My brother is at Brookridge Retirement Community. It is fabulous. It is the most wonderful place. It is clean and lovely. Everybody has been kind, cooperative, and as helpful as anybody could ever have been. I'm blown away by how wonderful it is. My brother has a private room and the room is great. Views are all over the windows. You look out over a forest. Driving into this place is like driving into an estate somewhere. It is wooded. It's just ideal. He's not completely cured yet, but he tells me that they've done exercises almost every day. He says he is doing better. The people are helpful and unbelievably kind and supportive, even the man who answers the phone. When you call, you're immediately hooked into somebody. You get beautiful Beethoven music while waiting and somebody answers the phone right away and they tell you where you are in line (I've never been higher than two in line). The place is lovely. Just perfect. It is great with nice-sized rooms. It's always clean, neat, and well-lighted, but cozy. For my brother's money, it's just been a great spot.

I stayed at Brookridge Retirement. I had a nurse, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Sometimes, when you walk into a place like this, it has a smell, but this place didn't. It was like walking into somebody's home. It is a great facility. The food was good and appealing. You had a choice. They would send you what was on the menu for the day, but they also would let you select something different. My room was very spacious and big. They're very expensive, but my insurance paid for it. You get quality, service, and housekeeping. It's top-rated.

Brookridge Retirement is a continuing care. The staff is unbelievable. They have longevity and my mother-in-law has been there a long time, and they have followed her through the progression of her dementia and made sure she was in the correct level of care all along the way. It was small enough that she knew the people who were caring for her as she moved from one level of care to another. She is still with the physical therapist that she was so familiar with and the CNA when she moved into memory care. They have an extremely high ratio of caregivers. They only have ten memory care units and they have four nurses, and so they have kept her very happy. I've eaten there frequently and I think they really cater very well to whoever's there. The cafeteria personnel are incredibly caring and really going the extra mile. Before they put her in memory care, we met with seven different professionals, people with the PHDs and masters. The activities director was there, the dietitian, the speech therapists, and physical therapists. They have programs set for her for the nurses to execute, and I think the activities given to her were appropriate for whatever state she has been in, including when she was in the independent living. In the memory care they have drawings, paintings, a kitchen set up for them to work in, and just a variety of things. It's tailored to each individual resident. Like my mother-in-law can no longer draw or paint or do that kind of thing, so they have other things that she can do. It's not a one-size fits all. I think, price wise, they're very reasonable.

We went to look at Brookridge Retirement. The staff took us to an open room. She told us we could go down to the gym where they did physical therapy, but we didn't go down there. We saw the room and the hallways. They were also doing construction on the main section and making it nicer. The room was nice. They had a nice closet area to put the stuff in. From what I heard, the staff was new at her job. She was nice and friendly, but not as informative as the lady at the other facility. The facility smelled and looked fresh and clean.

This is a gorgeous campus, safe, friendly, and with good nursing care. The main building could be a bit more bug-free, but that's not my reason for giving it only 2 stars. I became a resident because Brookridge advertises itself as a Christ-centered Baptist home. In practice, it's neither. It is like all other non-church affiliated CCRCs. If you're looking for a Christ-centered environment in which to spend your final days, this is not the place. You, as a resident, will be told that talking about your "religion" (Christian beliefs) is not acceptable - and, indeed, you'll not be permitted to discuss your faith. If you wish to start a Bible study, you'll be told that "you can start one in your apartment" but that "Brookridge will not sponsor nor advertise it in their weekly calendar, newsletter, etc." Instead there are secular socials centered around alcohol, both on campus and various entertainment. The worship opportunities provided are liberal in approach. or off-campus. As a former resident, I feel that I should caution anyone looking for a Christian community with openness about one's faith and fellowship centered on Christ and Christian beliefs, that Brookridge is not the place. Although they are lovely, caring people, the current staff have no concept of what this means. If you're just looking for a good CCRC, Brookridge may be for you.

This is a wonderful place to live. The maintenance staff is always willing to put together furniture, hand pictures and check on potential problems. The dining room serves appealing and a variety of food and the wait staff always tries to please the residents. On campus is a physical therapy group with wonderful physical therapists. The surroundings are beautiful and garden homes for independent living are spacious. The people residing at Brookridge are encouraged to have input into the various aspects of living. A resident council keeps in touch with the staff and makes recommendations for change. There are numerous activities to enjoy both away from campus and on campus. The costs of living are not as high as some other groups who offer all levels of care. A positive is four levels of care; health care which provides nursing care, memory care, assisted living and independent living. The community is located close to grocery stores, banks, restaurants and the post office. Medical personnel visit for the convenience of those who cannot drive and there is transportation to medical appointments available as well for a fee. We have resided here for two years and have no complaints.

I visited Brookridge Retirement two years ago where my father-in-law was. It seems to be staffed properly in the memory care unit. Everything was in good working order and up to date. I would say that the community is in good shape. The dining area and food is good. For institution food, it is better than most. The staff is very attentive, helpful and pleasant. I like the setting. It was actually in a forest so it's very private. All the facilities were in very good shape. We were paying a premium, but it was definitely worth it. If I ever had to go to one, I would want to pick this place because it's a good choice.

My mother lives in the Healthcare building on the 7th floor. The current staff, with the exception of a couple people, aren't very personable or interactive with the patients. Needs more upbeat employees who don't have ghetto attitudes.

Brookridge Retirement Community was very nice. I was very impressed with it. Since we have dogs, they showed me a ground level unit. It was really nice because we could just open our little patio door to let them out. The facilities were very clean and really nice and had very friendly people. The director of marketing was wonderful and nice, and I liked everything about the place. The rooms were great, I saw both the unfurnished and the furnished ones, which helped me see how the furniture fits. They wanted me to come back and have lunch. They showed me the dining room and the menus, and took me to their little café. I also saw the private dining room where they have family over, which was really nice. They also had a swimming pool and a fitness room, which were important to me.

My parents moved to this community more than three decades ago. Brookridge has taken care of them the whole time. Never mind the comments about upper management. The people who have taken care of my parents (security, maintenance, food services, and the folks in the assisted living area, who took care of my father with Alzheimer's and type 1 diabetes until he died, were all wonderful. And they still are.

My best friend took up residence here about 6 months ago. The facility is very nice as you enter it and it's equally nice inside. The nursing staff is superb; very attentive and caring. But I'm not at all impressed with the upper management and especially the way they talk to their employees. I overheard a woman chastising a nurse or nurse assistant in a hallway and my friend that resides there told me she was one of the big bosses of the facility. I don't feel that is very professional behavior to criticize an employee publicly. My friend tells me the day staff is very attentive but not the the night staff because the bosses are gone. I'm not sure I recommend this place to others.

My grandmother recently suffered a stroke, and my mother and I were trying to find a location for her to go to receive skilled nursing, and then have the possibility of long term care, with Medicaid. Admissions told my mother they would work with her, and she went to sign the papers to have my grandmother transferred. The very next morning, they called and informed my mother that the wouldn't take her because of the possibility of long term care with medicaid. I feel they could've informed her of that prior to the day they were planning on discharging my grandmother. Now, we're scrambling to try to find another place. I don't have to set foot in the place to recognize and understand that's not how you do business. Highly disappointed in this establishment.

We placed him in Brookridge. The rooms are awesome, and the food is very good. He is comfortable, very well cared for, and as happy as can be. They are expensive. It was three blocks from where he lived.

From the outside Brookridge seems to be a beautiful community, but after placing my family member there I soon saw differently. Upper management is extremely unprofessional, and if you ask questions you always receive a roundabout answer. It's as if no one really knows what's going in in the building. The nursing care is subpar, and the associates seemed disinterested in my loved ones care. I would not recommend this facility to anyone!!!

My mother has Alzheimer's and is in the Brookridge. My sisters live in Winston Salem and they're both nurses, but I'm not really sure why we chose this facility for my mom other than they had availability at that time and we've been very happy with her care there considering that she's in a very bad shape. Most of the staff seems to be very nice and is doing well in providing her full care because she can't really do anything. The facility has a pleasant environment.

My father moved through all of the care levels at Brookridge, from independent living to assisted living to memory care to nursing care. All along the way the staff was responsive to any concerns that I had and went out of their way to be helpful. The memory care unit is a little gem - a beautiful (enclosed) garden area, two cats for company and the residents eat together around a kitchen table. My father resisted moving at first but soon grew to love it. My only negative was that some caregivers were uncomfortable when my father started talking about dying.

this facility has no integrity when dealing with people who are dealing with difficult times with their loved ones. They misrepresent their policies and do not give adequate care to residents. I would certainly look at other options with staff that care about their patients and their families rather than see them as opportunities to make profits.
