Nursing Home Communities in Advance, NC

"The Oaks is a Great place, I have had family and friends to stay at that facility and they all had wonderful experiences. Left there with great rehab and nursing care services. They would highly recommend The Oaks anytime. Rooms are big and private. Housekeeping is wonderful. The staff is very kind, caring and compassionate to the residents and famalies. Activities are great. Favorite activities are Bingo of course. "

"I was shocked at how bad this place is. My father was placed here with the intention of getting rehab but never saw any. He was in their care for a little over a week and a half and several times we came and had to get someone to get him a bath or change his clothes which should have been done without having to ask. The Cna's are awful.... Not all but most if the ones we encountered. You have to have a heart for the job and many are there just to collect a paycheck. The end came for us when we arrived at 12:30 one afternoon, my father had been in the same shirt for two days... No bath.. We called for a nurse. They found he had gained an infection so bad on his back died that he immediately had to be transported by EMS. If he had been cared for and checked daily I believe it would have been found sooner. My father said they never came when he would ring his bell, or it took them forever. I would never place a loved one at this facility!!!!! Their own staff said they were trying to leave because it was so bad there. The smell is awful and so is the service. The rn's were great... That us about the only nice thing I can say. They should be ashamed of their facility and someone needs to investigate. We are filing a complaint. My father had to have a surgery that he almost didn't make it out of because he received less than appropriate care here. "

"My mom came out of a rehab center -- the Winston Salem Nursing and Rehab. She was there for about a month. They could have been a little better. Some staff that was very nice, but a lot of them was not that good. They were kind of lazy. When you walk in, you don’t feel everything was clean. My mom didn’t particularly like the food. She hardly ate up there. I did notice that some of the stuff that she wasn’t supposed to eat, she was eating up there, so that wasn’t good. "

"I have a friend who lived at Arbor Acres. They’re clean, attentive, provide three levels of care, and do what they say. I followed my friend from her home to her apartment to her hospital room, and she was served well. "

"We placed him in Brookridge. The rooms are awesome, and the food is very good. He is comfortable, very well cared for, and as happy as can be. They are expensive. It was three blocks from where he lived. "

"Mature, experienced, competent staff, caring managers, with many years experience with this facility. Excellent care and beautiful grounds, gym for physical therapy, portable x-ray, outstanding care. One of the best I've seen, highly recommend. "

"Salemtowne was nice. It was expensive so not many people can live there. The rooms were good. They were nice. They have swimming, they have an exercise room, and they have lots of nature trails. "

"Wonderful staff and care given. I was a resident here following a broken hip. The food could have been better but , in retrospect, my diet had not been beneficial to my health for a very long time , and I felt better than ever before after eating a diet that was healthy. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. I would highly recommend this place above all others in Lexington."

"I was originally very pleased with the care my mother received at Springwood. However, recent changes in staffing have negatively affected the care she receives. It is extremely hard to get appropriate wound care, the facility has an unpleasant odor more often than not, it is difficult to get anyone on the phone, instructions are not relayed appropriately between shifts and I am not entirely sure there would be much care at all if it were not for the Hospice staff. I have gone from being very satisfied to very dissatisfied in a short period of time. "

"My dad has been in Alston Brook for rehab since April. It has been a good experience. They have been attentive, he has had no complaints, and anything that we have asked about, they have addressed. The place is beautiful. When you go in and you look at it, it's very pretty. Sometimes, that doesn't say what kind of a place it is but in Alston, the care and the service that you get are just as beautiful as the facility so we've had no problems. They've taken really good care of him. It's been a great place and a great experience. His room was equipped with a recliner, a floor lamp, and a TV. It's a big and spacious room, it's got plenty of room. There's a walk-in shower, no step-up, and just walk-in with the equipment there. It feels like a home away from home. It's decorated beautifully, with plenty of room, lots of cabinets and drawers to put your things in, and just beautiful. They have an ice cream shop that's open twice a week that they take the residents to. They have multiple outside patios that they can go out to. They have crafts and singing. There's a calendar that they post in their rooms, which has the daily activities, and they get to choose what they would like to participate in. "

"My husband is at Willowbrook. They're taking care of him, giving him his medications, and keeping up his hygiene. He goes to the physical therapy room, rides a bike, and does some arm exercises. He gets speech therapy, too. The care is fairly good. They help him with bathing, putting his clothes on, and things like that. They serve three meals a day, and you can ask for snacks. I go and take him to his doctor's appointments. Willowbrook is fairly good at taking care of him. When he calls the nurse, the nurse comes within a reasonable amount of time. "

"What I like about Trinity Glen is that they keep in contact with the family members when they find something out about the patient or whatever. They communicate well with the patient's family, whether it's their guardian or a power of attorney person. It's a very clean facility. The food is good. Mom has been there a short time, but the staff is friendly through my experience. It's not a locked-down facility. You can just go in and sign in. There's always someone there at the desk greeting you. I know there are a lot of patients out there who are self-pay, but for those who aren't self-pay, I would recommend that. Mom is on Medicaid and Medicare. Even with some of the places that are just for self-pay, I would have her at Trinity Glen from what I've seen. They're pretty good when patients need changing or something. They don't leave stuff sitting in the rooms. They take it out immediately. They have an activity board. They have bingo, church, and crafts. They also took two people from skilled nursing to the fair and I was impressed with that."

"A friend of mine stayed at Lexington Health Care for a week. The place is clean and it smelled clean. They did a very good job taking care of him, but his level of care was just too high for that type of facility so he needed to transfer. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They did a good job in making us feel welcome. Our overall experience was very good. "

"I found this facility to be extremely clean and the staff were very friendly. I was extremely impressed with the Administrator and his obvious love and enthusiasm for his staff and residents. My aunt just received therapy at the Brian Center and I was extremely happy with her progress and eventual outcome. I would highly recommend this facility. "
