"When we went on tour at Clemmons Village II, they had private rooms and a room for a double. It was organized. The staff was cordial. They do daily activities. They have like movie nights, bingo, and stuff like that, so that seems to be interesting. It's everything that would probably fit my uncle's needs."

"The staff at Brookdale Peachtree was very knowledgeable. I met people that had been there for 16 to 20 years, so they had staff who liked working there. And they were fully staffed, they were not looking for employees. The rooms were very nice. They showed me a model room as well as an empty room, which is a possibility for my mom. There's one room that had a door that went out to the courtyard, so that was very nice as well. The staff gave me an example of what activities they do in a month. They gave me a calendar of what they had planned this month, there were various things every day from music to arts and crafts to, all different kinds of things."

"TerraBella Salisbury was very nice and clean and had friendly staff. This is strictly assisted living and the rooms were not as big as the other place. The staff recognized that we would fit better in with independent living, and they're the ones that sent us to the other place. It was a quick tour, so we did not see a lot."

"We were able to get my mom into Brookdale East Broad. They seem to be a little bit more fitted for her. Their price was pretty much all-inclusive, and I was able to get her in quickly. She wanted a private room. I like the way the staff do their meds and I like their experience. They help her with activities. They got assistants that help with that. They got everything that Mom needs. They have a hair salon, a PT area, an activities room, and a screened-in porch on the back that she can sit on. So far, we're getting everything that we need."

"Gardens of Statesville & Cardinal Village had comparable amenities and activities with the other place. We liked the big private dining room for families if you want to have a family get-together. I like the big lobby when you walk into the building with the piano and the entertainment area. They were under renovation, so you had to have a little bit of imagination about what it was going to look like when they got finished, but that didn't bother me. I think Mom would have done fine there, but the other place was less expensive and quicker to get into. They had the same kind of amenities and services that the other place does. And for memory care, they had a separate facility for activities. Their dining area was very good, too."

"I toured Harmony at Brookberry Farm. It's a relatively new place. It's very clean and well-kept, and I had a good tour. The washer and dryer were nice, and it's in the bathroom, but I would not need a new kitchen. They only give you one meal, so I didn't like that. You have to pay extra. Their bedrooms and living areas were nice. The staff was very nice. They took me to every floor and showed me their exercise room, one-bedrooms, and all that. It was nice. Their dining area was nice too."

"Very Blessed to have such a loving and caring STAFF that truely put the Resident’s First by knowing each one of them and truely loving them. This is just not a job they do. It takes Special Individuals to do this kind of work and each and everyone of them take this to HEART when it comes to their residents the Staff just don’t look at these individuals as residents they are Family. . "I was very impressed with Brookdale Lexington. The memory care rooms were nice. The whole campus was nice and very clean. The people that we spoke to seemed kind and friendly. They were very nice and very knowledgeable. The director showed us around. She was very, very good at answering questions and doing the tours. Overall, it was a good place. I felt that it would be a safe place for my father, too, if we chose that. I felt comfortable there. They have a salon and a couple of gardens that they can go sit in and walk."

"I toured Mary's House Family Care Home. It was wonderful. It's like a home. I was very impressed with the inside. It was clean and very welcoming. I was impressed with the layout of the home. I think there were only two patients, and the staff said they would have up to four. I like this because the fewer patients they have, the better care they can give. Also, it's nearby where I could go and visit. The staff asked me different questions and things. They made me feel very welcome. I felt like everything would go well. The place was fine. Every room was immaculate. I was impressed. I couldn't have asked for anything better. The home was nice. Outside and inside, it was immaculate. It couldn't have been better."

"We went up and toured Brighton Gardens of Winston-Salem. We liked it. We were very, very pleased with what we saw in the facility. The gentleman said it was an older building, but it looked modern and everything in it was nice. It is as well as we expected or maybe better. We saw a room or two and they were all clean and nice. The staff who assisted us was great. He was good. Everybody was friendly. We have no qualms about our visit to Brighton Gardens. It was nice."

"I saw Brookdale Reynolda Road through the eyes of my neighbor. She's 99 years old. There were an awful lot of people who were elderly and who were no longer in their activity level. Most of the people were in wheelchairs, and so I thought it was not a good place for somebody who is in their 60s and just simply wants to be in an environment like that and wants to still be living. These are for people who are done living. So from that point of view, it was a good place for my neighbor. I was shown the facilities, and I was very impressed with them. It's a lovely place. It's a very friendly place. It's very light, sunny and open. The personnel I saw there were smiling. I had a good feeling about the whole place. The lady who interviewed me was more than forthcoming with all the questions that I had. And so, I was just 100% satisfied with what I saw and heard. The staff members were all very friendly and very inviting. I was very impressed with the total interview I had with everybody. Everything was clean and uncluttered. There are big windows everywhere, so they're letting in sunlight. It made me feel good that the area around is green. There are trees outside. It's just a clean and friendly environment. It would be a perfect place for my neighbor."

"The lady that we talked to was very nice. There was a smell, but I think that is probably normal in places like that. They seem to care for the people well, but it was kind of depressing. My husband is the one that we were going for; we were going to look for his mom, and he was not too excited about her staying there. My personal feeling is that she is not to the point where she needs the assisted living there so much, but she is not able to handle independent living as well. "

"My mom is in Somerset Court of Mocksville. They have switched doctors and pharmacists, so I'm not thrilled with the incidences. They're not giving her medication because they say they switched and it's causing problems. Well, that's no reason to deny people medication. Most of the help is good except they've taken away her supplements like calcium and all that stuff that you take by yourself at home. They won't let her touch a pill there without a doctor's prescription, even if it is over-the-counter. It annoys a living hell out of me. They've taken her stuff without her knowing. You have to go and approach them. Then they admit to taking it. You just suddenly find it missing and wonder what the hell happened, and the stuff is not cheap. Other than that, she seems to have made friends there and has settled in. God is good, but you don't want to dance in a small boat, so that's what I'm trying not to do. The place looks OK. I think it could use more trees and green space. They're crowded in a little corner in a busy town that's got a lot of cement for a little town. It's neat, and it's clean. It's got way too much cement for me, and it certainly doesn't make it any cooler in the summertime. It's aesthetically OK. It's not as pretty or as nice as some that I've been in, but it's not as bad as others. I'm happy with the room, and it's aesthetically pleasing. My mom gets her own room. For as much as what people charge for half a room in some places, she gets a room there. She has to share a bathroom, but it's a nice bathroom. This is a pretty decent place. It's not really big, but it's not really small. She likes it. It has enough space for one person to try to get better without the added expense one room would cost the person. If they would straighten out the doggone medication problem, the pill problem, and the pharmacy problem, I'd say the value for the money is good. They talk about having lots of activities, but half of their activities are geared toward Christian activities. If you don't happen to be Christian, then that probably doesn't help you. Other than that, it's good value for the money. They have the nail thing. They have a spa for people who have problems showering by themselves, so that's helpful. It's not a glamorous place, but it's OK. My only complaint about this place is that they lack green space for people to sit in. They have some levels of flexibility, which I didn't anticipate when I first got my mother in there. They're not a bad place at all. They're not the best I've looked at, but they're not the worst I've looked at. Some staff are really great; some staff are not so great. The food is a whole lot better than the nursing home. The facility looks really well maintained. They look really good."

"Our experience having dad in Mocksville Senior Living is not too bad. Right now they're all locked in, but they had activities like movies and go to parks. The meals don't seem too bad, they have the usual like chickens, vegetables and meat. It's a little older property. I would think that the nursing staff would be a little more aware of all the things going on."

"My loved one spent two months at the Bermuda Village rehabilitation facility. His room was clean and spacious. The staff was caring and attentive. He was motivated and encouraged to improve (move) by the staff. They made his experience much more than we could have ever hoped for. Although he was very ill they showed compassion and he felt that the staff took his improvement personally. We can’t say enough good things about our experience with Bermuda Village rehabilitation facility."
