"My grandmother is in Water's Edge Center for Health and Rehabilitation. It's very clean, very simple, and everybody seems very kind. She doesn't like the food so much and doesn't participate, but they have physical activities like wellness, and a shuttle to a shopping center."

"We have had numerous meetings with the director of the facility (Tom) and the staff or "Team" in charge of my mother's "Care". Unfortunately despite the meetings and our voiced complaints the same issues continue. One of our main concerns is my mother is supposed to get her medication at 8:30 AM, very seldom does this happen. She will get her meds as late as 10AM and at times after 11am. Even after pleading with the nurse that our mother is in pain could she please get her the medicine, we were told she needs to wait her turn. The delivery of food has been very inconsistent as well 8:00 Am breakfast not coming until well after 9:00 Am and dinners served at after 7 PM at night. Our mother has to use a bed pan and has been told at times by staff on duty a bed pan is unavailable and that she should just relieve herself in her pants/diaper. She has also been told that she needs to urinate too much and will just have to wait to use the bed pan. This is even after my mother pleaded with staff letting them know that she is taking a lasiix's for the swelling in her extremities, this helps her pass fluids and causes frequent urination. This doesn't mean all the staff there are bad, as there are some very caring individuals, When they those people are not around our mother suffers the consequences. "

"My mother is at The Pines at Bristol Center for Health and Rehabilitation. I would give them 100. They are pleasant and very friendly. The room was always clean, the entrance was clean, and the kitchen area was clean. I did not find anything to ponder over. The receptionist was very polite. I have no complaints so far. The lobby was welcoming, and they offer you areas to sit. I observed my mom at suppertime and the food was appetizing from looking at it. She said she liked the food. She doesn't have any complaints. She said they took her for a walk. She was there mainly for rehab. They were very active with her because at times I would call, she's away with physical therapy. She said she enjoys their company and the nurses. I saw a gym area. I think she gets her money's worth. She talks highly of the staff."

"My mother was at Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation. It was very, very nice. It had a homey atmosphere. It was clean, too. The staff was good. They showered her every day, and they gave her physical therapy every other day. The facility itself, the people, the staff, and all that were excellent. For activities, they had little sources of entertainment. They had people come in and sing, play games, and dance. They had activities. The food looked pretty good to me. However, the way they discharged my mother, they didn't send her out with her meds. And they dragged their feet discharging her. I didn't like the discharge. Nevertheless, anything other than the discharge, I was very impressed with Ludlowe. The staff was phenomenal. I think they were good value."

"The Guilford House was lovely. The nursing care was very good. Everything was very good. My dad ate three meals a day, and for him to say the food was good is pretty good, because he's picky. He had therapy every day, even on the weekend and he went home in very good shape."

"It was very difficult to place my dad in a long term care facility however, I couldn't have picked a better place for my dad. I was extremely impressed the minute I met with the social worker and the director of nursing. It was easy to see how they truly care about each of the residents and provide individualized care based on the needs of each person. Apple Rehab of Guilford has a dedicated, professional and informative staff that has always keep me involved and updated in my dad's care. I appreciate and value how patient, understanding and empathetic everyone is with not only my dad but myself included. When I walk in to visit my dad and I see him getting a hug or someone giving him a kiss or simply talking the time to rub him or greet him in a friendly, genuine way it just warms my heart. Even though my dad has dementia a couple of times he commented on how nice it was and how he liked it here. That reaffirmed what a loving, caring, kind facility it is. While it is hard to watch a loved one decline and become dependent on others for care it is wonderful to know that my dad is well cared for by nurturing and loving caregiving. I'm so truly grateful a friend suggested that I look into Apple Rehab for my dad."

"Watrous is an often overlooked facility along the shoreline and it shouldn't be. It might not be brand-new or even recently redecorated, but the staff is truly caring and the patients really do receive excellent care. There is a great sense of the staff working together as "team players" in caring for the patients. I would recommend Watrous for both short-term and long-term care. "

"The staff is stellar...remembering all family members names no matter how often they come to visit. They truly care for their patients, both physically and emotionally. I would rate this facility a 5 if only they were able to find the funding to create a more appeasing appearance to their facility. But they do not have the luxury to do so...which is okay because the staff more than makes up for what aesthetics lack. "

"My partner stayed at RegalCare at New Haven, but it was a terrible place. It was supposed to be for rehab for him to walk, but then when he got there, they never gave him any rehab. First night there, I said to them, "Give me some towels. I'll bathe him for you," and they looked at me like I had three heads and said to me, "We have no towels right now," and I was like, "Excuse me?" then they said, "All we can give you is a bath blanket to dry him with." She gave me this bath blanket. I went into the shower room and there were pampers all over. It's showing that it wasn't cleaned after each patient, and it was terrible. I came every day and the next day, I found my partner sitting in a corner drooling on himself so he was soaking wet. I said no, and I can't leave him there. They had him mixed up with everybody, and it wasn't a safe spot for confused people like him. They had a blind man, and they put his food in front of him and he ate it like a dog. They dont have the facility to take care of people with dementia or lost memories. Some of the staff members were very kind and concerned and they knew right from wrong, and there were some that didn't care or were too busy. The food was terrible though. The facilities were smelly, which I understand, but the dining area where people come in and eat had cloth seats on them, and if they peed on the seat, it was not cleaned, but instead a blue pad was put on top of it so the next person could sit on it. They should have seats that can be wiped down every day. I was overwhelmed, so I leave the place crying every day because I was leaving him behind."

"I LOVE Mary Wade! My husband, the Reverend Godburn, was a patient there several times in the period from October to December 2014. Where to begin? If you need care, RUN to Mary Wade From administration to Nursing to Dining staff, Mary Wade is the best! Did you know, if you (a spouse) are there during meal time, you will be offered a guest tray? And allowed to eat with your spouse? I would be remiss if I did not mention their outstanding LOBSTER SALAD. YUMMY!! Who ever heard of such a thing? Did you know a ride to medical appointments can be arranged, if necessary? May Wade offers a wonderful, thoughtful, caring attitude, during a very stressful time. All of Connecticut should be very proud that Mary Wade is part of our state and community. There is no better facility in the entire country, in my opinion. My husband died in March 2015, and my family and I included thanks to Mary Wade at his service. In short, I LOVE Mary Wade, and I think you will, too! Elna E. Godburn "

"interaction with staff was ok but there not enough staff to attend patients needs . Now they will now will be recieving covid patients, which, is ok , but the staff has been working with not enough personal care protective supplies. dietary, laundry and Janitorial are using a mask that at the end of the shift, they place in a bag for next day. No gowns to go to the floors. They are told.there is not enough supplies. Now they work with fear of contamination their familes when they get out of work , I don't know who to ask for donations. Maybe administration very can get more supplies. Very concerned "

"My mom was placed in a convalescent home. It is a skilled nursing facility named Regency. It is perfect for her because she needs 24 hour care. That is a fantastic place. Both of my parents have been there previously for rehab because they have rehabilitation services and skilled nursing care. They have centers for Dementia there also. Their experience with the rehab is fantastic. My dad passed away back in January, and he was the number one caretaker for my mom, so she decided to stay there because of the 24/7 care that she needed. She is totally disabled. She has been there since October. They have anything that you can ask for. I visit her every day, and it is perfect because it is only a couple of miles away. "
