"We looked at Solstice Senior Living at Guilford and it all looked very nice. It's high quality, very clean, and looked like a very nice place to live. The people there needed more assistance than my father. He's 75, and the average age there is towards the 80s. He felt he was a little too young to go there. They did a lot of nice activities, they had a movie night, they have game days and game nights, and reading events. It looks like a nice place for people to socialize. The staff was very friendly. The sales associate or person that we were speaking with was very knowledgeable and friendly, and followed up several times afterward. They wanted to make sure that we had all the information that we needed. And they had a waitlist at least as of November, and you can put a refundable deposit down and secure a place if you'd like."

"Charter Senior Living of Orange is absolutely beautiful. It has plenty of options for what kind of room, how much care you need, and how big a place you need. However, it was a little over the budget at the time, with what Mom wanted to spend or what she was expecting, so it was a bit of a sticker shock, and so Mom kind of got cold feet with the whole thing. The people who were running the tour were great. They were fine. They did a great job. They showed us everything we needed to see and told us everything we needed to find out. The place was only a couple of years old; it was just a great place."

"I went to tour here. The layout was very nice. It was very spacious and very clean. The rooms were very nice in size. The staff was average. They have the same amenities as the others. They have a hair salon, a movie room, a dining room, a private dining room, and a library."

"We went to Spring Meadows Trumbull, and it's absolutely gorgeous but very expensive. The staff was delightful, caring, and the rooms were more like hotel rooms. The whole facility looked more like you were going into a hotel, but the prices where more than I could pay. The dining facility and the meeting rooms were lovely."

"Our tour of Covenant Living of Cromwell was great. It was awesome. It was like a hotel when you walked in there. It was absolutely beautiful. The staff was amazing. They had a cafeteria, a restaurant, and then they had a coffee shop. So there were three places you could go for a meal. They had a snack room, too. They allow you to have three meals a day, but it was like a credit card setup where they give you so much money every month and allotment for food. I think it was $300 for each person a month. The menus were awesome. The apartments were very nice. They even had a deck where you could go outside (each one had a patio deck). It's very quiet and you could bring pets if you wanted to. They had a movie theater, a music room, and an activities room where you could crochet or needlepoint or have any hobbies, you could do it there. They kept their residents engaged with a bunch of activities going on. We would have picked it, but we just couldn't afford it. It was a little on the high side."

"I like Motif by Monarch. It's very nice. It fits my needs. The location was great. The people there were great. The activities seemed to be good. It's an A-plus. They had a library and a gathering room with a bar, and that was nice. They can eat outdoors in good weather. Some of the rooms have a kitchen, and some of them don't, so it depends on what you need. I only interacted with one employee and she was very nice and very informative. She did a good job explaining everything to me. She was very knowledgeable."

"First off my mother only being there a month but in that month's time I got to know Janelle Courtney and nurse Aaron. The whole facility was nothing but exceptional regarding the care they gave my mother and her last 3-4 weeks of life. I think they considered me like family and vice versa. I investigated six other facilities in the area and none come close this establishment. She enjoyed a private room with a great view and to be honest the chef there is amazing for the food. Thank you so much for the attention you gave our family. "

"I went to Maplewood at Southport. I think that was the most beautiful facility that I went to, it's the most modern, a lot of the activities they had been up to date like they provide them, Alexa, for all the different people in the community. They had virtual travel with VR technology. It had a nice courtyard area, and all the rooms were very nice also. The staff was great, and they gave me something to take to go."

"It was very nice. It was close by my mother's home, that's why she considered it. But it was a long distance from the room to the dining room. Also, the rooms were very small, It's like a hotel with a one tv room. We viewed the dining room, it was lovely. We also looked at the menu. They seemed to have a lot of things. They take people off on two vans to concerts. I recalled they have bingo and my mom said it's for old people! But it was a little constrictive for someone who hasn't lived in an apartment. I would want to live here because it's very attractive and pleasant."

"My mother moved into evergreen woods last year. It was the best move she’s made in years. Everyone there is very friendly and respectful. Even though she hasn’t been there very long, the employees are almost like family. I would highly recommend Evergreen Woods to anyone looking for a great place to retire to. Sincerely, Glenn Batter"

"My mother was very happy with Tower One; it’s just that their waiting list is kind of too long. I thought that it was really decent, and my mother was happy with it so I was pretty much happy with it. My mother has a sister here, and that’s why she likes it here. There are a number of activities you can do there. They have a little church, sometimes there’s bands, plays, and movies. "

"I was very impressed with this facility. From the secretary to the President (who was very visible and accessible) my Grandmother, the residents and all visitors were treated with such respect and kindness. I very much looked forward to my visits and my Grandmother loved being here because she met so many great friends. There were also always activities going on throughout the day such as games of chess, trips to local shops and weekly movie nights. I also really enjoyed the food. It was served in a fine dining room where the waitstaff wore tuxedo shirts and bow ties and the food was very high quality. If there ever were any issues the waitstaff, hostess and manager would all make themselves visible and would accomodate any special requests. It was an expensive facility, but it provides you with so many great opportunities and experiences. There is a pool, library, store, bank and even a hair salon all on the premises. There is also a health-care unit which is staffed with many able nurses. This was an empowering community for my Grandmother and I am so glad that she was able to stay here and that I had the privilege of spending time with her and all the wonderful staff. "

"We like Masonicare at Ashlar Village. My father stayed there for two weeks. It's very organized and very clean. The people are wonderful. Everybody comes up to you and introduces themselves. The nurses and the director knew exactly what was going on. If they didn't, they'd find out. The aides were great. My father had somebody stay with him 24/7 named Sam; he was awesome. They took care of his meds. It was very clean, and it was like a hotel. My father had one bedroom with a bathroom with all these handicap things. He had a little kitchen area combined with the living room, sitting area, and three nice-sized closets. They had a ton of activities; unfortunately, he wasn't well enough to go. They do have a ton of activities every day. They have ice cream sundae days, floaties days, singing, and some entertainment on the weekends."

"My mother is currently in Crosby Commons at Wesley Village. She has been there for five and a half years now. I would give everything an A-plus there. It's a lovely community. The people are very friendly and willing to help. It's immaculately kept. The rooms for the residents are lovely. The grounds are like a country club, so there's lots of room for the residents to go out for walks, and there are sidewalks, fountains, and gazebos. She's had a very positive experience there. They have lots of daily activities to keep them engaged. They have trips in the community, and they bring in people. There's always something going on. They're not just sitting around. The only negative comment about the place is the food. I find that the food selections are very unhealthy. It's high fat, high cholesterol, and high sodium. And for the people who are living in an assisted living facility, most of them at this stage in their lives probably have diabetes or heart conditions, et cetera, and I just don't find that suitable, and certainly not for my mother, so that's an issue right now. Even though they say in their brochure they can accommodate the dietary restrictions of people, and the reality is they can't. That's why I'm looking elsewhere to someplace that can because it's negatively affecting her health right now. Because maybe they don't have an onsite dietitian in that building or somebody who could plan healthier menus, I'm not happy with the food. They do get their meals, but I'm very disappointed with the quality of the food. The overall experience there has been very positive. I think the value for money is comparable to others, so I think it's very good."

"This was the only senior living community I visited, after checking out other places via web sites and phone calls. I came to one open house...11 minutes from my country-setting home in Killingworth...and I knew immediately this could be my next home. Compared to other places in CT, Chester Village met all my needs; a lovely rural setting, small cozy layout of connected buildings, lovely grounds, expansive updated apartments, pet friendly, yummy food and incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable staff. I moved in last fall and have discovered what a Gem on the Shoreline Chester Village is. Now, with 9 months under my belt, I have found a family of seniors of varied backgrounds who make the place feel like home! I am very social and outgoing, so I have made many friends and am more active, creative and happier than I was the previous 6 years! The staff is phenomenal in every way! Kind, helpful and REAL! If there is a problem with anything, there is someone who will work on resolving it or find someone else who can address the issue. Masonicare has invested dedicated resources, time and attention to updating the campus- in their effort to provide the best experience for those living and working here. And we residents have a voice that is listened to and respected. All in all, I am very grateful to be living here, and so is my family! Treat yourself to a visit and you will leave CHARMED! "

"Heritage Commons was very good and I was very pleased. It's beautiful. The apartments are gorgeous and they're different sizes according to residents' needs. The make you dinner, but you have a full kitchen in your apartment so you dont get lunch and breakfast. Everybody was extremely friendly. I liked it. I spoke to a couple of residents and they all spoke highly of it. The dining area was very comfortable. They had a long list of activities."
