"Home Instead is a quality care giving support company. I have been associated with them for about a year after experiencing some disappointments with another agency and could not be happier. Home Instead comes to your house to access your situation and then follows through with careful selection of caregivers suited to your needs. In my case, it is a husband with Alzheimers whose needs are ever increasing. Home Instead establishes a regular, weekly routine for continuity. The people who schedule (and the whole staff) help are enormously helpful and courteous. They do everything they can to provide substitutes when necessary. I fortunately have the "perfect" combination of caregivers who are patient, caring and kind with my husband. "Right now, I have somebody from Right at Home Middle Connecticut for a week, 24/7. It's one person, and she'll move on to her next assignment when she's done here. The kids just wanted me to have somebody here 24/7 when I first came home from rehab. She's here to make sure that I don't fall and that I have someone if I need anything, like heating some lunch, and that kind of thing. Just making sure that I'm careful and don't get hurt. It's nothing like the bathroom kind of stuff, because I'm able to get in and out of the shower, and the actual bathroom. The people who support us have many good ideas I could also use. They come to all doctor visits, help get my wife in and out of the car, and participate in the discussions with the doctor.
