"We toured Lakeview Village. I liked their very welcoming staff. The tour guide was knowledgeable, asked a lot of pertinent questions, and did a good job answering our questions. She was great and very personable, and she listened to the questions and used the answers to make decisions and guide our tour. The facility was nice. They have a full-time rehab on-site that is available, and covered parking is nice. They have both a library and a beauty salon in-house."

"I live in Claridge Court and I love it here. It's a wonderful place. It was remodeled about a year ago, or maybe a year and a half, and it's very up-to-date. It's a small community of senior residences and that is one of the things that I like most about it. You get to know everyone who lives here and it's like a big family. We all know each other and care for each other, and that makes it very pleasant. We have an activity room, library, card room, a tub, a grill, and a dining room. We have a big garage at the lower level which is good for safety and bad weather. We have all sorts of activities. We have a fitness center, lots of machines, and a big room where we have numerous classes of yoga, seated exercise, and volleyball. It can change all the time and we can change to different activities. The food is wonderful. We can order just about anything we'd like if we don't care for what's on the menu or are not very hungry we can order a hamburger, homemade potato chips, a grilled cheese or tuna salad, and chicken salad. We have wonderful employees. Many of them have been there for years and years. We have wonderful maids and good servers. The maintenance people and cleaning people have been here for years."

"I have already moved into Kingswood. The facilities are old, but they've been well kept. The food is very good. It's just not what they provide, you have many choices, and that's good. There are lots of physical activity. The people seem to be very friendly. Because of the friendliness of the residents, I would give it a 5. I haven't participated much in activities because there are so many problems, but I think they'll be just fine. I have been staying here for about a month now."

"Aberdeen Village was beautiful, but it was the dollars and cents, having to buy into it, and $15,000 is a lot of money. It was so nice and clean. The man who took us around was just a lot of fun. It had all of the things that I wanted, except that I would have to buy it. The people were nice. They had everything so prepared. They had a train all set up. There were so many nice things there."

"My mom was in the independent living at Silvercrest at Deer Creek Retirement Community for about ten years. She was not happy with the food. They had home health care onsite. They also had an assisted living section. It's very homey, it's decorated nicely, and it's all up-to-date. They just finished a renovation. They had garages available that you could rent. My mom had a two-bedroom apartment. It looked good. They had activities all the time. They had trips to different places and things onsite all the time. You can participate in them if you want or you don't have to. They did cards. They had games. They did bingo three times a week. They'd go to restaurants or the grocery store. They had a van. They'd take residents to their doctors, dentists, whatever. The staff was not as tuned in to the individual resident. It's independent living, so they can't do anything, like if my mom fell, they would call 911, which I understand, but it depends on the situation. If you see something going on, you would call the family even if they're in independent living. They don't get involved, so they just consider independent living as independent living. I think that you should get to know your residents and if you see a change in them, you might say something to their family or express a concern. I think the price was a little high. It's nice, but it could be nicer for the money. They're charging a little bit more than they deserve."

"We toured Colonial Village. They have all levels of care. It is big, nice and open. It meets all the criteria. The problem is that the dining room is closed in the evening. They don't cook dinners. They cook two meals, breakfast, and lunch. One of the reasons we are getting out of our house is because my wife is incapable of cooking. They met all the criteria except that they don't have meals in the evening, so we were quite disappointed. The rooms are nice and big. They have one- and two-bedrooms. They have one-and-a-half baths and two baths. They have a lot of variety of things. They have all the usual activities, and those rooms were nice and big, too. We went around with the staff, Jill, and she was extremely nice."

"My husband and I have lived at Tall Grass for 6 months. We feel we made the right decision and love it here. The information from the sales staff was accurate, honest and helpful in decision making especially the “Why move Twice” suggestion. There was a lot of attention to detail as we moved in. We’ve found the food and amenities to be more than adequate. Staff are friendly and helpful. With the importance of physical and mental health as we age, there is a bountiful supply of clubs, workout classes and gyms, social activities groups, and just informal socialization from all the friendly residents. We have made so many new friends!"

"We toured The Fairways of Ironhorse. The place is fabulous. It's nice and clean and it's right on the golf course. We had lunch there, which was good. Their pricing structure was a little different, but it is doable. They have one-bedrooms and two-bedroom-two-baths. They're quite long rooms. They have an underground garage, but they charge you for it for a hundred bucks a month. They have a washer and a dryer in the unit. It's very impressive. However, they don't have assisted living. The staff who assisted us, his name is John, and he was super nice. He invited us to lunch, and we had lunch there. For amenities, they had everything. They had transportation to shopping and to doctor's visits. They also had group activities."

"Cedar Lake Village has so many activities for people to do and has a much more Christian base to it, which I am looking for. I have not talked to one person who has not been impressed with this place, whether by living there or working there. I have a friend whose dad works there, and he's been there for 17 years. He said the people there are always very nice. The food isn't as good as the other facility I've been to. You can only eat until noon. So, you get all the breakfast that you want and lunch, and then you can pick stuff up to take back to your rooms for evening meals. I didn't like that so much, but it is good because some people don't want a lot to eat in the evenings. The staff was excellent. They were very friendly and very helpful. I ate lunch there and it was OK. I am not picky, and it wasn't anything extravagant. The building was very clean, but it's old-fashioned. The main part of it was not super up-to-date, but for old people who like that kind of thing, it would make them feel very much at home. To me, it doesn't matter. I could go with it or not. Their rooms were not quite as updated, either."

"I visited Foxwood Springs, and my friend is a resident there. What I saw was good. It was nice, quiet, peaceful, and clean. It seems like it was neighborhood friendly. You could go and walk or walk your dog freely with no hassle. They offer you your lunch and dinner. The facility is nice. People were pleasant to talk to, and you got a good vibe."
