They have transportation to outings or appointments. They furnish laundry equipment in the apartment. I toured around lunchtime, and it smelled good when I went in there. I saw the menu of the day and it looked very, very good. I thought it would be a good fit for my sister."

"My mother lives in Brookdale Overland Park. It is lovely. It has a pool. It has everything you could want including all your meals -- if you like meals without seasoning that is. They have to please everybody, so there is no seasoning. My mother's apartment is small, but it is more than adequate for one person. They have all kinds of things for senior citizens to do there. You never have to leave the place if you don't want to. My mother has a one-bedroom -- I believe you can also have two bedrooms. Her room has a balcony, a full service kitchen, a nice bathroom, bedroom, and living room. My mother didn't participate in anything. She didn't even go to meals. I supply all her foods. She's 97, but she still drives. She goes to my house, and she goes and do her shopping. I provide all her food. She likes her food with spice. I believe they have bingo, cards, and knitting, but she does nothing. The staff is fine from what I can see. They do what they do. They are nice. I have no complains and neither does my mother. They provide laundry for bedding once a week and cleaning for the apartment every two weeks. Then again, my mother doesn't have them do anything, but it's there if you want it. However, it will be nice if they come in to clean. That's the reason why my mother stops them. They didn't clean the way she wanted it done: thoroughly. The meals, I have eaten there, and I go "Yuck!" but they have to please so many people. So they are not going to cook Indonesian or Thai or the stuff that I cook that my mother is used to. It is too spicy and too different. It will be nice if they provide a little seasoning to make it taste good. "

"Our Lady of Mercy Country Home is excellent. My mother-in-law resides there right now and both my wife and I have been very pleased with it. The facility is kept immaculate. The food is very good. They're very caring. I would absolutely recommend this facility to others. "

"I toured The Princeton Senior Living. The apartment was spacious, clean, and new. It had a small kitchen. You bring your own personal belongings and furniture. They had a lot of activities. They had a room for exercise and games. They had a big dining room. They had some transportation for shopping or field trips. The dining area looked nice. It looked like there was plenty of seating and tables available. We didn't eat there. It wasn't really near anything. The salesperson was courteous, provided good information, and was responsive. It was almost brand new. It was in really good condition and clean."

"It is assisted living that I saw at The Madison Senior Living. It was a fairly new place. It's nice. The people there seemed to be very courteous and friendly. It's clean. The room that I looked at was a good size for my husband. It was a studio but well set up. They gave us just a little snack food while we were waiting, but they showed us a menu of what the people there would get, and it had a variety of things on it. The staff who assisted was very good. She's even checked with me two or three times since then. There was a variety of activities that would be provided for them if they care to take part. The facility was beautiful. It was a fairly new place, so it was in very good shape."

"The rooms at The Parkway Senior Living need to be furnished by your own furniture. The place is fine for someone who knows what is going on and can enjoy the social life that is going on there. "

"We liked Garden Villas of Lenexa. The staff was great. They were very informative, very welcoming, and lowkey. We also liked the price that they offered, and just the facility itself. The dining area was very nice and very clean. Their menu had lots of choices. It's an older facility, but it's been renovated so it looked bright, cheerful, very modern, and it smelled great. It had a happy atmosphere."

"My father-in-law moved into the Wellington Senior Living. The facility is brand new and beautiful. The community is good. Everybody's lovely and it's just perfect. I've eaten there one time and it was average. He said sometimes the food is really good and other times it's not. I wish they did more with vegetables, because I feel like they always serve french fries. I don't see a lot of vegetables that go into their meal planning for them. They keep them very busy with a lot of activities, which is good."

"We toured Senior Star at Wexford Place. We loved the facilities. We love what they offer to seniors the different games, whether the workout facility, the worship facility, or the rooms. We just love this facility altogether. We looked at a one bedroom and we looked at a studio. Both of them are spacious enough for my brother. It had plenty of storage closet space. We liked the whole setup they had. Their emergency cord, we like their system where they checked off the residence, where they gave the residents their own space, but they still would just have to follow up and make sure that they were okay in their room. Amber, I absolutely love her. They offered us lunch. We did not take much, but they offered it. They gave us a box of cookies to go and I gave it to my brother. They have an indoor pool. They had an outdoor courtyard where I think they had a little pond with goldfish in it. It was peaceful, if you just wanted a peaceful rest or a peaceful view, they offered that."

"Crestone Senior Living is beautiful and new. The only reason I didn't go with it was that the rooms were a little bit smaller than the other facility. The staff was great. She was very nice and welcoming. We just had little appetizers that they brought out when we got there, and it was great. They had a library and a gym."

"We liked it here. The two-bedroom apartment was spacious. We liked the idea of having the washer and dryer in it. They had a lot of activities and that's what I was kind of going for. The apartment had a kitchen and a microwave, a full stove, and a full-size refrigerator. We were looking at the independent living and then we could go down and eat our meals downstairs. They had what they call the bistro and the day we were there, they were having prime rib and it smelled delicious. They have a theater room where at night, you can go in and watch movies, and I thought that was unique. They play bingo. You can go down and do cards or work puzzles and they take little trips. There was a bus parked in the parking lot. They had a beautiful courtyard where you could go out and sit. They had awnings or umbrellas over the bench to help you from the sun."

"We enjoyed our tour to Bowen Tower. It is a 55+ apartment. We found this place through the internet. It is exactly what we're looking in an independent living. They basically have everything that we wanted. What we like best is its location. Also their apartments are just perfect. They are spacious and have extra storages. Most retirement places do not have two bathrooms in one apartment. Fortunately, Bowen Tower has that particular type of apartment. This is an absolute essential for us as a couple. This facility also offers monthly activities. They have a gathering place and a chapel. We like all those things. The thing that they could improve on, however, is better parking. "
