"Sunrise of Overland Park was good, but they didn't have any vacancies. I would have picked it in a minute if they had vacancies because that was a very nice place. They didn't have any rooms or spaces that were going to be vacant within the next 90 days. The staff was excellent. I even asked questions that I wouldn't normally ask if somebody told me that they didn't have any vacancies. Sometimes you're ready to leave right then, but when I said, "Even though you don't have a vacancy, do you mind if I ask some questions?" she was very accommodating. She walked in and showed me a room of one of the people that was out and they just opened the door and let me look in. I looked at the bathroom to see what that was all about because I think it's important that the showers not be too small."

"After spinal surgery and a stroke, my mother went to Brookdale Overland Park for a month of intensive rehabilitation. Her experience was terrific. The nurses, therapists, and doctors on staff were thorough, professional, compassionate, and encouraging. They took the time to get to know her, and encouraged her in a safe and realistic way. She emerged after one month, competent and confident, and ready to return to independent living. In addition, the facility provided excellent activities and self care services like happy hour, football game viewing parties, and a hair salon, making her time there not just productive but also enjoyable. Finally, the administrative and support staff provided me with the information I needed with regard to finances and continuing care upon discharge from the facility. Overall, I would give Brookdale Overland Park a double thumbs up. We loved everything about it!"

"My mother-in-law has been living in Vintage Park of Stanley for a year now in a private room. We chose it because it is close to our place, and when we visited, they liked it. We talked to the manager, and we liked everything around the facility. She likes the food very much. She does participate in activities, and they take them to different places. It's a great place; I definitely would recommend them. "

"We are on the waiting list for Mission Chateau. We chose them because the people we met and talked to, including the person who showed us around and gave us the tour was spectacular, and that was a very important reason. And the second major reason was the financial model that was used, there was no large buy-in upfront. The person who toured us was friendly, professional, thorough, and a good listener. The place had the things we were looking for. I can't do much physically anymore except swim, and it does have a swimming facility. There are all sorts of activities, clubs, and gatherings that we can choose to get involved in if we want to."

"I really liked Brookdale Rosehill. They had more than ample activities for anybody. I would like to live there. It was like a little town setting inside a facility. The menu looked really good with a lot of options. The staff that I met was very informative."

"It's quiet there at Brookdale Wornall Place, even though it's kind of in a busy area. It doesn't have anything behind it. There are fields there. Even though you're not very far off the road, it still feels like you're out in the country. The room has a small kitchen and a refrigerator. We looked at a couple of one-bedrooms. The staff who toured me around was very knowledgeable. It seems like he has been in the business for several years. He was very patient. I had my dog with me, and he took that well, too. The place was clean. I didn't smell anything. They got friendly staff. When you walk in, they got a large entryway. You don't have to walk up any stairs or anything. I noticed that they got ramps. We took the elevator, and we took the stairway, too. They have an underground, which was nice."

"My wife will be moving into The Village at Mission. We chose it, because of the facility's capabilities, the people, the overall appearance, and the feeling that it's well managed. The people we met were all very friendly and helpful. Their dining area was very spacious. They have everything that she will need such as a physical therapist to work with her."

"The Heritage Avonlea of Olathe is a very nice facility. I would consider it more on the line of just assisted living than independent living, but it has a very nice staff, and it's very clean. I didn't see any activities, but I know they had a full calendar. I also met the activities director, and she was very nice and friendly. I think they had just finished up something before I got there for the tour."

"The Crestone Senior Living is a very nice facility. I toured their independent living side. It's brand-new, and the staff was extremely friendly. We also ate lunch, and the food was really good. It has a lot of activities, too. The apartments are nice, but a little bit on the small side for my parents. Other than that, I think most people would find it very nice."

"After researching and visiting several assisted living/memory care facilities, we moved my mother with Alzheimer's to Trustwell Living Mission Springs nearly 9 months ago. We have been very pleased. As Mom's condition has changed, it has been easy to work with both executive and direct care staff to make changes in her care plan. We visit frequently and have never arrived to find anything concerning. The apartment is very adequate with enough space and privacy. The common areas are kept very clean and orderly. Though there have been some staff transitions, there are always some activities during the day. Mom is very comfortable with her care staff, and they relate to her very well. The community is not enormous, and this has been a benefit. The surroundings are open and floor plan simple. Even though Mom is often confused, she has been able to navigate her surroundings without too much difficulty. Mostly, we just appreciate the staff. They are ever present and communication is very good."

"Armour Oaks Senior Living was a nice place. They have nice apartments. I haven't tried their food, but I saw some of it and it looked really good. They have a lot of activities and it would be a good place for my brother. It was a nice visit. They did a good job. I think their floor plans were pretty much the same. Each room has what they call a sunroom, which is a place where a person can go and just kind of relax a little bit. That was very nice. I looked at a one-bedroom. I think it's a good place. I'm going to take my brother there and let him look at the place himself. It's not perfect, but it's nice."
