staff was professional and pleasant. It’s very accessible, it's close to a hospital, and they told me that they have like three concerts a week. "

"The heater and air conditioner had no in between it was either too hot or too cold. The staff was excellent. I never met one employee in there that didn’t have a lot of compassion. I am so thankful I went there. "

"I'm very familiar with Village Shalom because my mother-in-law goes there twice a week for adult day care. It is very expensive but it gives her a great stimulation which people needs. I have gone there to visit friends and to participate in activities and services. They have all kinds of things from bingo, studies, to academics, you name it, they have it. It's an amazing facility. It is small. They have a lot of staff. I like the staff a lot; however, it is expensive. They'll give you a private dining room for the family, which is nice. They have films, they have speakers, they have whatever you need. What really attracts me to this community is the fact that it is a Jewish facility and we are Jewish and it gives all the Jewish things, i.e., the services, the holidays, the kosher foods, it gives you all of that. If you're Jewish, it is fantastic. Now you don't have to be Jewish, they have a lot of people there who are not. "

"I toured Villa St Francis. The people were nice. The tour was excellent. It seems that the people were caring and I decided to go with that one. I had numerous locations that I went and looked at, but that was the best one. The lady giving me the tour was aware, kept me informed, and let me know all the programs and everything that was available, and that is a Catholic convalescent home. Everything is in-house. They do all the hiring as far as the doctors and staff. They have 24-hour nursing care available at the nursing home which I love dearly and wound care because my mom had a bed sore. The facility was nice and clean. The room was excellent. The dining area was nice. I asked about food preparedness because my mom has to be on a soft diet plan. We need people to help her eat and stuff like that."

"I was happy with the care for my father. He became strong enough to come home. The other residents were happy. The food was good and my dad is picky. Some items he didn’t like but they had other options."

"Aberdeen Village was beautiful, but it was the dollars and cents, having to buy into it, and $15,000 is a lot of money. It was so nice and clean. The man who took us around was just a lot of fun. It had all of the things that I wanted, except that I would have to buy it. The people were nice. They had everything so prepared. They had a train all set up. There were so many nice things there."

"Advanced Health Care of Overland Park appeared nice. My mother had been there a couple of times before, so she's familiar with it and she liked it there. She was happy with it. Her room was good and spacious. The food was good. She always looked forward to going to the meals. She had physical therapy and occupational therapy. They had crossword puzzles and crafts, popcorn, and ice cream social."
