"I really liked it. It was really homey. It felt comfortable. If I were to go, that’s where I would want to be. I loved the people that were in there. They were all friendly. They had a 24-hour kitchen; if anybody got hungry anytime, there was somebody there to cook for them. It was a very nice place."

"I got to The Wellington Senior Living at meal time for lunch and I sat down and had a BLT and it was a pleasant experience. Their hallways were longer than I've experienced, but the facilities were fine. The first time I toured it, I saw the regular independent living facilities and I looked at them closely and I liked them. They're very clean and updated. They looked very fresh and everything like that. I was rather impressed with them. I had two different people that took me on the tour. The first person I had on the first tour was very helpful and let me see what I needed to see. The second person was the one I had lunch with, and he was also just as helpful."

"The Laurel at Norterre has a homey feeling. The people I talked to were pleasant. I looked at the studio rooms and one bedroom. I have a friend who's there, and she's happy with it. That's one of the reasons I'm considering it. I went there for a birthday party for her last year. It's a nice and clean facility. Most of the people there seemed like they liked their jobs."

"My experience was great. It was excellent. Everyone was friendly. It was a beautiful place inside and outside. There was nice architecture. The situation where it's located was good because you have a view of the Plaza from the upper floor levels. The rooms were nice and set up well. There seemed to be a lot of activities. They take them out in a van, and they kind of insist on the people going. They don't want them to become isolated or whatever. It was a nice facility. The lady gave us all the information and took us on a tour. She has also called since I visited just to check to see how far along we'd come and how my husband was doing. They showed us the menu, what kind of food they have and the variety of food. They have a lot of activities that they put together themselves. There are different areas there. They have like a theater room and different rooms where you can have a little private get-together or whatever. It's set up nice. It's an excellent place. It probably would be my choice if I have to make a choice."

"My mom happily settled into Trustwell Living at Mission Springs. The staff is great, and my mother is happy. The rooms looked very nice. They're not big, but my mom has plenty of room. They come and help her. They make sure she doesn't miss her meals and gets her services done. I think it's a fine choice for her. The staff members are very caring, responsive, and competent. They have entertainment, music, storytelling, and games. They have a couple of different lounges with TVs, so they can visit each other. I think it's a great value for the money."

"I've been here at Brookdale Rosehill for rehab for about 2 months now. I like their occupational and physical therapy. They're caring. I haven't had any complaints about the staff here. My room has an ADA-compliant shower. It is a walk-in shower that has handrails all the way around, so everything is accessible to you. The only thing I have to complain about is that the toilets are low. The rooms are big with big closets. The doors are wide. I have a wheelchair, and I can get in and out the doors - the bathroom door and the entry door. They got me an air mattress because they noticed that I was getting sores. I have a television, a reclining chair, and a regular chair. Some of the rooms have carpet and then some of the rooms have hardwood floors, and I'm in one with the hardwood floor. The staff is fine. There was one time when they were very short-staffed with CNAs. They serve meals and they're pretty good. I haven't had any complaints about the meals. They give you a menu the day before to choose what you want to eat for the next day. We get three meals a day, and then they have snacks out by the kitchen, like fruits and chips. Each day, they say what activities they do on the calendar. The only thing that I've experienced is group occupational therapy. When I first came here, they gave me a book on the things that they do here. They said there is an emotional dog that would come to your room, but they haven't had a dog come here. I'm looking for the dog to come, but it hasn't happened."

"I am moving in at White Oaks at The Groves Senior Living Community. I chose this place mainly for the price, but it's also a decent place to live. They didn't have all the amenities that I was hoping for, but I think that's going to improve because I talked to the guy that's in charge of everything now, and he had a good feeling about it. I only met him and he just seemed like he was on top of everything and had some good ideas for the place and cared. They had an exercise room that had one thing in it. I think they can improve on a lot of things. But I also think that this guy just started and I think he's going to try to bring it back to the glory days. It's pretty centrally located in Independence, so it's close to downtown."

"Oak Pointe was nice, new, and clean but too far from where we wanted to be. The staff was nice. The rooms weren’t big enough for our needs. The grounds were OK, but it was a newer place and had not completely grown in yet. The dining area was fine, clean, and big enough. "

"Armour Oaks Senior Living is very nice. It's kind of dark and dim, it's an old building. But it's by far the best option. You get a 1-bedroom apartment with a bathroom, kind of like a dressing room area and a front room. It's a really good deal, it really is. I just met one staff and he's very nice. It's not for profit and I'm up on the air on that one. It's really nice but it's old. Their rooms were very good, there's nothing wrong with the apartment and it's really quite a bit for your money. The location is pretty decent and everything is fairly close. They have pretty much everything like dining, a rec room and some kind of an indoor theater. They don't have a pool but that's not a loss. They provide 3 meals a day, and it was very reasonably priced. It's very nice and probably one of the best offers in town financially."

"I toured Trustwell Living of Raytown. My first impression when I stepped into the place was that it was very nice. The person giving the tour is very accommodating and knowledgeable. I appreciate that they have almost a formal dining room or a dining hall for their residents and they serve their breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant style. Their apartments are larger than an average senior apartment, so that was pretty impressive. Even their studios were wide and spacious."

"We are residents of the Garden Villas of Lenexa. What we like best is that we have an adequate apartment size, and the least, sometimes they're a little slow with their maintenance, otherwise it's OK. They're short-staffed a lot. But the food is good, it's laid out OK, and they keep the place clean."

"We like Trustwell Living of Overland Park the best mainly because it was a smaller facility, and it was built in an H shape. The dining areas and other areas were in the center, and you walk out of your room and then there was the elevator, so it was not so much of a walk from a person's room into the outside areas and the eating areas. For some reason, we like it better. The staff were very nice. They do assessments of the residents to make sure what level they would need to be, and a person's doctor would order assisted living. Nobody had ever said something like that. They have different therapies, they have podiatrists that come in, they work with a dental group, and they have beauticians that come in, but this is the only one that ever mentioned a podiatrist. We like the layout, and the rooms were nice, too. The location was convenient, which would be another thing. There weren't that many residents and it was a smaller facility."

"We liked The Crestone Senior Living. It was an excellent place. The staff was wonderful to talk to and work with. We were able to have a meal there and it was excellent. Everything about that across the board is a number five, but they were about $1500 more a month than the other place and they don't accept Medicaid. So as soon as I run out of money, I'm going to have to move my wife out of there and put her into another place. It's one of the most expensive ones. The rooms were excellent. The studio didn't have anything else except the room and the bathroom. It had a sink with a microwave and a small refrigerator, so that was nice, probably not necessary because she would probably forget that it was even there. Everything in that place was nice. It didn't have a range. There was counterspace."
