"I live in the independent living community of Riverstone in Kansas City. I really don't think there's another community as nice as this one in the area. I have a studio apartment. I'm a widow, so I don't need a lot of room, but the studios here are huge. My studio is bigger than most one or two-bedroom apartments in other places. They have full kitchens with solid oak cabinets, a dishwasher, a stove, and a washer and dryer. There's lots of storage space, too. It's just more than one person could ever expect. The whole facility is also spotless. The floors, the woodwork, and everything. We get housekeeping once a week and they clean our apartments. It's wonderful. The hallways are kept as clean as everything. We have a full theater. I think we seat about 100 people in our theater, and we have movies two or three times a week. We have a full fitness gym, which has lots of activities. We play games, we have parties, and we have music once a week on Fridays, which is what we call our happy hour. We have treats and wine if you want them, and soda if you don't like wine. They have wonderful choirs coming in and also children coming in, so we get to experience life. There's children just running down our halls laughing, visiting their grandmas or grandpas, or like me, a great-grandma. Families are encouraged to come and participate in our lives. We get three meals a day. We have an open deli, which we can access 24 hours a day. We have a coffee bar that has espresso and all those fancy drinks, and a 24-hour-a-day ice cream, which is good. We can also get fresh fruits, sandwiches, cookies, and anything we could want. It's convenient because we don't always like what's on the menu. We also have one of the biggest salad bars you'll ever see, and two kinds of fresh soup every day. We have a lady who does all the salads, and she's a genius. There are always two proteins, so for instance, if there's roast pork and you don't like that, then there's probably a chicken dish or a fish dish. We also have banquets all the time for birthdays and anniversaries. Even if your spouse has passed, you still celebrate your anniversary here. The staff here is second to none. They are absolutely wonderful. They treat us like kings and queens. We have all sorts of staff here. We have our dining room staff, concierge staff, cleaning staff, and management staff. They are always in tune with your needs and your feelings. Being elderly, we lose our children and our freedom, and they make the adjustment so smooth for us. Especially with me, moving from a place I'd lived for 80 years into a state, and they welcomed me. You walk in, and you're surrounded by hugs. The rate includes everything from cable TV, Wi-Fi, to food, housekeeping, and house maintenance. You put in a maintenance report here, and the maintenance man is there the same day, fixing whatever it is. For myself, it's a great value."

"I like Garden Village very much. I'm quite content and happy here. I'm satisfied with the establishment. I like the residents. The staff members are very caring. My apartment is beautiful. There are activities, but I don't engage very much. Nevertheless, Garden Village is more open, so I don't feel confined here."

"Tiffany Springs Senior Living Community was outstanding. I thought the place was like an A-plus. It was really well done. I could see my wife there. I could see myself in the independent living building as well. They have a game room and plenty of activities. You could even have a glass of wine or a beer at your meals, and that was a nice touch, too. We do like to have a drink, so it was nice knowing you could have that as well. It has everything we hope for in a retirement or assisted living facility. They were very friendly and outgoing. The facility was so clean and well-organized. The lighting of the place, I thought, was top-notch. The hallways were wide. You didn't feel like you were cramped. They had tall ceilings."

"Brookdale Wornall Place was too big. The units were bigger than what my aunt needed. They had full kitchens in them, and she didn't need that. We didn't like the people that were there. We didn't think the guide that showed us around was really that friendly. When we went to another place, they took us in and they had a folder and stuff ready for us, but this person didn't have anything. She was just like, "Here you are." She showed us around a little bit, but the size of it was the main thing. The cleanliness was good. The residents I saw seemed happy. We liked that they had a little store where you could get necessities and they had candy and other things you might need in there. They showed us the beauty shop, the gym, the pub, and that was kind of interesting. It was very pretty."

"I have been in Brookdale Place Overland Park for six years. It has been a very good experience, and there are lots of activities. The only problem for us right now is that it is not assisted living although there are quite a few people here who use some extra services that could be assisted living. The surroundings are good and the location is in a very good place as far as the outside things to do; doctors, hospitals, and a lot of things very close. The facility itself has been remodeled in the last two years. There is a very friendly, warm environment from the people who live here. It is a very, very pleasant experience for my husband and I. We've made lots of friends, and I find that the people here are very accommodating, and they want to help you as they can. "

"My parents moved to The Crestone Senior Living and it's been a good experience. The staff is caring. The food is delicious. The facility is beautiful. My parents' room size is OK. The dining area is just adequate."

"I toured The Groves. I like the staff and the people who live there. The size of the apartment is nice. They invited us for lunch, and the food was just excellent. They are half the cost of the other facility, but they don't have as much staff. There are more people per staff member. Becky, the director of marketing, was excellent, and when my dad changed his mind at the last minute, she gave me my money back. Normally, they wouldn't do that. The Groves have older buildings, but they're clean."

"My mom has been blessed to live at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home. She had not been eating well and was really tired of cooking for herself. The three meals a day have been wonderful for her. Breakfast is delivered to her apartment since she doesn’t get up early. She walks to the cafe for lunch with friends. She, sometimes, walks to dinner and at times, asks for the meal to be delivered if her energy is running low. Mom is 95 years old and loves the library’s selection of books. She plays cards with friends and participates in other activities as she can. Weekly housekeeping is a great perk, as is daily emptying of trash. I feel confident that she is in a caring, comfortable place with friends and staff who care about her and check on her daily. I can relax a little more, just visit when I see her and not feel as much stress about caregiving. I highly recommend that you visit Our Lady of Mercy Country Home and experience the atmosphere of Care with Dignity for yourself."

"I went to The Madison Senior Living. It's very open. I didn't see a lot of diversity in the community, but the staff was nice. The patients that were walking around were pretty friendly. The dining area was nice. It was open and bright with a lot of windows, but I didn't try the food. The staff who gave the tour was nice. He answered all my questions and answered things that I didn't think I needed answers to."

"The Wellington Senior Living was beautiful. It probably had everything I wanted. They have an indoor pool, and they have quite a few machines that you could work out on. I looked at a two-bedroom because my daughter lives in Saint Louis, and I want to be able to have a place for her to visit. The room was very good. It was not arranged as well as the two-bedroom at the other place, but it still was plenty of room for one person. Since that second bedroom is for guests, I would be able to go ahead and use that closet in there if I wanted. I wouldn't have to move clothes around, and I have a place where I could have my sewing machine and I could have a small table. They had a washer and dryer in every unit. They have assisted living right there, too. The staff who toured me was good. He pointed out lots of things. They have places outside. The staff said we're allowed to have potted plants or whatever. They have groundskeepers."

"It so far has been very good. I chose this place for my mother because they have memory certification. I wanted a place for when my mom progresses so we wouldn't have to move her again. The staff is very friendly and caring. Their rooms are outstanding, the place is practically brand new. They have nice common areas and very comfortable living areas. We got her a one-bedroom, which is the biggest; they have two choices: the studio and one-bedroom. They have events, but in the COVID environment everything has been curtailed. But in the normal world, they would take them to play bingo and on outings. They have really nice dining facilities, but right now everyone is eating in their rooms. It is expensive."

"My sister is here. It seems to be very efficient and a very nice place. They take them to different places. They also have a conference room where they can go and get movies and stuff on travel or whatever. They have a library and computers. They have about anything that you want. She just moved in, and I'm assuming it's everything she's going to need."

"My mom is at The Princeton Senior Living. We chose it for her, because it was close by and it was a new facility. It's also clean. The staff is friendly and the food is good. They have an exercise room, movies in their mini theater, and music."
