"My father has moved into Tonganoxie Nursing Center. It's good. It's clean and it's not cluttered. He's in a semi-private room, and he shares a room with somebody else. They would provide him with everything he wants if he'd just asked them. He's called me a couple of times and said, "I need this" and I said, "Put the nurse on and I'll talk to her," and she says, "Well, he's already had that already" or "I'll give it to him." They have TVs in their rooms. They have a piano in the lunchroom. There are a lot of different things that they could do. They probably have games and stuff that they can play. The only food I've seen so far is soup and other stuff, but I haven't tried it. The dining area is nice. They have enough tables for all the people. They don't make them come down all at one time. They have four people at a table, and I've seen them feeding people over there. My dad has had an appointment out of the nursing home once or twice and they've missed getting him there. My dad loves to go to the VA and he goes to the one in Topeka, so they have to transport him there and I have to meet him. When he went in, they made sure to get all his appointments written down. The transportation lady didn't get it, so they couldn't take him to his appointment. One of them, they ended up doing a video call, and I couldn't get on the line to hear about it. He's on Medicaid."

"We're moving our aunt to the Healthcare Resort of Kansas. I liked it because it has an open-air feeling. The facility seems to be very neat and clean. They don't have a huge number of residents. They have a nurse onsite 24 hours. We just thought based on those recommendations, they have the things we were looking for, so we're gonna give it a try."

"Both of my parents are settled in at Country Care. We chose this community because it had the most nurses per patient, and they were more caring than what I could see at other places. They have a menu and they get plenty to choose from if they don't like what the main meal is. They have bingo almost every day and then, they are taken on outings. My dad gets to go out at least once a week. For my dad, his room is a smaller size because he gets confused easily. My mom has a larger one though. I would recommend this facility. "

"My dad gets cared for at Advena Living of Bonner Springs. Like everywhere else right now, they are short-staffed, but his room is nice and roomy. He's treated decently. They dress him and attend to him. So, he's well cared for. The food is also decent. The atmosphere is pleasant, and I haven't seen any unhappy people there. It's an old building, but it's kept up."

"I toured Riverbend Post Acute Rehabilitation. It’s near, I liked it, and it’s nice and neat. I knew people that live there, but I couldn’t afford it. The rooms and the staff were really nice. They have a cafeteria for the residents, they have house cleaning, and they played Bingo and have happy hour."

"My mother and my cousin were patients at Medicalodges. My mom was there twice for rehabilitation. I was very satisfied with their service. They will keep you inform. It was like a family facility. They're close to the family of the residents, and let them know how they're doing. This place is very good. They feed them three times a day, give them showers, clothed them. It's a good facility. They both went to different activities that they had like bingo, their hair and nails done, and they give allowance for whatever they needed for what's not in the cafeteria. "

"I'm in Parkway Care and Rehab right now. It is very nice and clean. The staff is very nice. I got a private room, and it's nice, cozy, and clean. They have activities for the patients. They play games. They got everything. There's not a dull moment here. They keep you busy. They got a courtyard and a patio to sit outside. Its price is reasonable."

"I'm in Tiffany Springs Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. It's great. They have bingo, outdoor adventures, and arts and crafts. The food is healthy and tastes good. My room is very clean. I'm in the nursing home. I'm not receiving any therapy right now, but every so often they offer it. They have books that you can read, and they offer a movie once a week. The dining room is clean. The staff is very nice and they seem to know what they're doing. They've got two to three different areas where you can go outside and sit, and they've got flowers and some vegetables growing. They have singers come in and different things."

"I had my grandmother in this facility for almost 2 years. Everyone was so nice to her. I never worried when we would go home at night, I knew she would be very well taken care of. The nurses were very good about calling the family if they sensed any physical or mental changes she had. I will always be appreciative of the staff "

"We toured Hillside Village. The rooms were a nice size room with a walk-in closet, and that's the only one that had a walk-in closet. It's very clean and very homey. They did everything possible. They worked with us. They told us everything. She was very good and helpful."

"I was impressed at the cleanliness of the facility and the effort to maintain the appearance of the facility. Decore was clean and crisp and tasteful. Staff were so helpful and willing to provide my needs when apparent and made the extra effort to ask if there was anything else I needed. Their care and attitude helped me gain a favorable stay and return home safely. The activities provided for the resident were varied and appealed to many tastes. I especially enjoyed bingo! The amenities offered were varied including snack runs each shift, drink runs whenever necessary and again, various activities for a myriad of residents. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is serious about gaining care and/or rehabilitation. As an aside, the rehabilitation program is stellar and the staff exemplary. "We went with Hickory Pointe. It's very small and very rural. It was probably built in the 1970s. The place is kind of old-fashioned, but it looks good and is kept up well. The grounds are mowed frequently. The people are very caring and kind. The chef cooks really old-fashioned foods like chicken and dumplings and homemade bread. Mom fits in well. The rooms are large and have nice dressers that were probably built in the 1970s. You can tell that the facility has been freshly painted. The windows look out on rose bushes. It's just rustic. Each room has its own bedroom, a bathroom, and two dressers. There are private and semi-private rooms, and I think they are quite roomy. There's always room for improvement. I would highly recommend this place. "
