I have come to depend on the caring staff at Sweet Life to be my eyes and ears when it comes to my mom's needs and they have not disappointed me. When I placed my mom at Sweet Life, she was malnourished, weighing just under 80 pounds. In the 5 months she's been there, they've ensured that she has regular, healthy meals and she has gained 14 pounds and is now at a weight consistent with her height and age. The staff is in regular contact with me regarding my mom's needs and any accidents or incidents she might experience. Every time I visit mom, I can count on seeing her clean, well groomed and comfortable. I can also enjoy the clean, homey atmosphere of the common area. I am very satisfied with the services and the care that the staff provides and would recommend this facility to anyone "

"Sunrise was amazing and it's like walking into somebody?s house. The staff was extremely warm, very welcoming, very professional and know the residents by name. The facilities are beautiful and are well maintained. They are up to date in terms of style but they're comfortable. The only thing was the rooms which were available at the time were small. It has on site medical care. They have an aide assigned to your loved one personally to get them acclimated to the facility and check in with them once a day. The director is very warm, personable, and easy to talk to. She had a lot of information and gave us answers that made us feel our grandmother would be taken care of the way we will take care of her. I wanted to move in. "

"Armour Oaks Senior Living was very nice, and the rooms were really spacious. They offered a lot of amenities like the laundry and the food. The staff, Mr. Dallas, was really good and very informative. My mother couldn’t afford it, so he gave me some other places to call and tour. This is where I really wanted my mother to be. "

"The tour at Sunrise of Leawood is good. It is a beautiful location, but to me, it has a bit more of an institutional feel. Also it is in more of an office park area, so it doesn't feel quite as homey. The grounds are very minimal too. It is mainly just a building. The amenities are good. They're standard to anything else like tours, musicians coming in, and transportation available. "

"The staff and the manager were much better than the other place I visited. It would have been the place my parents would have gone to. The room that they could afford seemed to be bigger. They had a two-bedroom unit, and they had what they called the super studio with a pretty good size room. It had a bathroom, a walk-in shower, and a little kitchen. They really liked Avonlea. They met the needs of mom and dad. They had an activity room where they did paintings and some dancing. There was a garden out back. "

"The Room my husband is in is small but adequate he doesn’t need much anyway and actually he doesn’t need to be in a big room. The food is pretty good if they’re on the third floor where they need a lot of help they might consider another menu. Those people can’t use knives and sometimes need help eating. The staff is friendly and very nice. They are spread pretty thin though."

"My mom's been here for a week now. It was a very easy and smooth transition. The amenities are excellent. They have a social dining room. They have an arts-and-crafts room, which is the activity room. They actually have a specific dining room just for the people in the memory care area where my mom is. They have pianos and people who come in to play music during the meals. They're served individually. The rooms are very nicely appointed. They're actually small apartments with a living room, a bathroom, and a bedroom. They include a washer and dryer and a kitchenette. Their staff is very pleasant and very attentive. The food is very good. I've had several different meals with my mother, and she enjoys them. She's always full and there's plenty of food. They get three meals and two snacks a day. It's very clean, and it smells wonderful when you walk inside. The cleanliness is great, and those are all things that I was looking for. They have a lot of new staff, so they're getting up to speed. That's just a concern to me. Some of the food is good, but it could be a little bit better. For senior citizens, though, it's probably the best for them because they don't over-season it or anything like that. The activities are excellent. The activity director is very lively, very good, and very inclusive. She makes the residents get up and do things. They've had a carnival, they've had bingo, and they've had musicians come in. This is all within one week, so every day there's something going on."

"This community is outstanding. The staff is exceptional. They are always helpful and friendly. The care is exceptional. Never had any problems and my friend had plenty of activities to choose from. There is a very active community with all sorts of interests available. There are shuttles available for residents. The rooms are wonderful - private and well-appointed. "

"The visit here was wonderful. The woman that gave me the tour was terrific. She explained everything and showed me everything. I felt very comfortable there. I know that my brother-in-law and his wife would be very comfortable there. They could start out as independent living, which is what I toured. He will eventually end up in memory care. I like the sizes of the rooms. I like the social gathering areas. Everything was lovely. They have a restaurant, which is nice. They offer a bus to take you places. They have social gatherings at different times of the day. It seems like quite a wonderful community. It was pretty scarce people-wise the day that I was there. I don't know why, but there were just a couple of people. There were three people in one of the little breakfast lunch area. They were just having their coffee and chatting, but I didn't have a chance to talk to them. Those are the only people I really saw. There were a couple of people coming and going, but that was it. I met the social director and also the activities director. They were both lovely."
